Here is a very straight southern car with original paint and absolutely no rust...NONE!  I am third owner.  It drives and handles like a new car and can be trusted to go anywhere.  It's been kept inside since new and looks to have been pampered.  It has the original paint that isn't perfect by any means but hey, it is original.  All of the emblems look good with no pitting or oxidation.  Front and rear bumpers are straight but the rear bumper could use a plating job.  All of the wheel covers are original to the car and look nice.  Also, the fender skirts are straight and solid.  The seats are original with no tears and the stitching is tight.  Springs in the seats are firm also with no sag.  I replaced door panels only because the driver side had a very small tear.  The carpet had very minimal fading but I replaced it, also.  The dash is so soft that you can squeeze it without it cracking.....seats are just as soft.  The wood grain on the dash is perfect!  The windows (tinted) go up and down like a new car.  I sent the tilt column off and had it redone with new wiring, bearings, etc.  Also, I sent the AM/FM radio off and had it cleaned and tuned......it works GREAT!  The front and rear speakers are new with the factory option front and rear speaker control on front dash.  Door, window, and truck seals are new.  I removed all hard and flexible air duct from under the dash and cleaned it.  The flexible duct under the dash was not hard and dry rotted like most cars, reaffirming what I was told about it being a garage kept car.  The original carpet, dash and seats imply the same.

As far as mechanical, the car is near perfect.  The original motor was gone through from top to bottom 4500 miles ago.  I put a new carburator on the car so I could send the original off to be rebuilt.......both will go with the car.  The transmission shifts perfect with the kick down working properly.  It has new A/C that blows cold and the climate control works properly.  Also, it has a new radiator, new heater core, new starter, new belts and hoses, new wheel cylinders, new brakes, new shocks and springs, new front end, and new Cooper tires (including spare).  The hidden headlights work perfectly and open and close evenly with no sagging.  All the gauges work except the fuel gauge seems to not be working properly.....probably the float assembly in the tank.

I have spared no expense to get this car mechanically sound in every way.  With attention to paint, rear bumper, and fuel gauge, this car will be very near perfect.  Another car that I've had my eye on for a long time is available and that's the reason for my selling.  My reserve is well below what has been spent on the car.  Please call me with any and all questions.  If I don't answer, leave a message.  662-719-3307  Thanks for looking!

Junkyard Gem: 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT

Fri, Jun 26 2020

The New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, California, built Toyota-derived machinery — badged as Toyotas, Chevrolets, Geos, and Pontiacs— from 1984 through 2010, and some of the very last vehicles that left the assembly line were Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe, sibling to the Toyota Matrix, mostly served as a ho-hum transportation appliance and/or fleet car, but a factory-hot-rod GT version could be purchased. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those rare GTs, complete with the nearly unheard-of six-speed manual transmission, found in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The regular Vibe had 123 or 130 horsepower, depending on the number of driven wheels, but the Vibe GT got the same 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine that went into the Celica GT-S. 180 horsepower, which was enough to make the 2,800-pound Vibe GT keep up with the 3,108-pound/215-horse Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo that year. Sadly, no race series pitting Vibe GTs against PT Cruiser Turbos and Chevy HHR SSs on road courses ever materializedÂ… but it's not too late. The Vibe GT has something you couldn't get in a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR, though: a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In fact, the six-speed was the only transmission offered in the early Vibe GTs (an automatic became an option later on). You'll find plenty of three-pedal econoboxes from this era, because they were significantly cheaper than their slushbox-equipped counterparts, but the Vibe GT had plenty of competition from sportier-looking cars with manual transmissions in 2004. Not many were sold. This car is covered with nasty dents from golf-ball-sized hail (all too common in High Plains Colorado), so it may have been an insurance total that nobody wanted at auction. Sold in Wyoming, will be crushed in an adjacent state. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Fuel for the soul. Toyota had right-hand-drive Matrixes brought over to Japan from Canada, but a NUMMI-built version of the Vibe could be purchased there for a few years as well. This was the Voltz, and its advertising seems notably frantic even by the standards of Japanese car commercials.

Distracted driver crosses center line and hits police car

Wed, Apr 6 2016

Attentive driving and quick reflexes saved the life of a police officer in Hudson, WI, when an oncoming driver drifted into the officer's lane and struck his cruiser. According to KMSP, the officer was patrolling along a busy road through Hudson on March 31 when the crash occurred. Dash cam video from the patrol car which was released to local media shows the dramatic collision unfold. As the officer came around a mild left-hand curve, a white, 90s-era Pontiac Grand Am continued straight through the curve, across the center line, and directly into the officer's path. The officer was able to avoid a head-on collision, but the Pontiac still struck the driver's side of the patrol car. "Both the officer and the other driver are ok, however, this accident could have been much, much worse," said a Hudson Police Department official on the department's Facebook page. "So please remember to pay attention to your driving at all times when behind the wheel." Minnesota's Department of Public Safety estimates that one in every four crashes in the State of Minnesota are caused by distracted drivers. DPS believes that the actual number may be higher, but police often have difficulty proving distracted driving as the cause of a crash. Government/Legal Pontiac Driving Safety Coupe Police/Emergency

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
