G.T.O.........simply stands for performance.  and this 1970 pontiac has it in spades.  right from the peak of the muscle car era.........from the manufacturer which started it all.  this beautiful 1970 pontiac gto tribute, is as nice as they come.  recent professional, high quality two stage clearcoat, colorsanded and polished paint, in the original light blue metallic.  the interior is also a pleasing period light blue metallic, featuring bucket seats and a real wood console, sporting a b&m floor shifter, with lock-out. always a california car with original unmolested floors and trunk pans.

the previous owner loved this car, and it shows.  it was almost no expense spared when it came to the mechanicals on this car.  pontiac's potent 350, warmed up with hi-compression heads (prior owner stated the heads are some special rare heads that cost about half of what the car does............i don't know..........and i'm not checking numbers..............all i know is that this car runs GREAT).  special cam, roller rockers, eldelbrock intake and 4bbl carb, aluminum rocker covers, chrome air cleaner, msd ignition, large diameter plug wires, large free flow headers into flowmasters and split rear quad pipes.  and more.........sounds great too.  constantly getting comments about appearance and sound.  the red line tires are a big favourite, since few people see them any more, they generate a lot of admiration.  the rallye wheels and bfg redlines are almost new, with probably less than 1500 miles on them.  the body is very straight, and there are no signs of rust on the car.  the rest of the driveline is a jewel as well.  th 400 trans built with 2500 rpm stall converter and shift kit.  the rear end is an auburn posi unit.........so this baby not only looks the part...............it can lay it down too.  i've owned many muscle cars...........and i can easily say this is the best driving one i've ever owned.  many are sloppy, ill handling, tempramental tin cans ................but not this one.  this is my pick as a daily driver whenever i can.  but i have other projects............and i'm looking for more, so trades are also interesting to me.  front bucket seats are freshly reupolstered, new carpets, dash cap, and polished trim.  new door gto badges.  loaded with tilt wheel (which is a big thing for me in making the car much easier to get in and out of), power brakes and steering.  the car originally had a/c which is not currently hooked up.  bilstein shocks combined with the bfg redline radials, make this car ride wonderful. pioneer bluetooth, hands free cd player, so you can talk while you enjoy the road in safety.  i've purposely not detailed under the car, so you can see what it really looks like underneath, and bid with confidence.  a gto, better than the real thing.  much new rubber.  the car needs are few, but i don't want to give the impression this is a concours show car.............cause it is not.  it is a quality driver, a used car.......meant to drive, so please don't expect more, and bid accordingly.  ready for virtually any show and shine car show you can throw at it.

$500 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction, and is absolutely non-refundable.  please check with you wife, mistress, dominatrix, grandma, psychic healer, banker or dog groomer before bidding..............you bid.........you own it.  i will follow this up in accordance with ebay and  local state rules.  i can gladly assist with your shipping efforts, even overseas.  for sale locally, so if i get my price early i can end the auction at my discression, so bid early, or send me contact if you are seriously interested. you may also check out my youtube video on the car for more details:

Porsche Syberia RS rally car is what you make when you need a Hummer that's fast

Fri, Apr 24 2020

Some history: The Porsche 911's first-ever race was the 1965 Monte Carlo rally, entered because Porsche's PR man at the time wanted to show how much the future icon could do. A year later, Porsche began selling an optional rally kit for the 911 that included Recaro seats, a roll bar, and adjustable Koni dampers. Porsche produced factory rally racers until the early 1970s, winning Monte Carlo three times in a row before letting privateers carry the torch so the factory could focus on campaigning in the East Africa Safari. After years of painful lessons, when Porsche took its brand-new 1978 911 SC to the safari, the 3.0-liter flat-six coupe was hours away from winning the race before damaging the suspension, demoting the car to second place. Porsche fans wanted their own replicas, and finding the new 911 to be an affordable option, the SC — built from 1978 to 1983 — went from denoting "Super Carrera" to "Safari Car."   Porsche took a big step up in with the 953 rally car. Built to win the 1984 Paris-Dakar, which it did, the 953 introduced the four-wheel-drive system Porsche would evolve for the 959 in 1985 and the 964-series 911 in 1989, as well as the now-unforgettable 911-based Rothmans livery. All of this is what's fueling today's 911 Safari Car revival around the world. Almost all of today's builds start with the so-called G Model 911s, produced from 1973 to 1989, usually focusing on the SC and the Carrera that ran from 1984 until 1989.  Fast forward to 2007 when a mysterious crew organized the TransSyberia Rally, a "sports-touring" event that stretched 4,500 miles from Moscow to the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. Of the 34 vehicles that entered, 25 were Porsche's purpose-built Cayenne S Transsyberia Edition.  Put this all in a pot and you have the beginnings of the car that brings us here, the Syberia RS. It's said that a German fellow by the name of Kai Burkhard wanted to buy a Humvee, but the low top speed, around 50 miles per hour, put him off. So instead, he imported a 1986 911 "in collector condition" from Japan with the idea of rebuilding it to provide almost all the off-road fun he could have had in the H1. Burkhard tapped the Tailor Made department at German suspension designer H&R, and the two set to work creating a build like the 953 Dakar winner.  This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 2010 Pontiac Vibe

Wed, Apr 17 2024

Just over a month before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2009, General Motors announced that the 83-year-old Pontiac Division would be "phased out" by the end of 2010. Only three Pontiac vehicles were sold as 2010 models in the United States: the Solstice, Vibe and G6 (new G3s were sold here during 2010 but they were all 2009 models, while the G5 was available as a 2010 model only in Canada and Mexico). Today's bit of junkyard automotive history is one of the very last Vibes ever built, found in a yard near Denver, Colorado. This car is significant not just as one of the final vehicles to bear Pontiac badges but also as one of the last cars built by the New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated GM-Toyota joint venture in California, better known as NUMMI. The NUMMI factory began life as GM's Fremont Assembly, which built its first vehicle (a C-Series pickup) in 1963 and closed in 1982 after building its final vehicle (an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera). Rebooted as NUMMI, the first 1985 Chevrolet Nova (an Americanized AE82 Toyota Corolla Sprinter) rolled off the line in December of 1984. A quarter-century and better than eight million vehicles hence, NUMMI shut down production after its last Corolla was finished on April 1, 2010. While there was some noise about the Oakland Athletics building a new stadium on the site at the time, Tesla ended up buying most of the site soon after that. Tesla now builds more vehicles per year there than NUMMI ever did. The Vibe was co-developed with Toyota and based on the same platform as the ninth-generation Corolla. The Toyota Matrix was mechanically identical and was built in Canada, while the Japanese-market version (known as the Toyota Voltz) was built on the same NUMMI line as the Vibe and shipped across the Pacific. The Vibe/Matrix/Voltz got a redesign for the 2009 model year, but few noticed due to all the turmoil in the GM world at the time. The final Vibe was built in August 2009. This car was built in July of 2009, just before the end. It was living in West Texas just prior to coming to Colorado. El Paso is about a ten-hour drive from this car's current location. Once in the Centennial State, it got parked somewhere it shouldn't have been and ended up being auctioned to Pick Your Part. An occupant of this Vibe had time to sample some of the local agricultural products before that happened.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
