IF YOU STILL HAVE INTEREST READ THE LISTING BELOW: I will tell you who I am, where I live, lots of details about the car, how to pay for the car and get it shipped.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 43 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

Sorry, but I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family, I'm 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will help you 6 days a week, but not on Sunday. I'm a retired auto mechanics instructor and was a helicopter mechanic and instructor in the Army in the late 60s. I will check my email a couple of times on Sunday.

Sorry, but I do m=not make videos!! I'm 67 years old and don't enjoy making them, come look at the car. I have sold every car I have ever put on the market without a video.

WILL I SELL THE CAR OFF EBAY MOTORS? Sure, I'm not crazy, I will sell to you direct. Come look, or if you have lots of nerve buy direct.  I know most guys use ebay for research and don't trust buying without coming to inspect. I welcome you to come and look the care over.

IS THIS A REAL GTO?  I think it is, the 42 in the VIN proves it according to web sites I have visited.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS?    I don't find any rust problems, the frame looks very solid as well as the body panels. The floors and quarter panels look original to me, if they have been replaced they were done right.

IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find and none stated on the title.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell.

PAINT: The paint has a very good shine, no dents, no dings, I consider the car straight to look down the sides. I do see a few specs in a couple of areas, its not a 100 point show car, it a very nice driver.

CHROME:      Very nice chrome, it has no dulling. Car was missing 2 chrome molding on the front valance panel below the front bumper. I have them ordered from Original Parts Group.

INTEROR:  No bad smells, no wear, the headliner is very nice, the dash has no cracks, the seat covers, carpet and door panels look new. Past owner has new headrest ordered as well as new GTO door panel emblems. Hopefully they will be here before the car sells, sorry, but I can give you no guarantee on that. I do have a set of headrest that need coved if the new ones don't show up. The rear seat belts are a little rusty on the chrome ends.

UNSERSIDE:

It is good, but not detailed real beautiful. The floors look original to me, the frame good.

GLASS:  The glass is good and the windows roll up and down good, the windshield clear with no bad wiper marks, the rubber weather stripping all looks good.

ENGINE: The engine runs good, it has a Rochester 4 barrel carburetor, no knocks, no rattles, no blue smoke, I will not guarantee you it want leave a drop of oil, its a old car. Past owner said it was the original, I did not try to run casting numbers to me, I'm not a purest. The chrome valve covers are a little dull in areas. the dual snorkel air cleaner is better than the pictures show, the chrome on it is very presentable.

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  Goof system with the dual rear tips, stock manifolds.

TRANSMISSION:

Turbo 400 that shifts good with no slip, this is a 3 speed automatic. The shifter push button works, but you have to give it a positive push.

REAR-END:

No whines or growls, its a good highway gearing. It is positive traction and when I checked the ratio by marking the wheels and drive shaft it checked 3.31 to 1.

BRAKES:

Disc in front and drums in rear, they are power assisted.

STEERING: The steering is good, the car is power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES : Pontiac Rally wheels, they are 14 inch and look nice. The tires are Goodyear Wing Foot and good.

LIGHTS and wiring: The head lights work, the tail lights work, the brake lights work, the turn signals work, the dome light is not working, I will check it out, but no guarantee on a fix.

THE GAS GAUGE WORKS! SPEEDMETER WORKS! Horn works, but is weak! Wipers work!

.

GUAGES: The gas gauge works, the heat, temp and oil work.

RAOIO: No radio, the dash has not been cut. Past owner was going to put one of the Custom Audio systems in.

NOTE about the air conditioning: This was a factory air conditioned car. Past owner was going to put a Vintage Air system on so he left the engine stuff off. I have the old compressor (locked up) and the brackets that all come with the car. If I had time I would either rebuild the old system or put a modern system on, I personally like the modern system.

HOW DO THE PANELS FIT? The fixed body panels fit very good, the trunk is up just a very little because of new tight rubber, the doors close good and fit about the way they did when the car was born, the hood is up a little on the back passengers corner.

HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? They open and close good.

WHY DON'T I FIX EVERYTHING? 2 reasons, time and money. I have too many projects started and don't have the time. The car is nice the way it is!

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time.  Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

cell 423-506-8987                                 email: dreamcar@live.com

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport. They are located in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment, it cost too much.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Sorry, but not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 66 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but some of them do not impress me at all,  they can make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $19,999 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

Jay Leno tries out a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge that looks factory fresh

Tue, Jan 31 2017

The latest machine to show up on Jay Leno's Garage is arguably the most iconic Pontiac GTO, the 1970 Judge. The example here is a radically red model and features all of the nifty Judge features, such as the mega-size rear wing, hood-mounted tachometer, and ram air hood scoop. The latter of which had a panel in the hood that would open up at full throttle to let in all that cool air from outside. The car is owned by the Wade Kawasaki, president of Coker Tires, a company that specializes in reproducing classic tires. Not surprisingly, his GTO features a set of the company's Firestone Wide Oval tires. That particular tire would have come with the car originally, but these new versions are built like modern radial tires, rather than the slippery bias-ply originals. The tires are indicative of how Kawasaki restored the rest of his Judge. Everything has been taken back to factory-spec. It has a stock, 400-cubic inch V8 that makes a supposedly underrated 366 horsepower, and it's complete with the chrome valve covers and foam intake seal. The tires are accompanied by exact replica GTO Judge wheels. The car even has the true, original interior. Somehow, the upholstery, dash, and other interior components survived in excellent condition. Check out the video above for more details on this flashy muscle car, as well as some reminiscing about the "good ol' days," and some history on the origins of the car's name. Related Video:

Steve McQueen barn find: Movie Trans Am surfaces after almost 40 years

Mon, Dec 17 2018

An important Steve McQueen film car has emerged from barn storage. No, it's not yet another " Bullitt" Mustang, quite the contrary: The car in question is a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, and it starred in McQueen's final film, " The Hunter." In the movie, McQueen plays a bounty hunter, and while in " Bullitt" he's quite the wheelman, that's not the case in this one. McQueen's character, "Papa" Thorson, is a horrible driver, and the Trans Am is far too much car for him. A chase sequence sees McQueen driving a combine harvester to catch the perps who are driving his stolen rental Pontiac, and the Trans Am ends up blown in half with dynamite, then returned to the airport on a trailer. The driver of said GMC truck and trailer combination, Harold McQueen (no relation), received the title of the first car used in filming, and for the following decades planned to fix the now-ruined car, but never got around to it. Instead, the 1,300-mile Pontiac wreck sat on a farm for nearly 40 years, until Harold decided to sell it to an enthusiast. There's studio documentation proving the car's pedigree, and stunt modifications can be seen in the Pontiac's floor and dash. While it's obviously in dreadful condition, the car remained more intact than the other stunt car the film crew blew up even more spectacularly — that car ended up as the pile of parts in the airport scene, and those bits and pieces were eventually dropped off at a junkyard after a Pontiac dealer refused them. McQueen did also drive a 1951 Chevrolet in the film, and kept that yellow convertible after filming was wrapped up. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer just a month later, after reportedly being in poor health during the shooting, and passed away in December 1980. The yellow Chevy stayed with his estate for some years, later getting restored and auctioned. Right now, it's not clear what the Trans Am's fate will be. The car's current owner, Calvin Riggs from Carlyle Motors in Katy, Texas, wants to know more about the Trans Am and the film shoot: His post on Hemmings includes a lot of information, but more would be useful. Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon

Tue, Aug 9 2016

During the 1960s and 1970s, station wagons based on full-sized Detroit sedans were the default family haulers, and many of those Kingswood Estates and Country Squires and Ambassadors came with unapologetically phony woodgrain-printed exterior paneling and trim. By the late 1980s, however, few were snapping up such wagons, making this '87 Safari that I spotted in a Denver yard an interesting find. Power for this wagon came from a 307-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 making 140 horsepower. General Motors used this engine in Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs, finally discontinuing production for the 1990 model year. Was the "wood" convincing, even when new? Of course not, but it was a cherished American tradition. Related Video: Featured Gallery 1987 Pontiac Safari station wagon in Colorado junkyard View 18 Photos Auto News Pontiac station wagon
