If you are in the market for a collector grade 1965 GTO, this is a very rare find. Built in the Fremont California Pontiac Plant and delivered to Mission Pontiac in San Bernardino California, this GTO spent it's entire life in California until 18 months ago. All original sheet metal and no rust! A true California black plate car with ORIGINAL re-conditioned black plates on front and back. Frame off restored in 2009 and maintains the original 389CI 360HP tri-power motor, original M20 4-speed transmission and original 3:55 saf-t-track posi rearend. Restored to it's factory original Mayfair Maize color with black Cordova top and new factory correct black interior that is dead-on from Legendary Auto. Highly optioned with PHS documentation showing factory power steering, power brakes, rally gauges, bucket seats with console, factory Ram Air Exhaust Manifolds, exhaust splitters and more - even has the T3 headlights and factory reverb! Woodgrain steering wheel, disc brakes and Coker PMD wheels and redline radials were added. A set of four Rally 1 wheels with new redline tires come with the car as well . Everything on this show piece works right down to the factory reverb. I have the ORIGINAL owner's manual and window sticker, PHS documentation, build sheet and other items - just needs a new home. I have owned the car since it left California but don't know the history of previous ownership. Didn't matter to me as the car and the PHS speaks for itself. GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns
Thu, 15 May 2014The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.
eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
