1971 Pontiac GTO

400 4bbl

Turbo 400 Automatic trans

Power steering, power brakes, Air conditioning

Here is an opportunity for someone to own this extremely nice, low mileage, ORIGINAL GTO.  We bought this car from the second owner, who has owned it since 1973.  The car was driven sparingly from 1973-1987, and in 1987 the car was parked in a garage, covered up, and left untouched until now!  A lot of work has been put into this car to bring it back to life after 26 years of storage.

Here is what I have done to the car;

-Drained old fuel

-new spark plugs

-new points and condenser

-full carb rebuild

-new starter

-new water pump

-new radiator

-one new muffler

-both new tail pipes

-new front brakes

-nice set of used tires

-changed motor oil and filter

-replaced all coolant

-new brake fluid

-all ball joints and tie rods have been serviced

-and of course, a good ol' fashioned scrub down

The car now runs and drives great. Has tons of power and feels nice and tight like a low mileage car should!

Now, even though this is a beautiful low mileage car, it does have its flaws.  The car has had a partial or full repaint in the early seventies.  The last owner (who owned the car for most of its life) didn't even realize the car had been repainted. He said it must have been done in the first two years of the cars life because he did not have it repainted.  Up close, the paint has chips and scratches, most which are on the front rubber bumper. The windshield has a small crack.  The interior is in beautiful condition, however the drivers seat has some seam spilling, as does the drivers door armrest.  The headliner has a few small holes, believed to be from a mouse during its time in storage.

The only other negative about this car that I can find is that there has been some small rust or damage repair in the trunk floor, and very bottom edge of the rear quarter panel.  Again, these repairs were said to take place before the previous owner purchased the car in 1973, he was surprised to my findings of these repairs.  These repairs are still holding up very well and looking good after so many years.

I have a clear title in hand from 1973!!

Get in and drive anywhere, this car looks and works great!

Call with any questions, 630-624-4242 My name is Matt.

Good luck!!

Junkyard Gem: 1988 Pontiac LeMans Sedan

Tue, Feb 7 2017

During the 1960s, the Pontiac LeMans was a sporty, rear-wheel-drive midsize car, the GTO's cheaper sibling. Through the 1970s and into the middle 1980s, the LeMans became a bit less youthful-looking but remained a traditional rear-wheel-drive Detroit machine with a V8 engine option. Then, starting in the 1988 model year, the LeMans name went onto a South Korean-built version of the misery-inducing, front-wheel-drive Opel Kadett E. These were dark days for the Pontiac marque; here's the proof, photographed at a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard last month. This one didn't quite make it to the 100,000-mile mark. These cars were very, very cheap and sold reasonably well, but nearly all of the 1988-1993 LeManses are hatchbacks. I have seen a total of two Daewoo LeMans sedans during the last decade, and this is one of them. Under the hood, 74 raging Opel/Daewoo horsepower. This content is hosted by a third party. In the United States, the ads for the LeMans were all about the hatchback, and all about cheap excitement. Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?

Mon, Aug 31 2020

UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering — by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties — being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. If you want to earn the ire of your neighbors — and to be clear, we really wouldn't recommend it — click on over to Cars & Bids to view the auction. There are four days left to hit the "bid" button. Consider yourself warned. Related Video:
