The car still retains it's original vin number matching 400. The intake was changed to that of a '68 model year and the carb was changed to a 4 speed version (7028273  XX 0569 this has been through a rebuilder at one time and all parts are not 100% correct). 4 tube headers were added with a custom 2 1/2 dual exhaust. other engine dress up items were also added. it runs well. the engine is backed up by the TH400 and a 3.55 open 8.2 rear.

The body is in overall good shape. the trim is in good shape. It looks to be an older repaint. the verdoro green paint is faded and some rust is present. some bubbles are on the drivers rear of the hood (the understructure is good and has not been "folded"), lower rear drivers door, and right rear quarter. there is rust at the wheel opening and wheel well of the pass rear. pictures are posted of these areas. the underneath of the car, frame, floors, etc. looks good. I replaced the trunk lid with a very rust free LeMans unit and added new reproduction GTO emblem. the paint doesn't quite match. I have the trim for the trunk lid and it's in good shape, as you can see it hasn't been reinstalled though. the rear bumper and bolts have been replaced with reproduction units.

The previous owner put alot of money into the interior. Both front door pannels and rear side pannels are new. The front and rear seat padding along with the upholstery is new. the carpet is new. the original head liner has some stiching comming undone in the right rear. a new headliner and material for the visors are included (not installed). the dash is in good overall shape.

The previous owner also replaced with new parts: power brake booster, master cylinder, brake hard lines, brake rubber hoses, front calipers, and brake pads.

I added 14x6 rally II wheels (not original '69) with new trim rings, center caps, and lug nuts. two new tires were also installed. the other two have about 50% tread.

I took a couple of videos, with a not so great camera, showing the hide-a-ways working, of the oil pressure guage, and a cold and hot start up and running with a quick walk around. they are not so great, but the best I could do with what I have.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Jay Leno tries out a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge that looks factory fresh

Tue, Jan 31 2017

The latest machine to show up on Jay Leno's Garage is arguably the most iconic Pontiac GTO, the 1970 Judge. The example here is a radically red model and features all of the nifty Judge features, such as the mega-size rear wing, hood-mounted tachometer, and ram air hood scoop. The latter of which had a panel in the hood that would open up at full throttle to let in all that cool air from outside. The car is owned by the Wade Kawasaki, president of Coker Tires, a company that specializes in reproducing classic tires. Not surprisingly, his GTO features a set of the company's Firestone Wide Oval tires. That particular tire would have come with the car originally, but these new versions are built like modern radial tires, rather than the slippery bias-ply originals. The tires are indicative of how Kawasaki restored the rest of his Judge. Everything has been taken back to factory-spec. It has a stock, 400-cubic inch V8 that makes a supposedly underrated 366 horsepower, and it's complete with the chrome valve covers and foam intake seal. The tires are accompanied by exact replica GTO Judge wheels. The car even has the true, original interior. Somehow, the upholstery, dash, and other interior components survived in excellent condition. Check out the video above for more details on this flashy muscle car, as well as some reminiscing about the "good ol' days," and some history on the origins of the car's name. Related Video:

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
