1969 Pontiac Custom S Convertible. A couple steps below a GTO, but nobody's heard of a Custom S as it was only produced for 1 year (1969). Only 2379 Convertibles were made. It is a rare car. It is also NUMBER MATCHING which helps the value of the car. This car has the 265 hp motor which has been upgraded with a 4 bbl carb and manifold to match the optional 330 hp motor offered. Automatic transmission, PS, PB (front disk), PW, Power Top, Power Antenna, Factory AC (have parts, not on car), Electronic Ignition. Original bench style seat with center armrest.

Car runs and drives Very Good and could be a daily driver if you wanted to. Much has been spent to make it so. All New Suspension (Springs, Shocks, All Bushings, Sway Bar, Alignment), New Belts, New Carburetor, Cable, Spring, New Accelerator pedal,  New Starter, New Alternator, Brakes, New Radiator Hoses and Clamps, Radiator just boiled out and pressure tested, New Thermostat, New Transmission Lines and fluid, Recent Tires, New retro Stereo (digital with ipod hookups) and kickpanel/speakers, New dash inserts and woodgrain, probably a few other things I'm forgetting. Car has GTO hood and spoiler. Body is straight. Good gaps, doors open and close as they should. Frame is good. My 'picky' mechanic said car does not appear to have been hit and solid. I think there has been a minor patch in a floor board and trunk, but all appears original. Original color was the Red/Orange but car was repainted Pontiac Silver. It looks like it was a professional job and the car was taken apart to do so. Body has a couple flaws. The seams above the trunk have some paint cracking and the area above the bumper on each side have some bubbles. No door dings or dents anywhere. Car is really straight! Convertible top is in decent shape. Before today, there were no tears. Somehow today, I developed an 1 1/2" slice on the passenger side. Minor, but still a flaw. I also have a tonno cover for when the top is down.

The flaws...I couple projects still to do. The idiots lights don't work. Not a big deal as there are mechanical gauges but the gas gauge is included in the 'not working' category. I'm told it needs the printed circuit board replaced (which I have). The blower motor for heat/ac doesn't work (I have a new one too), the dash has a couple cracks, not bad (but I have a dash pad for that too) Interior is near perfect with one flaw in the driver door panel. Previous owner cut an 'oval shape' in it for something. Not horrible, but pointing out the flaws. I have New correct PMD centercaps, and other parts for the incidentals (. Car is completely respectable and driveable as-is. Its a great cruiser and car show contestant. Being a Custom S, it gets plenty of attention as nobody knows what it is or has heard of them. I love the car and the attention it gets, just not enough time to enjoy it and kid is going off to school in September, and could use the money more than the car at this point. I do not expect to get the $17k I have invested into the car, but would like to get a reasonable price for it. Although it still needs a couple things, its a good, solid, honest, matching number car which should increase in value. If you can't afford a $40K GTO, this may be the car for you as they are so close. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere.

Feel free to come and look at and drive the car in person. I will tell you as much as I know about it (good or bad). Call or email for more info. This is a car that you can just get in and drive and enjoy! Ken 732-278-6303

Pontiac Aztek rises from the ashes of infamy in Firebird Trans Am guise

Thu, Apr 9 2020

What if the Pontiac Aztek, one of the most widely ridiculed vehicles ever built, was reimagined with a little flair from one of the former brand’s more legendary cars? Well, it turns out that someone not only came up with that idea, but followed up on it. And so, we present to you the Pontiac Aztek Firebird Trans Am, uh, trim package? ItÂ’s not real, of course, but it comes from Abimelec Arellano, an Hermosillo, Mexico-based car designer with too much time on his hands who goes by the name Abimelec Design. Arellano redesigned the midsize SUVÂ’s wimpy front fascia to surprising success by simply adding widened fender flares and perhaps modernizing the headlights. He also went all-in embracing the AztekÂ’s abrupt, flattened rear end by removing the rear bumper lip, adding a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler to boot. This content is hosted by a third party. Arellano also added some probably larger Pontiac Snowflake wheels with gold accents that really make them pop and play well against the signature Firebird decal dominating the hood. Commenters generally fall into one of two buckets. As one put it, “I never thought the Aztek could look this good.” Others implored Arellano to do a version with a T-top. Or as one Autoblog editor put it, “So it turns out the reason the Aztek was a laughingstock failure is that it didnÂ’t come in a Smokey and the Bandit Edition. Somewhere, a dude who got shouted down in a product-planning meeting years ago is vindicated.” Sold between 2001 and 2005, the Aztek arguably reached the pinnacle of its notoriety as the metaphor for the drab, underachieving life of Walter White in AMCÂ’s meth drama, “Breaking Bad.” It came equipped with a 3.4-liter V6 that made 185 horsepower and sent it through a four-speed automatic to the front wheels, with an all-wheel drive version also available. The Aztek may have the last laugh, especially if it gets a screaming chicken. “The fact it was a controversial design and didnÂ’t sell well will make it an object of curiosity from a historical standpoint many years from now,” McKeel Hagerty, president and CEO of classic-car insurer Hagerty Insurance, told Autoblog back in 2016.

Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?

Mon, Aug 31 2020

UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering — by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties — being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. If you want to earn the ire of your neighbors — and to be clear, we really wouldn't recommend it — click on over to Cars & Bids to view the auction. There are four days left to hit the "bid" button. Consider yourself warned. Related Video:

Porsche still deciding on one or two new 911 plug-in hybrids

Tue, May 29 2018

Back in March, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told Autocar that the coming Porsche 911 plug-in hybrid "will be the most powerful 911 we've ever had." That quote portended a 992-series 911 with 700 horsepower or more. A new report in Auto Express, however, suggests Porsche is having energetic debates about just what the 911's hybrid strategy will be, and that the only agreed-upon plug-in hybrid 911 so far is a milder version to sit in the middle of the range. Putting all our rumors in a row, in January, Automobile reported on an electrically-assisted 911 with 485 hp and 561 pound-feet of torque. The new AE piece effectively endorses that, saying the mid-range hybrid would follow the program established by the all-wheel drive Cayenne e-Hybrid that produces a combined 455 hp and 516 lb-ft. The 911 would naturally use a flat-six instead of the Cayenne's 3.0-liter V6, and the sports car would be tuned for better sound response and sharper reflexes. AE says fuel economy for this hybrid should be at least 80 eMPG, with emissions of less than 80 grams per kilometer. The current base Carrera is currently rated at a maximum 38.2 mpg in the UK, with minimum emissions of 169 g/km. The hybrid, fitted with a double-clutch gearbox and Porsche's mechanical all-wheel-drive system, could run from a stop to 62 miles per hour in less than four seconds, making it more efficient than a base Carrera and much faster than a Carrera 4S. AE says there remains only "the potential for Porsche to add a second, more powerful hybrid 911," and says its sources claim that's what's "causing the most consternation behind closed doors." This one would be the twin-turbocharged, 700-hp beastie that, as a series production car, would have a hard time not usurping the 540-hp Turbo, 580-hp Turbo S, and 607-hp Turbo S Exclusive. True, the hybrid would be handicapped with a 550-pound battery pack, but the instant acceleration and handling benefits of electric AWD — with no connection between the axles — could provide the final edge over the other three. As such, it makes sense that there'd be a whole lot of debate about a flagship 911 hybrid. On the other hand, such a monster seems like an eventuality in view of Porsche's electrified aspirations, the lessons gained from the 918 Hybrid and the 919 Hybrid Le Mans racer, and the fact that CEO Blume has already spoken. The Stuttgart carmaker expects a sales mix of 25 percent electric, 25 percent hybrid, and 50 percent conventional powertrains by 2025.
