HERE IS A DROP DEAD GORGEOUS LOOKING 1968 PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE NUMBERS MATCHING CAR. LOTS OF RECENT RESTORATION WORK DONE AND BEAUTIFUL COLOR COMBINATION!

Please e-mail me with questions or to set up an inspection to see the car in person. AUCTION MAY BE STOPPED AT ANY TIME.

Vehicle came out of New Hampshire. Previous owner got the car mechanically sound and drove it for the last few years. This is a FULLY MATCHING NUMBERS CAR with correct "YS" 400ci 4bbl. motor, correct transmission, correct rear end, correct and RARE Aegena Blue color (Code "E") with correct white convertible top (code "1) and correct parchment interior ("code 224"). When I got it last year I did a lot of work on it myself in my spare time. Restoration was to driver quality standards and was body-on and was done within the last few months, including complete paint/bodywork in base/clear 2 stage PPG type paint, NEW interior (seat covers, carpet, door panels, rear side panels, armrests, etc.), NEW exhaust/mufflers, NEWLY overhauled brake system, NEWLY flushed fuel system, NEW side mirror, and a few other smaller things here and there

Body is VERY STRAIGHT with excellent original gaps. Doors open and close nicely. Body does NOT appear to ever have been in any major collision.

OPTIONS:

Power steering

Power convertible top

Power antenna

In-dash clock

Manual drum brakes

Dual exhaust

MATCHING 400ci/350hp 4bbl. V8 motor

MATCHING Automatic transmission with factory His/Hers Hurst shifter

Bucket seat interior w/console

MATCHING 10 bolt rear end

Under the hood lies the MATCHING NUMBERS 400ci/350hp 4bbl. motor that is stock and has not been altered or hot-rodded. Stock intake, exhaust manifolds, carburetor, air cleaner setup and all from what I could tell. Overall it's a nice and healthy motor that fires right up, has good oil pressure and sounds great. Had it completely checked out by my mechanic and is ready to drive (I've been using it twice a month for short trips around town).  Mechanically it fires right up and sounds great along with the nice and throaty exhaust system. Transmission is solid and shifts great without any noises or grinding.

Interior is basically all stock and NEARLY BRAND NEWDoor panels are NEW. Dash pad has some cracks. Seats have BRAND NEW covers on them as well as NEW seat backs and NEW side covers. Carpet is NEW as well. NEW rear end panels. Stock steering wheel in fair shape. Console is presentable with some wear by top armrest area. Convertible top is in good shape throughout with GLASS rear window, but has two small slits by rear driver's side. Overall nicely presentable for a high end driver.

Underside has a ROCK SOLID frame with NO rot or major rust anywhere. Floorboards are excellent with NO holes anywhere that I was able to see. VERY NICE trunk pan as well.

The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in VERY GOOD shape throughout, with NICE shine and looks great but it is not absolutely show quality, so please keep in mind that it will have some very minor imperfections here and there. Panel fit is pretty good, but again not absolutely perfect to be a show winner and could use tiny adjustments here and there. Not working: wipers, clock, power antenna (not connected), hideaways (they have vacuum but do not work great, but I DO HAVE NEW VACUUM CANISTERS INCLUDED), and a bulb or two may need replacing here and there. Missing: wipers, spare/jack, radio, front valence lower trim pieces, maybe a few other smaller items. Rear driver's side window off track and needs adjustment. Window rubber should be replaced. Fan shroud should be replaced. Convertible top works and is all connected but needs hydraulic fluid as currently it needs help up or down. Small exhaust leak which you can hear in the video when car running. I am sure there are many other things the car needs.

So overall she is not perfect but she's a DAMN NICE and VERY CORRECT MATCHING NUMBERS CRUISER!. Please note, I cannot remember every single issue with the car, nor do I know everything wrong with it, as it is after all over 50 years old so keep that in mind.

If you just want a GREAT LOOKING DRIVER to play around with, then this is the car for you. If you want a 100 point concourse show car, it will need some work to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.

Porsche Sports Car Together Fest is a labor of many Porsche loves

Sat, Sep 17 2022

Over Labor Day Weekend, Porsche held its second annual Sports Car Together Fest (SCTF) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We happened to be nearby, so we swung by to check out an event we’d never heard of until a few weeks before. Reading about it on Porsche's U.S. web site made us think it would be something like Rennsport Reunion for the Midwest. Turns out SCTF is just as much of a different kind of fun. The fest Tom MooreÂ’s the man behind Dark Horse Motorsports, the motorsport consultant for Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) PR. "People love Rennsport Reunion, but thatÂ’s every three to four years," he explained. “We wanted to gather people on those off years, and we didn't want to just do a mini Rennsport, because thatÂ’s its own thing. WeÂ’ve maintained the motorsport history at Rennsport. Here [at SCTF], we're doing the current look at what Porsche racing is for." In this case, that means gathering what Moore called "our Porsche motorsport pyramid." ThatÂ’s the range of enthusiast drivers from novice to hotshoes trying to get to top-tier endurance racing, "[starting] with the progression from Porsche Club of America track days up to the top of the ladder of one-make racing in North America," the Carrera Cup North America, a series made up of nothing but the latest 500-horsepower 911 GT3 Cup cars.  The three days of racing action allowed almost any kind of Porsche owner interested in clipping apexes to compete around an Indianapolis Motor Speedway layout tweaked with an infield section. This year, that included ex-NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, coming out of retirement to reunite with his longtime NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham for the top-class Cup races.  Evernham told us Gordon hasnÂ’t raced in five years and he hasnÂ’t been a crew chief in 22. On very short practice, Gordon finished in 14th in the Pro Class in the first Carrera Cup race of the weekend driving the #24 Hendrick Performance Group Porsche, and 11th in the second race. Afterward, he said, "I made a pass on the white flag lap. That made my whole weekend Â… I must say that yesterday, I thought ‘man, I am getting beat out hereÂ’ and I donÂ’t like that. If I am going to be in an environment like this, I want to be competitive. But today turned the corner for me. So, I hope I get to do another one day."  When we strolled the paddock after the event, exposed sheet metal proved "Rubbing is racing" is a thing in the Carrera Cup as well as NASCAR.

This massive 'Knight Rider' KITT model costs over $1,400

Tue, May 18 2021

A new model of the famed Pontiac Firebird from the 1980s TV show Knight Rider is here, and it's massive. The shadowy flight into the dangerous world of this subscription-based kit by DeAgostini will result in a car that measures nearly two feet long, cost more than $1,400, and take you over two years to complete. For years, subscription-based model kits have been a tradition for hobbyists in Europe and Asia. Should you sign on, each week you'll receive a package in the mail that includes a few parts for the model and some literature on the subject. Usually there are additional collectibles and accessories, like a display case. The DeAgostini KITT kit, for example, begins with the hood for the first issue. The asymmetric bulged and scooped body panel comes with a several smaller body pieces and a small screwdriver. Issue two comes with the front fascia, KITT's red scanner light, and three of the six driving lights. Issue three gives you a tire, wheel and brake components for one of the four corners. And so it goes. When all is said and done, you'll receive 110 such packages over a span of so many weeks. In other words it'll take two years and one-and-a-half months to complete the black, 1:8 scale Pontiac. There are some discounted prices for the first few issues to get you hooked, but once you get settled in the regular price for each issue is ˆ10.99 ($13.36 USD). Here's a preview the 16-page pamphlet that accompanies the first issue. By the end, you should have a pretty comprehensive compendium of the Knight Rider series as well. The issues are available on newsstands, but subscribers get additional gifts — two 1:43 scale models, one of KITT and one of his nemesis KARR. And for an additional ˆ1.00 per issue, you'll receive an acrylic display case. As for the Knight Industries Two Thousand itself, the car appears to be incredibly detailed. As depicted on the DeAgostini website, the hood, doors, trunk and T-top roof panels all open. The red scanner lights up, the rear license plate rotates for three options, and there even seems to be a watch that commands the model to speak some of KITT's catch phrases. Knight Rider — or Supercar as it was called in Italy — told the episodic story of a former police officer, Michael Knight, who fought crime with his A.I.-powered car. As such, the TV car and the the model have a heavily computerized (by 1980s standards) dashboard and yoke steering wheel.

Burt Reynolds' old Pontiac Trans Am replica sold for $317,500

Thu, Jun 20 2019

Following Burt Reynolds' passing last September, Julien's Auctions held an estate sale of the late actor's property on June 15-16 in Beverly Hills, Calif. Hundreds of items were included in the auction, but none more valuable than the Pontiac Trans Am Bandit replica previously owned by Reynolds. It easily surpassed expectations when it sold for $317,500. Julien's, the self-proclaimed experts in contemporary and pop culture, listed 876 pieces in the sale, from cowboy boots to a driver's license to scripts. The online preview said it estimated a range of prices from $25 to $200,000. They were way off. Item No. 716 was a replica of a Pontiac Trans Am Bandit that was seen in the original "Smokey and the Bandit." Not the real car, just a re-creation. But its value comes more from who owned the ride rather than what the car was. The replica was owned by Reynolds for some years, and now that he's passed, it's coveted even more. It's not the only Trans Am item that sold at auction. Three Reynolds Trans Am model cars sold for $640, $576 and $512. A Reynolds-signed "Bandit" poster sold for $3,200. A Reynolds-signed poster from the Trans Am plant sold for $1,562.50, a Reynolds custom-built Trans Am office desk sold for $4,375, and a "Smokey and the Bandit" decorative etched glass panel sold for $896. This isn't the first time a Bandit replica has sold for big money. In 2016, a promotional Trans Am sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $550,000. We also believe the exact car sold in this Julien's auction was previously bought at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2018 for $192,500. If that's the case, somebody just made an extremely easy profit.
