On July 22, 1967 Jimmy Perkins, a US Army Sgt. from Fromberg, Montana took delivery of a Gulf Turquoise 1967 GTO HO Convertible from Mac Intyre Pontiac, in Billings Montana while he was on leave from the Vietnam Conflict .This car was Jimmys' dream car. He babied it and stored it under a cover while he was on deployement only putting a few thousand miles on it. In the summer of 1970, Jimmy Perkins was killed in combat by enemy fire earning himself a bronze star, posthumously. This car was parked front and center at Jimmys' funeral, the cabin being filled with flowers from a town that lost one of it's favorite sons.

The car then sat for another year and was traded in  by Jimmys' mother on a 1972 Pontiac Station Wagon.

The car sat in the showroom of the Pontiac dealer for years, but the story of the town behind the car would not allow the owner to sell the car. In lieu of that, he kept the car. Driving it sparingly and keeping it in top shape. Unfortunately due to declining health and business, the Pontiac dealer closed about 7 or 8 years ago. The car still has the sign from the Pontiac dealership where it was stored for decades, in a climate controlled environment...in the trunk.

The car is now being offered for the first time to the public.

The car is as original as it can possibly be. All original inspection markings and stampings are all pretty much still there. The rear springs and shocks were replaced, belts, hoses, battery, brake parts, exhaust, tires and due to the car being stored in a showroom with the top down for decades, the convertible top was also replaced. The car has not a ding nor a dent, has to my knowledge never had any paint work and is absolutely perfectly rust free and dry. There is one tiny chip in the paint at the edge of the drivers side door. Every single accessory and light and gauge works as it should. The chrome and brightwork as as nice as NOS.

The interior looks like it was never used! The only defect I could ascertain is one crack in the rim of the steering wheel.

This car looks like it is brand new. The transmission was out once to verify the #'s on top of the trans and to replace the rear main seal and replace the clutch for good measure.

This car is not going to sell cheap. I refuse to give this car away. This car is the cream of the crop in unrestored, unmolested, shape.

Call me on my cell at 312 622 7533 as this car is for sale locally and auction can and will be ended at any time in the event of a local sale.

Clean and clear title in hand.

Car includes every bit of documentation you can imagine. Protecto Plate, old registrations, ect.

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. Pontiac Aztek rises from the ashes of infamy in Firebird Trans Am guise

Thu, Apr 9 2020

What if the Pontiac Aztek, one of the most widely ridiculed vehicles ever built, was reimagined with a little flair from one of the former brand’s more legendary cars? Well, it turns out that someone not only came up with that idea, but followed up on it. And so, we present to you the Pontiac Aztek Firebird Trans Am, uh, trim package? ItÂ’s not real, of course, but it comes from Abimelec Arellano, an Hermosillo, Mexico-based car designer with too much time on his hands who goes by the name Abimelec Design. Arellano redesigned the midsize SUVÂ’s wimpy front fascia to surprising success by simply adding widened fender flares and perhaps modernizing the headlights. He also went all-in embracing the AztekÂ’s abrupt, flattened rear end by removing the rear bumper lip, adding a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler to boot. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Elsewhere, the dominating and cheap-looking gray plastic under-cladding is gone in favor of body-color panels. Arellano also added some probably larger Pontiac Snowflake wheels with gold accents that really make them pop and play well against the signature Firebird decal dominating the hood. Commenters generally fall into one of two buckets. As one put it, “I never thought the Aztek could look this good.” Others implored Arellano to do a version with a T-top. Or as one Autoblog editor put it, “So it turns out the reason the Aztek was a laughingstock failure is that it didnÂ’t come in a Smokey and the Bandit Edition. Somewhere, a dude who got shouted down in a product-planning meeting years ago is vindicated.” Sold between 2001 and 2005, the Aztek arguably reached the pinnacle of its notoriety as the metaphor for the drab, underachieving life of Walter White in AMCÂ’s meth drama, “Breaking Bad.” It came equipped with a 3.4-liter V6 that made 185 horsepower and sent it through a four-speed automatic to the front wheels, with an all-wheel drive version also available. The Aztek may have the last laugh, especially if it gets a screaming chicken. “The fact it was a controversial design and didnÂ’t sell well will make it an object of curiosity from a historical standpoint many years from now,” McKeel Hagerty, president and CEO of classic-car insurer Hagerty Insurance, told Autoblog back in 2016.

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
