1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible

A little about me: I have been a avid vintage Pontiac enthusiast for many years. I know these cars front to back. I see Pontiac engine codes in my "alphabet" cereal in the morning. My collection encompasses some of the most rare and sought after pieces that are not usually available for public sale. Unfortunately, due to being unable to work on these cars anymore for health reasons, some will be up for sale against my sound judgment. I do not need to sell this car. I do NOT need the money and this is NOT a fire sale. No lowball offers will be entertained so please don't insult me. My pieces are very rare and sought after cars. If your looking for a GTO to tinker with over the winter to take to the cruise night next summer this car is not for you. THIS CAR IS FOR THE TRUE ENTHUSIAST WHO WANTS ONLY THE BEST, UNMOLESTED, DESIRABLE CARS AVAILABLE.

ORIGINAL 52K MILE CAR

LAST ON THE ROAD 25 YEARS AGO

This 67 GTO Convertible is #'s matching down to the carb, distributor, alternator, ect. The motor and trans were gone through as the car sat forever, and reinstalled in the car but not plumbed. The interior on this GTO is 100% original and is IMMACULATE...I would put a carpet in it, and the interior would be concourse in every sense of the word. Mint Sport Deluxe Wood Wheel, Immaculate console, seats, door panels, ect. The convertible top is also new.

The body on the car retained it's original regimental red paint on it when I procured the car. It is now in primer. The car is largely rust free, however there is some rust in the passenger rear floor pan, as well as typical minor rust on the rear of the quarter panels. The frame, rest of the floors, doors, fenders, hood, deck lid. ect. are rust and bondo free. This is a very solid unit. It has factory rally 1 wheels and 3 OF THE ORIGINAL TIRES ON IT!

The car will need paint, tires, brakes, gas tank, fuel lines, ect. as candidly it's been sitting since about 1985 or so. The long block and trans were gone through and reinstalled in the car but never wired or plumbed. The chrome and brightwork on the car are very nice, except the bumpers disappeared at some point ( I've had this car a long time)

This is a excellent genlemens restoration and I'll get pictures up in a day or two

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. A case for Pontiac's return

Wed, Apr 5 2017

Sadly, many brands have disappeared off of the automotive landscape over the decades. Many people have imagined over the years of restarting defunct automotive brands. A few of those dreamers even made prototypes to shop around and to established connections with investors. But, alas poor Yorick, however valiant an effort, many brands are shuttered for good, rarely to be heard of again except in historical tales or maybe seen in car shows. So, what do you do when you win the lottery? Not just any lottery... In fact, it is a lottery that takes care of you and your loved ones for life? You and your family don't have to work, ever. You can give to charity, pay other people to do those projects that you've been putting off, and so on and so on. But, you're still a Car Nut right? There begins the conundrum. Do you buy and fix cars, new premium cars, old muscle cars, or classics, or maybe, just maybe, do you buy the rights to an old departed automotive brand and bring it back to life. Hmm. Which brand? The problem with the old Pontiac was that it was an additional badge engineered vehicle in the portfolio of GM. The meant the brand was diluted by competition from its own parent company, in addition to the competition outside the camp. So, if it were to come back, it would have to be different. Yet, it would still need to keep true to its roots at the same time in order to wake up its armies of existing fans. Even those that aren't fans of Pontiac cannot deny that Pontiac has a long heritage of legendary vehicles. So do Packard, and Studebaker, and others. So, why would a lottery winner choose Pontiac as the marque to bring back? That's easy! Pontiac's long heritage is closely tied to performance vehicles that made many of a teenager drool. Even more important though is that Pontiac is still fresh on people's minds. The brand itself is only recently departed. So, Boomers, Generation X, and Millenials all would all be able to identify with it as opposed to brand names that disappeared multiple decades ago and that now have a more limited appeal. The return of Pontiac couldn't just be another launch of a badge engineered vehicle. It would have to be performance oriented, yes. But, it would have to be unique in some way, a niche brand. What niche though? Look at the automotive landscape now and you see that Tesla is the one out there grabbing at the wide open electric niche with success.

Distracted driver crosses center line and hits police car

Wed, Apr 6 2016

Attentive driving and quick reflexes saved the life of a police officer in Hudson, WI, when an oncoming driver drifted into the officer's lane and struck his cruiser. According to KMSP, the officer was patrolling along a busy road through Hudson on March 31 when the crash occurred. Dash cam video from the patrol car which was released to local media shows the dramatic collision unfold. As the officer came around a mild left-hand curve, a white, 90s-era Pontiac Grand Am continued straight through the curve, across the center line, and directly into the officer's path. The officer was able to avoid a head-on collision, but the Pontiac still struck the driver's side of the patrol car. "Both the officer and the other driver are ok, however, this accident could have been much, much worse," said a Hudson Police Department official on the department's Facebook page. "So please remember to pay attention to your driving at all times when behind the wheel." Minnesota's Department of Public Safety estimates that one in every four crashes in the State of Minnesota are caused by distracted drivers. DPS believes that the actual number may be higher, but police often have difficulty proving distracted driving as the cause of a crash. Government/Legal Pontiac Driving Safety Coupe Police/Emergency
