Hello to all ebayers, PLEASE READ!!!.....up for your consideration and/or bid is my 1967 Pontiac GTO 421 Tri power 4 speed coupe!!!....Yea, what a "mouth full"!  And it gets better, the bidding will start at a VERY FAIR starting bid...with NO RESERVE!!!!!!!  This true American Muscle Car Classic comes in the beautiful original color combination of Signet Gold with the optional Black vinyl top option...I personally feel is the best looking color combo to ever roll off a GM assembly line!  It's been said time and time again......"a picture is worth a thousand words",...but for those interested ebayers, there is a whole lot more to be said about this GTO than just it's good looks!  First off, I've owned this classic since way back in 1987,...how time flies! Over the past 26 years I've always kept the GTO in my clean, dry garage covered over with a nice car cover and the paint reflects this fact, considering it was last painted in 1990!!!  Prior to me purchasing the GTO in 1987, it was under cover another 13 years stored in a barn,...so a combined 39 years NOT EXPOSED to the ELEMENTS greatly contributes to the overall condition. Obviously it goes with out saying,.....but I'll say it anyways so there is no guess work or confusion...the GTO has NEVER EVER been driven in the SNOW, SALT, CALCIUM CHLORIDE since I'VE owned it, furthermore it has not even seen rain or snow for decades regards to driving or just sitting out occasionally!!  This classic has been the pride and joy of my collection and the family for years,...but I've thought LONG and HARD and decided to let it go to a new home of a new proud owner.  I'm getting older now and have decided to take the proceeds and pay off my home mortgage, otherwise I'd never part with it........even then, I know it's going to be hard seeing it go down the road only to never see it again.

The following is a long list of information I've kept track of over the years that I think the perspective bidder/buyer will appreciate.  As I said,...new paint in 1990, new vinyl top in 1989, front bumper re-chromed in 1988, rear bumper re-chromed in 1991, brakes re-done in 1988 to include shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and one brake line.  It should be noted that the GTO came equipped with the 4 wheel drum Power Brake set up, and has Power Steering also.  Other items to mention,...the steering box was replaced in 1995, ALL 4 coil springs replaced in 1998, transmission refreshed (synchros and reverse gear) in 1989.  In the 26 years I've owned the GTO I've only put on about 1000 miles amazingly, getting it out of the garage occasionally on the very best of days here in the state of Maine, which can be "few and far between",...last registering it in 2003. The white lettered tires on the GTO I purchased brand new and had them mounted in 1997,....they have less than a 1,000 miles on them and are LIKE NEW even though installed years ago,......I've kept them treated and (as I mentioned earlier) being garaged (out of the sun and elements) they are perfect with no weather cracks, punchers (ever!) or imperfections at all!!!  The original 14" steel rally rims are in great shape and have never been the "victim" of a street curb,...needing a little touch up paint at best to be show quality. The tire sizes are as follows for those of you interested,...the rear being P 245 60 R-14,...and the front being P 235 60 R-14.  The GTO is a very nice automobile, but a with any older car with several decades on it,......it has a few issues that I feel need to be mentioned so the perspective bidder/buyer can be informed.  The rear main seal leaks some, the power steering leaks,.....but note that the GTO comes with several new parts in the trunk pictures including a brand NEW POWER STEERING PUMP.  The heater core just started leaking a VERY SLOW leak of antifreeze inside on the passengers side floor board.......I just caught it and have a clean paint roller pan catching the fluid so as to not stain or ruin the carpet,........which IT HAS NOT, as I said I just caught it, and it's a VERY SLOW leak.  FOR THE PERSPECTIVE WINNING BIDDER;.......If you are the high bidder, want to fly in and drive home,.........the heater hoses can be disconnected/re-connected in order to by-pass the heater core temporarily to get you home,.........then have it repaired OR I recommend replacing.  I can do this service for you if you would like,...FREE OF CHARGE.

The following is a whole list of number/letter combinations for those of you interested in running numbers,...I put the GTO up on my car lift and not only took pictures of the under carriage, but wrote down just about every number I could see.  Besides running the numbers, I'll also do my best to inform you about what I know about the drive train,......if I don't know I'll inform you of this also.  The VIN of course is;...242177B103061.  The motor is a WJ block, which makes it a 1966 421 Tri Power according to my research...the number is;...WJ 212818 at the front of the block.  In my further investigation I believe the heads are not original to this engine, the following numbers/letters were found on the heads below the valve covers;...   DN    36    H116    ...and spaced as such.  One number code was found on the intake as follows;...9782898 ...making it a 1966 I believe.  When I had the GTO up on my car lift, the following letter/number code was found on the bottom of the block on the passengers side;...GM6  9778791.   I don't think the Muncie 4 speed transmission is original, the rear-end is factory original being a 3:55 I believe,........whether or not it's a posi-trac I'm just not for certain, sorry.  The following 4 sets of numbers were found on the transmission;...3925860,........P8929,.........13N354027,.........3884685.  That's is ALL the numbers/letters I currently have,...if you know of any I missed don't hesitate to send me an email.

The GTO starts, runs, drives and goes down the road great with NO pulling to the left or right, NO squeaks, rattles, noises and burns NO oil, starts right up with ease and idles perfect!!!.  How ever,...to "jump in and just go"......keep in mind the heater core leak that I mentioned earlier may (and probably will) get worse as you drive down the road, other than that this GTO is "turn-key".  The interior as you can see is in fabulous condition and I believe is the original stock upholstery,.....the way you see it is how it has been for the last 26 years since I've owned the GTO,...I've never removed or replaced "one stitch"!!!  NOTE THE STOCK ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL which is rare and worth good money today,...especially in MINT/CRACK-FREE condition!!!  Many drivers over the years replaced these wheels always thinking they were upgrading,...I prefer the original stock wheel my self........call me old-fashioned!  You'll notice the console and bucket seats are in great shape along with the dash,...open the glove compartment and even the glove box is clean, stock and the glove box light still works!!!  The factory tachometer is original, in place, in great condition and works perfectly!  The speedometer doesn't work for the simple fact that the speedometer cable never got re-attached at time of the transmission refreshing.  All the lights and directionals worked the last time I used them. PLEASE NOTE;...there are 2 small dents in the GTO, one on the passengers side door and one on the passenger rear quarter,.......you have to look close,...but even so I want the perspective buyer to be informed.  Lastly the passenger side stainless steel rocker molding is bent in...(see pictures).  The mileage is accurate at 98,687...add approximately 1000 miles since the transmission refresh and the speedometer didn't get re-attached,...I didn't have a lift back then.  The padded dash is in real good condition, but does have one crack,...seeing  minimal time out side in the sun over the years.  You may have noticed by the pictures,...a few new parts come with GTO that are currently stored in the trunk.  As I mentioned earlier,...a NEW power steering pump, 1 NEW brake drum (rear), 1 NEW distributor cap, 1 shifting boot/4 speed, 1 metal shifting boot mount plate for the console/4 speed,NEW electrical Coil and NEW distributor cap Rotor Button....and lastly a rear valace tail light sheet metal piece that incorporates ALL the tail lights, not just one side,...(if you can't tell by the shadow obscuring the picture/and its black).  Although no oil has showed up on the garage floor, I see (according to the pictures) that the rear differential cover appears to be weeping some.

PLEASE NOTE;...anyone can get all the information they want available threw the Pontiac Historical Society according to your EXCLUSIVE VIN NUMBER as I did, in other words I HAVE DOCUMENTATION on this GTO verifying exactly what options this GTO came threw with.  In addition to the items I mentioned earlier,...(P/S, P/B)...the documentation lists,...AM/FM Push button radio with electric rear antenna (the rear mount antenna was missing when I purchased the GTO), Custom floor shift knob (4 speed only), Soft ray glass, Luggage lamp (trunk), under hood lamp, (still in place), Ignition/starter switch lamp, seat belts, Rally gauge cluster and tachometer, Rally 1 wheels, Custom Sports steering wheel, Console, Exaust extensions, Ride and handling package, Red wide oval tires, Safe-T-Track rear axle, 4 speed manual (fully synchronized).  Wow!!!...seems like a lot,...like I say, this is all documented by the Pontiac Historical Society,...and ALL the paper work I have to verify this also goes with the GTO at time of sale/pickup.

Finally, the formalities; this GTO does not come with any guarantees or warranties expressed or implied and is sold as is where is.  For the winning bidder I offer FREE delivery BUT only if you are local and/or up to only 20 miles away. If you are 21-100 miles from the GTO I offer delivery for a fee of $1.00 per mile. I do not offer any delivery options over 100 miles and I certainly do not offer any long haul options from state to state either. Any winning bidder that is in the "over 100 mile category" it is up to you to make shipping arrangements and of course all transportation and shipping costs are the expense of you...(the winning high bidder). At my discretion, I may extend the free delivery from 21-100 miles if the GTO reaches a dollar amount I deem acceptable.  I offer FREE loading assistance to you and/or the carrier of your choice should you hire one. PLEASE NOTE;...the state of Maine does not/will not issue a title for ANY automobile/vehicle of 1995 and prior. I do not have a title and the GTO comes with a bill-of-sale as ownership. ADDITIONAL NOTE;...some states will not accept a bill-of-sale as ownership of a vehicle,...PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR INDIVIDUAL STATE.   FOR THOSE PERSPECTIVE BIDDERS THAT FIT INTO THIS LAST CATEGORY,...please let me know as I have a legal document ISSUED BY THE STATE OF MAINE so that you can take this LEGAL DOCUMENT/paperwork to YOUR STATE DMV you reside in and YOUR STATE will issue you a NEW TITLE in YOUR STATE.  I've done this may of times before and to my knowledge this is the only perfectly legal way for bidders from title-demanding states to get a title for a vehicle from a non-title issuing state. I believe the pictures speak for them self, and what doesn't I've included in the description,........if you feel I have missed ANYTHING or you have ANY QUESTIONS what so ever, please feel free to send me an email and I'll answer the question(s) asap. Upon the completion of the auction I ask that the winning bidder commit to the transaction with payment in the form of a $500.00 deposit within 24 hours. I also ask that the high bidder follow-up with full payment in 7 days,  or contact me for additional time if needed.  If you have no intent of following threw with the complete payment of the auction item, please just don't bid and waste everyone's time playing games,...any non paying bidders will be reported to both ebay and all 3 major credit reporting agency's.  ********Keep watch,...a lot of interesting older/antique autos (1949-1987) coming in the next several weeks,...thanks, Bob.********

Burt Reynolds' movie re-creations fetch $379,500 in Vegas

Wed, Oct 3 2018

The recent death of Hollywood legend and automotive enthusiast Burt Reynolds helped drive up the value of four of his former cars from the 1970s and '80s, which sold last weekend at Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas auction for a combined $379,500. Reynolds, who died Sept. 6 at age 82, had offered three Pontiac Trans Ams — two of them re-creations of the cars he drove in "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Hooper" and the third from 1984 used to promote his United States Football League team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth was a 1978 Chevrolet R30 pickup truck, styled like the one featured in "Cannonball Run." The "Bandit" re-creation, a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that Reynolds ordered to be as "movie-correct" as possible but featuring a custom-built 200-4R automatic transmission, sold for $192,500. The car features a freshly built Pontiac 400 cubic-inch V8 mated to a four-speed automatic and featuring all-new Butler Performance parts and air-conditioning components. Reynolds reportedly said this was his favorite car from his films, and it even came with an authentic movie-correct CB radio and CB antenna. The red retro-rocket "Hooper" '78 Firebird, with a 403 cubic-inch V8 and a three-speed automatic, hammered for $88,000. By comparison, a gold 1978 Trans Am also offered at the Las Vegas auction but not connected to Reynolds fetched $27,500. The 1987 Chevy R30 pickup was a re-creation of the Indy Hauler pace truck seen jumping over a moving freight train in "Cannonball Run." It hammered for $49,500. The fourth car never appeared in any of Reynolds' films but is instead the only surviving example of two Trans Ams used to promote the Tampa Bay Bandits of the now-defunct USFL, having been driven out onto the field by Reynolds and his late friend and co-star, Jerry Reed, during opening day one season. It also sold for $49,500. At the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in 2016, Reynolds accompanied a 1977 Trans Am used to promote "Bandit" onto the auction block. That car sold for $550,000. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information.
