I have a 1965 GTO hardtop car that was a 389 automatic when it was born. It has been a Montana car all it's life and been stored for 20 plus years. I started the project after completing a frame off on a 65 389 tri power car, but i lost my shop and I am done. It has been torn down to start the body work and the frame. I have all of the parts plus many others. I do not have a transmission for the car. I do have a Brand spanking new fitted block that still has the original tags on it from GM. These are very rare. I only know of one other new one . I bought it several years ago for the car for 1000 bucks... The car has a hood and trunk lid on it but not the bumpers.. I have extra parts as well and I do not have a complete inventory but I do have these items. They are worth a great deal of cash. 2 F Bumpers need reconditioned 2 rear bumpers need reconditioned 2 trunk lids No Longer available through catlogues 2 Original Lemans hoods $449.95 at OPGI each. reproduction 1 Original GTO hood that is repairable ( very hard to find) 1 Original hood scoop ( $99.00 from Ames) 3 Original doors (unavailable through AMES or OPGI) extra door glass and regulators 5 Original fenders Not available through AMES or OPGI 4 Original wheel wells.. 3 are reconditioned. Unavailablre through AMES and OPGI 1 radiator support reconditioned The one on the car is repairable. Supports unavailable through AMES or OPGI. 1 set of rear springs. I have all the seat springs and some extra rear springs plus enough foam and burlap for the seats I think there is enough to do the car. 2 additional instrument bezels. Original instrument bezel has all the gauges with original speedometer showing around 75000 miles. 2 extra rear fender extensions. 2 rear Pontiac panels reapirable . Last one I bought rechromed was $1100. Original radiator rebuilt 4 core $400 NEW 1 extra grille set $250 to $350 3 original radios HARD to find new gas tank straps left side trunk repair panel new 2 windshield wiper cowls 1 rebuilt original alternator 389 bell housing 4 NEW TIRES and NEW RIMS There are a lot of other smaller parts I have accumulated the rest of the parts over several years. No transmission. |

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be
Thu, May 27 2021We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient. View this post on Instagram A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version. Junkyard Gem: 1989 Pontiac Sunbird SE Coupe
Sat, Jun 11 2022General Motors built the fantastically successful J-Body cars starting at the dawn of the 1980s and continuing well into our current century, on five continents. The Pontiac Division's version of the J started out being called the J2000 and the 2000, then got the Sunbird name originally used on the Pontiac-ized Chevy Monza starting in 1983. Here's a once-slick-looking 1989 Sunbird SE Coupe, found at a Minneapolis-area boneyard way back in 2016. The best-known of all the J-Body cars, here, was the Chevrolet Cavalier, but Pontiac far outdid even the most blinged-up Cavalier Z24 when it came to elaborate taillights. Because this is Minnesota, the car is a patchwork of various layers of junkyard-obtained rusty body parts. One fender has TURBO badges from a Sunbird GT. The other side has the correct engine badges for this model. That engine is a 2.0-liter, single-overhead-cam straight-four from an engine family originally developed for the Opel Kadett D. This one was rated at 96 horsepower when new. This one has the automatic transmission, so it wouldn't have been very much fun to drive. Check out that cool parking brake handle, though! And, hey, is that a full can of Colorado Cool-Aid in the foot well? You'd think a proper Minnesota Pontiac would at least be full of Grain Belt cans. It appears that Higley Ford in Windom, Minn., had this car on the lot at some point. Windom is closer to Sioux Falls than to Minneapolis. This final mileage total looks good for a car living in Tinworm Country. Pontiac built this generation of Sunbird from the 1988 through 1994 model years, though it was really just a facelift of the first-generation cars. Starting in 1995, the Pontiac J-Body became the Sunfire, and production continued until the J platform itself got the axe in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k
Fri, 08 Aug 2014General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.
