Last of the last? 2002 was the final year of production for the Pontiac Trans Am, and now the Pontiac name plate has been forever retired by General Motors. The days of finding a clean, unmodified, low mileage, one owner, accident free Ram Air WS6 may soon be behind us. This car has it all! 325HP LS1V8 with the Tremec 6-speed manual transmission Hurst shifter and a 3.42 Posi-traction rear end. Power door locks, power mirrors, power driver seat, electric lumbar adjustment for front seats, Monsoon 10 speaker audio system with CD player and 7 band equalizer, steering wheel radio controls, switchable traction control and, of course, lockable T-Tops. Less than 2,000 of these were made in black with the Hurst shifter for 2002, so this is a rare car.
I bought this car new with 14 miles on it. It has always been adult driven. It was garage kept in the off seasons (usually driven May - early October). The car has no dents or rust, and you can expect only minor chips, scratches or other blemishes in the paint. The interior is also very clean, though I have never shampooed the carpet, and that might remove two small stains I am aware of. The car has always been food and smoke free, and rarely had open beverages in it. The interior door panels have the all-too-common cracks, though the passenger side is very small. The T-Top carriers in the rear compartment got marked up a little, but are fully functional and 95%+ cosmetically fine as well. Not perfect, but this is a VERY NICE car. There are no mechanical problems, and so far as I know, everything works properly. The tires and battery were replaced in 2012, and the tires have less than 500 miles on them since new. The left headlamp motor was repaired correctly and the right was inspected to insure that the motor was tight to the gear housing. The only reason I am selling it is that I have to make room in the garage. My loss is your gain. The buyer will get both sets of keys, both transmitters, the owners manual, the Monroney sticker and other labels I still have. As a bonus I am going to include an AC Delco 12 disc CD changer from my 95 Trans Am. It mounts in the rear compartment and operates from either the radio or steering wheel controls. Though never mounted in this car, I plugged it in and verified that it still works. All you would need to do is get a bracket to mount it, and plug it in. Feel free to ask any questions, and happy buying! I'm also giving a breakdown of the SPI/RPO label located on the driver door: BHMRFF = Order code 2FS87 = Pontiac Firebird 2 Door Coupe BC/CC = Base coat, clear coat U8555 = Black 192 = Interior trim color Ebony

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative
Tue, 29 Oct 2013How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver
Wed, Feb 13 2019Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Rent the 1967 Pontiac GTO from the XxX films now on Turo
Tue, Jan 10 2017The process of renting a car usually ranges from mildly annoying to "I'm calling corporate to get you fired." Plainly, it sucks, but sometimes you're left with no alternative. Turo, a peer-to-peer carsharing network, has created what's essentially the AirBnB for cars. Like AirBnB, the quality and variety of the rides varies based on location. If you're in Tucson, Ariz., in the next week, go check out this 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible before the release of XxX: The Return of Xander Cage. Promotions and marketing aside, this is still the opportunity to drive one of the original muscle cars. It's not clear if this is an original GTO or a Pontiac Tempest that was converted, but does it really matter? Old cars never drive as well as you hope, so, as long as it looks and sounds awesome, who cares? The owner listed on Turo is Xander C., Vin Diesel's character from the XxX franchise. This is the car that was used in the original 2002 film, and from the photos it appears to be in better shape than many other movie cars. The exterior is mostly stock, with some slight modifications to the lighting, wheels, exhaust, and trim, with the addition of a funky looking hood scoop that the listing claims shoots flames. It's not clear if it functions as an actual intake because there aren't any notes about what rests under the hood. The listing does ask for premium fuel, so more than likely it's some variation of a high-compression V8. Inside, the dashboard looks like someone raided the AutoZone accessory aisle. There are gauges, dials, toggle switches, and readouts galore. The listing also claims the Goat is packing a rocket launcher and a weapons stash under the seat. $999 per day isn't cheap, but it's less than you'd pay for a day with one of the rent-an-exotic shops you see in Los Angeles or New York. If you're not in Tucson or the price is a little too steep, Turo has what it's dubbed the Adrenaline Collection. The name may be hyperbole, but the lineup of cars is actually really solid. A quick glance reveals a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider, and a 1969 Jaguar E-Type. The car list keeps expanding, so if this proves popular, look for more cool stuff in the future.
