Thank you for viewing my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am. I purchased this car about 2 years ago in New Jersey as a rolling chassis. There was no engine or transmission just a few boxes of miscellaneous parts. I am an ASE master technician who has worked at GM dealerships for nearly 20 years, and I wanted to build a custom Trans Am. The car has 99k on the odometer but that is only for the body since the entire drivetrain has been replaced with about 700 miles on it. The car is in EXCELLENT condition as you can see from the photos.
I purchased a NEW GM 6.0L crate engine from a dealer. The engine block, intake cover, valve covers, and coil brackets were painted GM corporate blue. I removed the heads, camshaft, timing chain and oil pump. Installed the heavy LS2 timing chain and gears, and the high performance GM oil pump. The camshaft is a custom Comp Cam 231 236 with .644 .613 lift and 111 LSA. New Corvette GM LS3 heads with upgraded .675 dual performance springs and retainers. Corvette LS7 performance lifters, chromoly pushrods, and the rocker arms are GM with the upgraded Comp Cam trunions. It has a NEW GM corvette LS3 intake, fuel rail, and fuel injectors, with a 92mm Holley Throttle Body. I installed BBK chrome long tube headers with off road y-pipe (No Converters) and Magnaflow Stainless exhaust. All of the accessories on the engine- starter, alternator, power steering pump, battery and the engine sensors are all NEW GM. it has a performance water pump and aluminum true dual core radiator with new cooling fans and a 160*f thermostat. The A/C is removed but the condenser is installed in the car to make installing the A/C easier if someone wants to. The transmission is a Brand New 4l60e purchased from BMR performance transmissions. It is a Stage 3 rated to 800hp. it shifts firm, not harsh, with the corvette servos. It has a Circle D performance 3400 stall torque converter. The rear axle is 3.73 posi with all new gears, bearings, and seals. The car was professionally dynotuned at a local speed shop with 473hp and 443tq at the rear wheels. Any conversion you use puts the engine horsepower well above 500.
The body has been completely buffed out, and the hood, rear lid and both bumpers have been professionally repainted. The engine bay was also painted and clear coated before the engine was installed. It has very few marks on it. The firebird on the WS6 ram air hood (WS5 car) was hand painted by a local pinstriper and clearcoated. It looks awesome and always gets a lot of compliments. I installed the Trans Am decals on the fenders, rear bumper, and the firebirds on the sailpanels. The interior is black leather and again in excellent condition. I installed NEW GM AC Delco window motors in both doors. The door panels do have the small cracks that all these cars have you can see in the pics, and the sunvisors are missing. The low and high beam sealed headlights have been removed and converted to 10000k H7 bulbs. I installed LED bulbs in the mirror, hatch, and marker lenses. The suspension is all original. The rims are in good condition with Falken tires with about 7 32nd tread remaining. It rides smooth. The brake calipers were painted red before installing the new cross drilled slotted rotors with ceramic brake pads.
I am listing the car as NO RESERVE and FREE SHIPPING! The shipping is only good in the lower 48 US states. A $500 immediate deposit by paypal when the auction ends. I accept cash or check, but the car doesn't get shipped until the check clears. Please don't bid if you don't have the funds. No trades. Thank you.

This classic Firebird restomod swallowed a Prius
Tue, Apr 19 2016It takes an unusual eye to look at a 1967 Pontiac Firebird and see the Toyota Prius hidden inside. But that's just the kind of eye that a creative mechanic known online as "Bill the Engineer" has. Bill is updating his old Firebird into a true classic for the 21st century and has documenting the changes over at Priuschat and EcoModder. The TL,DR version of the story: he's replacing the worn-out powertrain with the gas-electric hybrid one from a Prius V, because it turns out the two vehicles have almost exactly the same wheelbase. Bill, who's from Columbus, Ohio and doesn't want his full name used, said in his posts on the conversion project that he's made many memories with this vehicle since buying it back in 1979. Since then, a few moves, a few decades, and some time in storage meant that the car would no longer function as he wanted it to. As he wrote, "when it comes to mice in the vehicles IT IS WAR." His solution is to make new memories and making a greener vehicle, and so we wanted to ask him how things have been going. Bill's been traveling a bit recently, but told AutoblogGreen that he's now figuring out the next steps for this amazing and complicated project. "I always plan things out before I do them," he said. That's the only way something like this can work. ABG: I think we have to start with what gave you the inspiration for this project. Was it simply that you had the two cars and wanted to see them merged into one cool mashup, or was it something else? "One day my wife wondered out loud if the car could be converted into a hybrid... The rest is history." Bill: I have been the owner of my 1967 Firebird convertible since 1979 when I bought it for $750.00. I drove it for years and made many memories. Afterward it was in storage for many years during which time mice at their way into the car and trashed the interior and wiring. I started working on a conventional restoration but always ran into major problems with hidden corrosion, electrical issues and an engine on its last legs. The car was never going to be as nice as I wanted going the conventional route. One day my wife wondered out loud if the car could be converted into a hybrid like our two daily driver Prii. That got me thinking about how it could be done. The rest is history... ABG: It looks like you started in late 2014. Have things gone well since then, or has it been one hassle after another? What has been the biggest setback, and what were the biggest victories?
GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
BMX rider flips for wrecked Detroit football stadium
Fri, Jun 12 2015Detroit is littered with derelict ruins. Abandoned automotive assembly plants, sure – but also former sports venues, like Tiger Stadium in Corktown, Roesink Stadium in Hamtramck, and the Silverdome in Pontiac. BMX rider Tyler Fernengel remembers going to see the Lions and Pistons play at the Silverdome in his youth, and competed there in Supercross as a boy. The stadium hasn't been used in years, but now, with his career just picking up, Tyler has returned to film this video – riding through its halls, jumping its stairwells and flipping over its grandstands and field. It's a fitting tribute to a once-great venue of suburban Michigan. Check out the footage in this latest clip from Red Bull.
