This is an extra clean car that has only been driven during the spring, summer, and/or fall months and is in very good condition.  Car has been cleaned inside and out (AND under the hood and around the door jams).  Oil changes have been done each year with Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic and K&N Oil Filter.  Last oil change was on 4/5/2014.  I only put 500 miles to 2000 miles each year on the car so I change the oil every year.

All items on the car are stock, except for:
-SLP Cold Air Induction (adds 5 to 15 HP for a total of 310 to 320)
-Drilled, slotted, zinc coated racing rotors that do not rust

1999 Trans Am Features:
-5.7 Liter LS1 V8 (305 HP + 5 to 15 with the Cold Air Induction)

Condition Notes:
-Interior is immaculate (only 1 small crack in plastic about 1" long on passenger side door - a typical issue with this generation of TA - this is a FIND with only 1 small crack)

-Under the hood is very good and clean, has been cleaned regularly

History:
I am looking to sell this wonderful car that I have enjoyed for the past 8 years.  I purchased the car from my friend's mother in August of 2006 with around 59,000 miles.  After 8 years of tender care, my son and family require more of my time and I don't want to be lax with care of the vehicle this year.  I am the 3rd owner of this automobile as my friend's mom purchased the car when it was 2 years old in 2001.  They moved to FL shortly after and the car was brought back to IL for me when I purchased it in 2006.

Shipping:
Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipment of the automobile (both costs and handling - buyer can use UShip as outlined here on EBay).  Local buyers are welcome to schedule time to view the vehicle and test drive.  Please contact me through EBay if you would like to do so.

Payment:
$500 Deposit required via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close and before shipping or pickup.

Remaining payment due 7 days via Cashiers Check or Cash In Person.

Car is sold as is. No Warranty. I reserve the right to close the auction if vehicle sells locally.

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
