1999 pontiac firebird. this car was abandond on privite property in chicago. it was towed into my yard by my towing service. the car was sitting for about 5 years or so from what i can figure.no one claimed the car and it became my car.i had a set of keys cut for it and put a battery in it,and it cranked rite over but wouldn't start. i put a new fuel pump in it (which cost almost 400.00) and still no fire, so we put brand new injectors in it and it fired up and ran great.then i put new plugs and a new belt.the power windows where very slow,so i put new window motors in and they work fine. the tires where dry rotted and the brakes where shot, so i put new rotors and pads all the way around and a brand new set of tires.the body has some scratches maybe from some one keying it and the scratches were half ass touched up and looks ok. the bumpers are in good shape and have no chacks.the interior is good overall with a crack in the drivers door panel and the drivers sun visor is off. the t=tops work and do not leak from what i can tell. the car runs GREAT.i had a keyless entry put on. the miles are 45,827 original. when you tow a abandond car in illinois, you can only get a rebuilt title and then have it inspected and send the paperwork to sos and then they issue you a clear illinois title, the only difference is it has "rebuilt" in the legands column. thats what i did. i have a clear title that can be transfered to anyone. i was going to keep the car for myself, but i need another car like i need a another hole in my head! if i kept every car i wanted ,i would be broke. this is a real nice car, with a new paint job it would be MINT!

'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers
Tue, May 30 2017A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list. This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
