PLEASE READ FIRST.....

I really do not want to get ride of this car, but I just do not have anymore time for it and it has been sitting in my garage since the summer. I started a paint project back in April but never had the time to finish so the whole car is sanded, needs a paint job. It is a project car and could use some attention. I pulled the motor and rebuilt it, replacing nearly every gasket, seal, bearing, etc...I have tons of pictures of my work and kept almost every receipt of what I bought for it. The body has about 120K on it but the rebuilt motor has about 10K. I replaced the gauge cluster about a year ago so the mileage is off (reads about 138K). I got it tuned last year by Race Proven Motorsports in DE and it made 405rwhp (I have the paperwork to prove it). Recently, the idle has been acting up a little and when driving on the highway it seems to hesitate, could maybe use a retune. This car has been my life since I bought it, but I am getting older and need the money for other things. I have kept up with maintenance changing the oil (Mobil 1 synth) every 2500 miles. Here are all the specs on the car:

EXTERIOR

- TSP True Dual 3" to 2.5" custom exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers (pictures included)
- Pacesetter long tube headers that were ceramic coated 2 years ago.
- 295/45/17 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials in the rear
- 10.5"X17 Torque Thrust Wheels by American Racing in rear, knock off brand in front
- BMR Torque Arm Red powdercoated
- BMR lower control arms
- Bilstein rear shocks
- BMR front sway bar
- Sphoon solid Motor Mounts
- Stock Rear Axle with reinforced differential cover

INTERIOR

- Corbeau Sport Seats
- Aftermarket sound system (Pioneer speakers in front, Alpine 6X10 in rear, JVC 10" Subwoofer, 600 Watt Amp)
- The interior was originally gray but I repainted and converted every panel to black.
- MGW short shifter
- White faced gauges
- A pillar gauge housing with Oil Pressure and Oil Temp gauge

MOTOR

- 5.7L LS1 Aluminum block (rebuilt, hot tanked)
- TSP 233/239 camshaft with 114lsa
- LS7 Lifters
- Comp Cams 7.4" Pushrods
- SLP high flow oil pump
- FAST 92mm throttle body
- FAST 92mm Intake manifold
- Casting #799 Aluminum heads

TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH

- Rebuilt T-56 (rebuilt about a year ago by Gold Seal Transmission in Ramsey, NJ)
- 6 puck clutch by F1 Racing
- New clutch master cylinder
- New slave cylinder

This car is a ton of fun and I want to see it in good hands! I don't really want to give it up but I need the money on other things right now. I would like to see what kind of offers I can get considering it needs a paint job and another tune possibly. It is probably a simple fix but I don't have the time to be messing around with it. Contact Nick at 845 598 6373. Thanks!

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Drive plays Smokey, Bandit with turbo Trans Am

Sun, Jun 28 2015

The modern trend for powertrains can be summed up with the simple maxim: cut displacement and add forced induction. Whether you are looking at the just-introduced 2016 Chevrolet Cruze or a BMW M3, this adage holds true. However, Pontiac's attempt at the idea goes all the way back in 1980 with the Firebird Trans Am and its turbocharged 4.9-liter V8. Drive's Mike Musto takes out a 1981 example to explain what makes this largely forgotten muscle car so special, and it certainly isn't performance. While a 4.9-liter V8 might sound like a lot in the modern world, keep in mind that only few years before the second-generation Trans Am was available with up to a staggering 7.5-liters of displacement. Turbocharging of road cars in the early '80s was quite archaic by today's standards, and the Firebird only managed around 200 horsepower with this mill. Without much go, the turbo Trans Am made up for a lack of power with lots of show. As Musto points out, the famous flaming chicken adorns practically every surface you can see on the coupe, and boost lights on the hood illuminate when the turbo is spinning. Musto still finds a lot to like about the turbo Trans Am. He even calls it "Burt Reynolds as an automobile." Find out why the coupe is so special in this entertaining clip.

2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
