For sale is a very rare 1991 model Trans Am GTA with original 74K Miles. This car has been in storage for the past 13 years. It was part of the inventory of a car dealership that closed a few years ago. The title is clear. Low miles, all original and it used to run perfectly, with ice cold air, but unfortunately it was parked for a few years without starting it, and the darn rats may have chewed through some wiring.

Needs tires, won't start due to some sort of problem getting fuel to the engine, and has a foot long dent/scratch from a boat trailer backing into the right front fender.

The car ran great but wasn't started for over 2 years. When I tried to start it, the gas in the tank was bad, so I had to drop the tank and do a bunch of work, including new relays, pumps, and a whole lot of other tune-up and electrical work in excess of $1000. But the car won't start and stay running. The best estimate is that there is some sort of wiring problem (there is a red wire that has been chewed through and it may have something to do with the fuel system). If you spray starter fluid in the intake manifold, the engine will run momentarily. So I really think the problem is with getting fuel somewhere down the line. As I said, the miles are really low and the car ran great before being parked for a couple of years. If you are mechanically inclined, my loss will be your gain, as I am selling it at a fraction of original cost.

Since the title is not in my name and is still marked in the possession of the car dealership that is now out of business, this car can only be sold to someone who can register it in any state other than California. If you are a CA resident, please note I cannot sell this to you.

Please contact me with any questions prior to bidding.

$250 deposit after auction closes but no later than 24 hours, via PAYPAL. Balance due by cash or money order only.

Car is currently in Julian, CA and must be towed away from there on a FLAT BED truck. Buyer is responsible for transportation costs.

Thanks for looking.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
