For sale is this 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with Fisher T-Tops, this car is in excellent condition for it's age and will make a great project if you're looking to build a show car or just a fun hotrod for the weekends. I have recently acquired the vehicle and do not have all information about the car but will tell you what I know.

First off, this thing runs great! The cars original 4.9L 301 V8 was replaced with the Pontiac 6.6L 400 V8 a couple years ago and not sure how many miles are on it. They painted the motor but does have some areas of paint that have came off you can not see these in photos but overall the engine compartment id really clean. Has an Edelbrock intake and a 600 cfm 4 barrel carb.The transmission is a 3 speed auto and is most likely original. Rear gears are 3:43 and the current mileage is about 85K and if they are original is unknown.

The car has 4 wheel disc brakes so most likely came with the WS6 suspension package but this is not confirmed since I don't have the original sticker.

The car was originally red w/ red interior, previous owners had the interior painted and dyed to match new paint. With new paint came new decals and the 6.6L decal is now used on the hood to reflect the current motor. There are minor chips and dings in the paint in misc places and all are very minor, some chips in the interior show some of the original red. It is missing the t-top trim on the interior but does not affect the operation at all.

The body itself is 99% rust free, it has an under coating also. Very solid body. The seals are in decent condition for it's age, I would recommend new seals for the t-tops at the minimum.

Along with the upgraded motor, paint and interior carpet the car has new tires, brakes, shifter cable, shocks and 3 inch exhaust.

Power windows work good, the passenger side switch has to be wiggled at time but works, the power door locks DO NOT WORK, i have even looked into it to see if it's a fuse or something else but neither side operates but can still be locked manually.  The e brake is not connected and will be to be fixed along with the horn. The fan for the heat/ac is pretty slow and could be replaced. A/C has not been tested but was told it works just needs to be charged.

That's about everything I know, overall this is an excellent car and turns a lot of heads. Now here's the details on the Auction, PLEASE read this carefully so there's no confusion.

$1 start and a very reasonable reserve, If the reserve is met I'll be asking a $1500.00 NON REFUNDABLE deposit at time of auction close by pay pal only so PLEASE make sure you want this car if you're going to bid, If the deposit is not made with in 24 hours i will give a second chance offer to the next high bidder. Final payment will be CASH or Cashiers Check ONLY. LOCAL PICK UP ONLY, if you want to make arrangements to have the car transported that's fine. I'm also selling this vehicle through other avenues so I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. Please ask any questions you may have and I'll do my best to answer them quickly.

Thank you for looking and good luck!

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Sun, Nov 28 2021

John DeLorean began his career working on Packard's Ultramatic Twin transmission, but he made his greatest mark on the automotive industry during his 1956-1969 tenure at GM's Pontiac Division. There, he helped develop the first production car engine with a quiet timing belt instead of a noisy chain, among other engineering feats, but his real fame came from the development of two money-printing models based more on marketing than machinery: the GTO and the Grand Prix. While the GTO gets all the attention now, the Grand Prix set the standard for the big-selling personal luxury coupes that sold like mad for decades to come. Today's Junkyard Gem is an example of the most powerful Grand Prix available at the turn of the century, found in a Denver-area self-service yard during the summer. The Grand Prix got front-wheel-drive for 1988 and a sedan version for 1990, but then something very beneficial happened in the 1997 model year: supercharging! Various flavors of the venerable 3.8-liter Buick V6 engine (itself based on the early-1960s Buick 215 V8 and thus cousin to the Rover V8) received Eaton blowers, starting in the 1992 model year. The Grand Prix didn't get its introduction to forced induction until the 1997 model year, but it kept the boosted option until the final Grand Prix rolled off the line in 2008 (the final Pontiac followed within a couple of years). This one made 240 horsepower, making it King of Grand Prix engines until the 2005 model year (when the GXP and its 303-horse V8 engine showed up). The very last year for a Grand Prix with a manual transmission was 1993 (there had been a three-pedal Grand Prix drought from 1973 through 1988, just to put things in perspective), so this car has the mandatory four-speed automatic. The Grand Prix lived on GM's W platform for its last two decades, making it sibling to the Impala, Regal, and Intrigue in 2001. Until the 2004 model year, every W-Body Grand Prix was built at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City (no, the other Kansas City). Production of the final generation of Grand Prix took place in Ontario. It seems fitting that this car's final pre-crusher parking spot would be between two other GM products of the same era: a Monte Carlo and a Vibe. GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher.
