1971 Pontiac Formula 400 Firebird.  I bought this car 18 months ago from the original day one, loving owner.  Tuned it and fixed a couple of minor items.   It is a fully restored, numbers matching, completely unmolested car in Quezal Gold with Black interior.  Auto trans with console, A/C, Power Brakes and Steering.  Original AM/FM radio, honeycomb wheels (just as originally ordered) and brand new tires.  Odometer reads 56,560 miles...I assume that to mean 156.5k, but not relevant since the restoration.
I have the original Georgia title (4/14/71), and the original Installment Sales Contract for $5215 with a loan of $2086 at 11.52%!  Also have the original Bill of Sale, the original Sales Contract Agreement with Smith-Johnson Pontiac, GA, and the owners log of every expense from 1971 to 2011.  There are a couple of small paint cracks in the elastomer nose, as usual with these cars - see the pic.  Otherwise, everything works, looks and runs perfectly...couldn't be nicer. The trim rings for the wheels are in the trunk (see pic) and perfect...just not mounted at this time.
I am not a dealer.  This is a private sale from my personal collection.  I have owned 110 different cars over the years.  If  I tell you it is 'nearly perfect', then 1) that's because no car is perfect, and 2) you can believe what I say.  This is a full #1 condition vehicle.
I have 110 additional recent pics.  All those original documents referred to above are in picture format for email.
Need answers?....write me.  Happy to field all questions.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
