This is a great project that I'm putting up for auction but make no mistake it is a project. Up for Auction is a 1970 1/2  Pontiac Trans Am with Ram Air III 400 CID engine. This is a complete numbers matching original. Along with the Trans Am comes a donor car which is also a 1970 Firebird. I have owned this pair for about 6 years and intended to do a complete restore of the Trans Am. Unfortunately I have run out of time and am offering this opportunity to the highest bidder. If you have been watching the value of these cars rise then you know just how profitable a project like this can be. Read on for the details.

This car needs a full restoration most body panels are rusty and the trunk floor is rusted through also.  The doors, front fenders, rear quarters and even the roof have rusted through and will need to be replaced. The floor pan seems to have survived for some reason which I guess is a plus. The hood is not rusted through and I think can be saved but it will need to be stripped and some straightening will be required. The inner front fenders and firewall also seem to be solid. The interior is also rough but it is complete. The seats are good cores but will need to be restored as will all the fabrics like the carpet and head liner etc.
The 1970 base firebird donor car has a complete interior and the body also has some rust and bond but keep reading as I have new body panels included in the auction listed below. The donor car has a salvaged title and can only be used for parts. The Trans Am has a clear Title There is only a partial engine in the donor car not that it matters much since you wouldn't want to use that in the Trans Am.

THE GOOD STUFF
Beside the donor car all the parts I have collected over the past 6 years to get prepared for the restoration will also be included in the auction. Here is a partial list of parts both used and NOS that are included.

OTHER GOOD NEWS - The engine is a 400 CID RamAir III numbers matching with numbers matching card, distributer, exhaust manifolds etc. etc. The engine is supposed to be a good running engine but I can't vouch for it since I have not had it running. I would recommend that the carb be rebuilt at the very least and you will certainly want to remove it and have it inspected to see what it may need.  It also has a good set of factory Ralley wheels with new tires. The transmission is the original transmission and numbers matching for the car. All receipts for everything that comes with the cars will be included with the purchase.

Let's be honest, I have about $17,000 invested in this project and have done a great deal of work procuring all the parts I have and the donor car. Once completed it is not unreasonable to realize a substantial increase in value 3-4 times the investment.

Please DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE MEANS TO COMPLETE THE DEAL. Don't forget that your bid is a binding contract. Keep in mind that you will have to trailer these cars and neither is drivable right now so to ship them will be a significant undertaking. I will help all I can to load things up on your truck or trailer but ultimately the shipping is your responsibility.

As you can imagine I am not able to offer any guarantee. As the first line of this description indicates this is a project. I will require a $500 deposit with Paypal within 24 hours of the auction close and the balance in certified funds within 5 additional days of the auction close. You should plan to pick up everything within 20 days unless other arrangements have been made.

Please ask all your questions well before the end of the auction. Also give me a little time to respond since I can't monitor my Ebay account all day.

I reserve the right to end the auction early since it is also listed locally.

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Pontiac Sunbird convertible, with extremely rad W25 Appearance Package

Sun, Dec 22 2019

Radwood has sparked a revival in the appreciation of goofy 1980s and 1980s automotive fashions, from neon-colored tape stripes to excessive TURBO badging to ads featuring horrifying Nagel-style women with radio faceplates instead of eyes. I see a lot of discarded cars that would have been ideal to bring to Radwood, and today's Junkyard Gem is even radder than, say, a purple Mercury Tracer Trio or a teal Chevy Beretta GT or even the elusive Dodge Daytona IROC R/T (yes, there were IROC Daytonas): a genuine Pontiac Sunbird SE convertible with the W25 Appearance Package and Bright White Star wheels. The W25 package got you a white Sunbird with kicky script badging, white wheels, and — if you opted for the optional 3.1-liter V6 — these candy-cane-influenced red-and-white displacement badges on the fenders. Now this is rad! The white interior got dirty fast, especially if the owner left the convertible top down, and these wheels were tough to keep clean for more than a few hours. This one appears to have spent many years sitting abandoned with the top down, judging by the completely trashed interior. The base engine for 1992 was the good old Cavalier four-banger, complete with 111 horsepower. This 3.1-liter engine made a respectable-for-1992 140 horses, for plenty of torque-steery, tire-squealy fun. As a J-Body car, the Sunbird was a sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier in 1992 (the J-based Cadillac Cimarron, Oldsmobile Firenza, and Buick Skyhawk departed before the end of the 1980s). Starting in 1994, the Pontiac Sunfire replaced the Sunbird, continuing in production all the way through the demise of the J platform in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
