I am selling my 1969 Pontiac Firebird. I started restoring it but do not have the time and money to finish it so my loss is your gain. I have the PHS history of the car which goes with it. The car was originally a 350 with a 3spd manual. I am selling it as a roller but for an additional $650, I will include the "73 400 smallblock and 4-spd Saginaw that I intended to put in it.

Here's what I did to it:
had the subframe sandblasted and painted
powdercoated the
control arms
replaced front coil springs, control arm bushings and ball joints
replaced all steering components except steering box
put a power disc brake conversion on the front
put a new trunk pan in
had floor pans replaced
had a full quarter put on passenger side and partial quarter put on drivers side
had both outer wheelhouses replaced
put on competition engineering subframe connectors
put a new radiator support on it
i think that's all of it

The car comes with front fender repair panels, back window (not installed) and side windows (also not installed), and rear bumper (also not installed. doesn't look the best but its a bumper). Comes with seats too-the pics of the floor pans don't show them

The buyer is to arrange pickup of the vehicle and pay all costs involved. A deposit of $100 is required within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The remainder of the payment is due when the car is picked up. I will work with you on pickup but I will not sit on the car and wait any longer than 2 weeks. If the car is not picked up within the 2 weeks, you will lose your deposit.

I have the car listed on my local Craigslist also so if the car disappears, I sold it around here.

PLEASE email with questions before bidding. Thank you and thanks for looking.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
