1968 Pontiac Firebird Sprint OHC

this is a running and driving car, a real AZ/NM survivor
still retains its original Sprint OHC 4.1 Litre Sprint straight 6
(rated back then at I think 215 hp), because of its 4v carb.
special cam, hi flow intake manifold and dual exhaust manifolds
(thank you John DeLorean once again ) other options include
PS, 4 spd transmission & dealer installed A/C..
read on !

aprox 1200 of these cars where made and face it most had V8 swaps
done to them, so 1 this original as a survivor is extremely rare.
My guess less then 500 left this original.

Some surface rust sure, but its hard to distinguish the old Burgandy
color from primer, from some surface rust (which easy sands off
in a few minutes..)

Although its been sitting for many yrs not being used, it came
back to life pretty easily with some fresh gas and a battery.
It obviously still needs a total restoration, but you are starting
with an amazingly straight body front to back with all original
sheetmetal and 90% of its original paint gone down to bare metal.
Windshield was pretty beat up, so I just removed it completely
so it was easier to see. Rest of the glass is good and original.
I didnt drop the gas tank yet, but I may this week to see if the build
sheet is there.

The 14x7 Rallys shown in the car disc brake versions DONT come
with the car, but ARE AVAILABLE OPTIONAL for $500 more.
The car will come with some steel rollers with the original
very cool 14" Pontiac Wheel covers (see pics)

DRIVETRAIN:  as mentioned earlier, its the original surviving
4.1 L 6cyl matted to a factory 4 spd transmission, stock rearend
with interestingly enough, multi leaf rear springs. Not sure what
gears came in it stock. It really should be more tuned up.
We did a cap and rotor, but should have new wires, plugs etc.
Starts with a few pumps of the gas when its cold and idles okay
too once its warmed up a few minutes.
New owner may want to clean the gas tank out, even with the
new gas, the exhaust smells a little like old gas.

INTERIOR: The original vinyl showing its age and its obviously
sun beat and worn, but its mostly complete and would restore
with less issues. Floorboards got rust from the inside, and Ive
seen some holes, but some areas there may want to be replaced
during the resto. But the rust isnt from salt and snow and much
less rust then an eastern car this old.
In the dash it has a factory 160 Speedo and factor Hood tach too.
The underdash AC is pretty sweet and contours well the the
stock lower dash. Trunk very solid.

EXTERIOR: Original color was burgandy (most gone)
but alot of the misc trim pieces and emblems NOT shown on the
car still come with the car in the trunk (see pics)
The body very straight for its age and about as rust free as
youll find for a non restored car.
All the trim seems to be there too. No signs of bondo
or previous damage anywhere.
Still needs full resto, but this is a great starting point
for an easier more profitable restoration or keeper !

SUSPENSION: all factory and original, nothing special but goes
down the road okay for a non restored car.
Drives down the road well for an older car.

This car is 90% rust free Arizona car

Check out ALL the pics below ----->
not sure why people would bid on a car so far away with
small pics showing no details like under the car, but with
OUR ADS, we almost take the car apart to take the pics
our customers deserve !!

it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll
bar on the right side.

keeping the metal on our cars more preserved then most states.

I Have a set of 2013 18" Camaro rims with tires on them
with the proper spacers too. If the winner is interested them

There you have it, probably The BEST represented Firebirds on Ebay.
Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them.
We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows.
People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale
and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats
paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end.
Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days
speaks volumes.

Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort
of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating.
People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are
fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.

Our auctions have NOTHING to hide .
Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know
exactly what you have in the end.

Email us with ANY questions before you bid please
If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles
youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !!
Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself.
Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor
intensive which means overall cost is less too !
With less horrid surprises later on.
Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you.
With other auctions,  you really dont know what to expect
until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER
with great pics to help making your decision easier.
Along with ANY other questions you may have.

Burt Reynolds’ former 1978 ‘Smokey’ Pontiac Trans Am in big auction by feds

Mon, Oct 21 2019

A 1978 Pontiac Trans Am once owned by Burt Reynolds as a memento of the car he drove in the film “Smokey and the Bandit” will be among nearly 150 muscle cars and luxury vehicles seized from the alleged perpetrators of an $800 million investment scheme that will hit the auction block this weekend in California. ItÂ’s said to be the largest single-owner car collection ever auctioned by the U.S. Marshals, seized late last year from Jeff and Paulette Carpoff, the founders of the now-defunct mobile solar generators company DC Solar. Two employees of the San Francisco Bay Area solar energy company, certified public accountant Ronald Roach, 53, and general contractor Joseph Bayliss, 44, both of the Bay Area. pleaded guilty Tuesday to participating in what federal prosecutors say was a massive scheme that defrauded investors of $1 billion. Both men agreed to cooperate in the ongoing investigation. While the Carpoffs, the company's owners, have not been charged, they agreed to let the government auction their collection of 150 classic, performance and luxury vehicles, including the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am once owned by Burt Reynolds. The replica of the car the late actor drove in "Smokey and the Bandit" and the other vehicles are to be auctioned Saturday, with online bidding already pushing the accumulated value past $5.5 million. Bidding on that Trans Am alone had topped $65,000 by late Tuesday. The auction company said it had been driven less than 3,400 miles. It's the largest single-owner car collection ever auctioned by the U.S. Marshals Service. Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Lasha Boyden of the Sacramento office called it "a stunning collection of vehicles" that also includes 1990s Humvees, 1960s-era Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros from several decades, plus older cars including a 1939 Buick Roadmaster, a 1951 Chevy Thriftmaster 3100 pickup truck and a 1941 Plymouth Special Delux with wooden doors and trim. “It is rare for the U.S. Marshals to hold an auction of such a stunning collection of vehicles,” Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Lasha Boyden in Sacramento said in a statement. ReynoldsÂ’ former Trans Am is a hardtop memento of the version he drove in the 1977 action comedy. It bears Bandit Run logos in the rear window and upper windshield and appears to have modified suspension components and bucket seats. It comes with a Florida registration with ReynoldsÂ’ name on it, and an autograph on the glove box that reads, “Be Safe!

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE

Sat, Dec 2 2017

Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. Even the wretched Daewoo-built Pontiac LeMans gets more screen time than the forgotten 6000 in this 1991 TV ad featuring the voice of Captain Picard. This GTO-El Camino mashup is the muscle truck of our dreams

Fri, Aug 31 2018

There were a hell of a lot of great muscle cars in the mid-1960s, from the baroque Dodges and Plymouths of the earlier part of the decade to the wild big boys like the Boss 429 and Olds 442 W30. Right in the middle of the decade, two of the most iconic of the bunch emerged — the Pontiac GTO and second-generation Chevy El Camino. And this one is a 1964 Chevy El Camino with the heart and face of its GTO cousin, and dubbed the El Chieftain GTO. It's currently for sale at RM Sotheby's Auburn auction, with no reserve status or estimate listed. This looks like a product that Pontiac could have sold at the time — its builder, Ron Lindeman, did an excellent job making it look like a factory product, right down to the taillight strakes inspired by the GTO. It's powered by a 389 — a Pontiac motor that was actually found in period GTOs, but sporting a single four-barrel instead of the sexy Tri-Power setup. It is, however, equipped with a Hurst four-speed manual and the grille badge to prove it to bystanders. Even the interior is made up to look like a GTO. We wish there was more of a description of the build in the listing, but if you love it, do us one better and buy the thing and invite us to poke around it. We are very much in love with this muscle-truck mashup.
