1967 Pontiac 400. I bought this to restore and have gotten all of the major stuff done. Between work, going back to school, and life getting in the way I just don't have the time or patience right now. My wife would like to get the garage space back too.
I bought the car and had it shipped from the Seattle area. The body was extremely straight and in overall really good condition and there was no chassis/frame rust when I got it. The body of the car is 100% complete and finished. It has an original set of wheels on it with good tires. I have all the glass except the windshield. The car has the full front clip, bumpers, valence, headlights, tail lights, door handles, window cranks, wiring harnesses, steering wheel/column, gas tank, exhaust, engine, transmission, brand new car cover, and so much more. I also have a body bolt kit and interior/exterior screw/bolt kit. I can tell you much more detail about it if you're interested. Here is a list of some of the things I've already done: Engine and Transmission: -Pontiac 400 engine fresh from machine shop w/ receipts (Wills Machine Shop - Chamblee, GA) -bored .60 over w/ brand new pistons and rings -new bearings (rod, cam, main) -crank turned and journals polished -Lunati 292 cam and lifters -6x heads ported and polished, full valve job (also done by Wills) -rebuilt Holley 750 carb -engine block and heads painted OE Pontiac metallic blue -Edelbrock performer aluminum intake -GM Turbo 400 transmission -new transmission pan (chrome) -new chrome radiator -all new gaskets -new oil pump, new fuel pump, new water pump, new oil pan (chrome), new valve covers (chrome), new breather (chrome), 2 distributors, cap, wires, 2 alternators, pullies, and much more Body and Exterior: -new paint job, gun metal gray metallic, has never left the garage -new floor pans -new 400 hood with inserts/scoops -rear spoiler -new front fenders and fender extensions -new front shocks and coils -new rear shocks -upgraded rear multi-leaf suspension with traction bars -2 layers of dynamat (sound deadener) on floor and roof, 1 layer inside the doors -new body bushings -disc brake conversion kit on front -new door handles Interior: -new complete black interior to include OE style seat padding/covers, headliner, door panels -new carpet with jute padding and rubber under layer for extra sound deadening -dash and door interiors painted to match the body -instrument cluster painter to match dash -new sail panels and rear armrests -new package tray -original center console with wiring harness (excellent condition) -original kick panels painted black -new ignition switch, door/trunk/glove box lock set -new window cranks There is a lot more I have. The interior is done, the bucket seats just need bolted in. The engine is sitting on a stand. I just need to find the time to put the timing cover/water pump on and bolt the oil pan on and it's done. I'd estimate that 90% of anything you need is already here, it just needs installed (wiring harnesses, brake lines, fuel lines, etc). If you have the technical "know how" you should be able to get this up and running pretty easily. You won't have to put much more in to be 100% restored. I'll definitely consider shipping it if needed. If you're local you are welcome to come take a look, email, text, or call me anytime with questions. I work midnights so I'm always up late and home during the day. Like I said, all the big stuff is done. It's the little things and getting it all put back together and finished that I just don't have the time for. It's unfortunate because I've always wanted a 1st generation F-body. Now is just not the time. I can email/text more pictures and I'd be happy to take video and send that too. The car is for sale locally as well. Thanks for looking. A YouTube video of the car can be found by searching "1967 Pontiac Firebird 400" and my username is rbell944 *** I would consider a trade for a Nissan 300zx twin turbo in very good condition. Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
Junkyard Gem: 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT
Wed, Nov 2 2022If you like affordable, mid-engined two-seaters, the 1980s were your decade. Fiat (and, a bit later, Bertone) offered the X1/9, Toyota sold MR2s, and even General Motors got into the act by creating the Fiero. Available from the 1984 through 1988 model years, the Pontiac Fiero showed plenty of promise but ended up being mostly disappointing, in some ways echoing the career of the Chevy Corvair of a couple of decades earlier. Today's Junkyard Gem is a once-spiffy 1986 Fiero GT, found in a self-service yard near Denver, Colorado. After a long and painful development period stretching all the way back to John DeLorean's XP-833 Banshee (which ended up being a major influence behind the original Opel GT), the Fiero finally debuted in 1983 as a 1984 model. The top-of-the-model-range GT appeared the following year. The Fiero was built as a notchback coupe and as a fastback, with all the GTs being the latter type. I couldn't get the engine lid open, but this car would have left the assembly line (in Pontiac, Michigan) with a 2.8-liter V6 rated at 140 horsepower. This car has a five-speed manual transmission, making it a credible rival for Toyota's MR2. The 1986 MR2 was less powerful than the Fiero GT (112 horsepower versus 140), but also scaled in significantly lighter (2,459 pounds against the Pontiac's 2,780 pounds). The MR2 also cost less, priced at $11,298 while the Fiero GT cost $12,875 (that's about $30,540 and $34,805, respectively, in inflation-adjusted 2022 dollars). Meanwhile, the $6,998 Honda Civic CRX two-seater lured away many potential Fiero buyers despite being a front-engined/front-wheel-drive car, and the $7,186 Ford EXP/Mercury LN7 also put a dent in Fiero sales. I can't find a price for the 1986 Bertone X1/9, but it cost a hard-to-believe $13,990 in 1984. GM still was using five-digit odometers in many vehicles by the middle 1980s, but this Fiero has a six-digit unit and thus we can see that it nearly achieved 150,000 miles during its driving career. The 1984-1987 Fiero suffered from a parts-bin suspension design, with the front suspension borrowed from the Chevrolet Chevette and the entire rear transaxle/suspension assembly lifted from the front end of the Chevrolet Citation. For the 1988 model year, GM finally spent the money to design an improved Fiero-specific suspension … and then promptly put a halt to production.
One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars could be yours
Fri, Apr 12 2019LOS ANGELES — One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars is going up for auction in June along with some of his cowboy boots, hats, sports jackets and other items from his estate, Julien's Auctions said on Friday. The two-day auction in Beverly Hills, authorized by the actor's family, comes almost a year after the death at age 82 of the charming star who was one of Hollywood's favorite actors. The highlight of the auction is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am car that Reynolds used on photo shoots and drove on the Bandit Run cross country rally, which re-enacts the journey at the center of his 1977 film "Smokey and the Bandit." The car, which Reynolds co-owned with his business partner Gene Kennedy, is expected to fetch up to $500,000 at auction, Julien's said in a statement. Two pairs of leather cowboy boots — one red and one yellow — are also offered for sale with estimates ranging from $800 to $2,000 a pair, along with two cowboy hats. Reynolds started out as a football player at Florida State University (FSU) before injuries suffered in a car crash wrecked his hopes of a professional career. But his attachment to FSU remained strong. The auction includes several custom or personalized FSU baseball, basketball and varsity jackets. Other highlights include an oil on canvas painting of the actor's favorite horse titled "Cartouche," which carries an estimate of $20,000 - $30,000. Other art works, furniture and dozens of personal items are also being offered for sale. The auction will take place in Beverly Hills on June 15 and 16, and will be preceded by a public exhibition of some of the items from June 10-14. Reynolds, who was also known for the 1960s television series "Gunsmoke" and the movies "Deliverance" and "Boogie Nights,"" died of a heart attack in Florida in September 2018.
