DESCRIPTION

For sale is an 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT with 95,305 miles with a clean and clear title and Carfax report. Excellent example of this year and model. It is in great shape for a 26 year old car. Please contact me with any questions prior to bidding. Serious bidders only please!

DETAILS

  • ENGINE

2.8 liter V6 engine runs very well. Starts right up and runs great and holds a steady idle. I have driven this Fiero up to 80MPH on the freeway and drives very smoothly on the road. Clean coolant and all fluids are up to level. I would not hesitate to drive this car long distances.

  • TRANSMISSION

5 speed manual transmission, no grinding or slipping. It shifts very well with no issues. The clutch feels good and grabs very well.

  • INTERIOR

Gray cloth interior with dash in great shape with no cracks. Passenger cloth seat in good shape, but drivers seat has some wear and tears in it. (see photos below). Headliner in good shape and not sagging down. Center console and glovebox in great shape.

  • PAINT AND BODY

Body is in good shape. The Fiero has been repainted some time ago before I acquired it. It looks like someone at one point removed the outer body panels and had them repainted what looks like a Corvette yellow. It is starting to show wear and tear on the paint with chips and clear coat peeling in some areas. (see photos below). I got the car without the rear GT spoiler. It has the holes for it already. I just got a factory GT spoiler for it and I will include it with the car. It is currently white and it will have to be painted.

  • WHEELS AND TIRES

Tires are 205/55/16 in size. About 40% tread left in front and about only 10% left in rear. Enkei wheels still in great silver color.

  • ELECTRICAL AND ACCESSORIES

All gauges and odometer are working correctly. Power mirrors work. Factory cassette player turns on, but no sound. It has removable manual sunroof. Power windows work, but move slowly. Headlights work, but the passenger side has to be turned 2 times manually then comes up normally. A/C blows nice and cold.

  • EXHAUST

Original factory exhaust system that is in great shape. No rust or leaks.

  • SUSPENSION AND BRAKES

Brakes are 75% upfront and 60% in rear with good rotors all around. Suspension is tight and rides great. No weird noises from suspension. Solid feel. Drives smoothly on roads and has a comfortable ride. I did notice many upgraded urethane bushings through out and a bigger front sway bar with urethane bushings also.

It has a clean title with a clean Carfax. California registration expires October 10, 2014. California registration fee is approximately $100. Out of state buyers fees do not apply. Please bid with intent to buy. Being sold auction style with No Reserve! Highest bidder wins this beauty! No buy now price. If winning bidder is from California it will come with a smog certificate!!

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
