1971 Pontiac Catalina - An oldie AND a goodie!

A great car - if you bid and win - please follow through on your committment!

Three owner car from the Inland Northwest. First owner was a Dr. in Spokane that had it from 1971 to ~1974. Second owner had it from ~1974 until this past summer (2012).  Then I bought as a BARN FIND for my son.  Plans have changed and now some other 70's car lover can get this GREAT car!

Here's what I know about it - from the second owner:

The car was driven as a daily driver until retirement. At just before retirement - the previous owner went fully through the car - overhauled the engine, installed a heavy duty transmission, new front and rear end, and put rear air shocks and a class III trailer hitch on the back for his planned post retirement trips. The owner only put an additional 3k miles on the car and then suffered an injury the prevented him from driving.  The car went into a barn and was a BARN FIND when I found it. The car is in excellent condition with no rust and clean shiny chrome, also redone by the second owner.  We invested money into a brand new headliner professionally installed.  The car can be driven anywhere and is in excellent condition.   All the extra parts shown in the pictures will come with this car, along with the car cover and a spare car cover.  The Pontiac emblem on the nose is one of the parts I have that is not currently on the car.

Known issues at time of posting:  The hood and the truck lid will need to be re-painted (clear coat is coming off).   The gas gauge doesn't currently work.  Missing rear passenger door trim but have the piece that can be put on.   Radio doesn't work.

Bid away - somebody is going to get a great old car!!!!!

Any questions - please call 509-990-1565

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
