Up for auction is a 1970 Pontiac Catalina 6 passenger wagon. I bought this vehicle from the original owner about 8 months ago. This vehicle has been garaged kept its entire life. Vehicle has a few small spots of rust as shown in the pics. Vehicle starts and drives as it should. All lights and options work on the car. Body and frame are solid. You will not find a cleaner factory wagon. I have replaced all ignition wires, plugs, cap, rotor and points. Vehicle has a brand new interstate battery with 6 year warranty. Vehicles voltage regulator is new as well. Oil change just performed. Rear diff serviced. New tires recently. A/C system just updated with a classic auto air kit. The only factory a/c part is the evaporator. Also installed is a new master cylinder. Factory 2 barrel carb also just rebuilt. Some spots on body have been painted with touch up paint by previous owner to stop rusting. Rear window is power and works both with the switch and the key in the door. There is an add on cruise control that works as well. Interior is very clean and the 1970's factory mats are still in the car. There is one small rip in the headliner as seen in pic. The previous owner put orange shag carpet down in back which i left. Like I said this is a very solid driver. Included in sale will be the factory service manual, original bill of sale from 1970, and the original title. Clean and clear indiana title that shows actual miles also included.Vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end auction early. Any questions feel free to call (317) 431-4266

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
