1959 Pontiac, Catalina Vista Top. The Vista model is a no post hardtop with a "wrap around" rear window for an unobstructed 360 degree view from any seating position. The car has all the original running gear with only 80000 original miles on the clock. It is equipped with the Pontiac 389 C. I. engine coupled to the legendary "Jetaway" transmission. Also has factory power steering for ease in parking. It is very quick off the line due to the low ratio starting low gear. The car has all the pep and power you could want. It operates very well at modern freeway speeds and simply "erases" hills. The car is "show ready" and you could drive it anywhere you like. No power brakes but manual brakes work very well. No AC.
This car is a very fun show car and always garners plenty of attention at shows. It has won many awards. The main body paint color is a special color which was created by Pittsburg Paint Company and now has a Pittsburg number. I have a small quantity of the paint in a can for touch up if needed. The color is a shade of pink with a hint of blue blended in which shows very strikengly in bright light or in low light. The top is white.
The interior is painted to match the outside. The upholstery is mainly a denim fapric which incoperates a " 50's Rock N Roll" theme in the design and is an exclusive one time pattern. Accents are in white vinyl which is a thick high quality material. The overall theme is accented with poodle dog images here and there inside and also on the fender skirts outside. We always called it the "Poodle Car" and usually display it with a collection of stuffed poodles. These will go to the new owner if wanted. The many trophies will also go with the car if wanted.
. It stays stored inside a locked secure garage when not in use.
Now for the few defects: (1). The heater core has begun to leak a little, so I bypassed the coolant supply to the heater so there is no heat in the car for now. I have a used good heater core which will go to the new owner. It takes about 3 or 4 hours to replace and is not a difficult job on this car. (2). The windshield has a small amount of white "clouding" in the corners which does not interfere with the view out the front. The side glass has some small heat bubbles at the edges. (3) The front windshield rubber seal has hardened over time and leaks a little from the top in a hard rain. (4) There is a small dent in the rear bumper (left side--see the pictures), but is barely noticable. (5) There are a very few paint defects, but the car is very presentable just as is. Not perfect, but not far off either.
. Please do me the courtesy of not bidding if you do not have the means to complete the deal. I require a deposit of $500.00 into my Paypal account within 24 hours of auction close. No exceptions and the deposit is NOT refundable under any condition. The balance is due in 5 days. The balance must be in the form of cash or bank wire transfer if you want to use Paypal then add $3.00 per $100.00 Dollars that paypal will charge me. I can be reached by phone my # is 503-589-0763 I am on Pacific standard time.

Porsche still deciding on one or two new 911 plug-in hybrids
Tue, May 29 2018Back in March, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told Autocar that the coming Porsche 911 plug-in hybrid "will be the most powerful 911 we've ever had." That quote portended a 992-series 911 with 700 horsepower or more. A new report in Auto Express, however, suggests Porsche is having energetic debates about just what the 911's hybrid strategy will be, and that the only agreed-upon plug-in hybrid 911 so far is a milder version to sit in the middle of the range. Putting all our rumors in a row, in January, Automobile reported on an electrically-assisted 911 with 485 hp and 561 pound-feet of torque. The new AE piece effectively endorses that, saying the mid-range hybrid would follow the program established by the all-wheel drive Cayenne e-Hybrid that produces a combined 455 hp and 516 lb-ft. The 911 would naturally use a flat-six instead of the Cayenne's 3.0-liter V6, and the sports car would be tuned for better sound response and sharper reflexes. AE says fuel economy for this hybrid should be at least 80 eMPG, with emissions of less than 80 grams per kilometer. The current base Carrera is currently rated at a maximum 38.2 mpg in the UK, with minimum emissions of 169 g/km. The hybrid, fitted with a double-clutch gearbox and Porsche's mechanical all-wheel-drive system, could run from a stop to 62 miles per hour in less than four seconds, making it more efficient than a base Carrera and much faster than a Carrera 4S. AE says there remains only "the potential for Porsche to add a second, more powerful hybrid 911," and says its sources claim that's what's "causing the most consternation behind closed doors." This one would be the twin-turbocharged, 700-hp beastie that, as a series production car, would have a hard time not usurping the 540-hp Turbo, 580-hp Turbo S, and 607-hp Turbo S Exclusive. True, the hybrid would be handicapped with a 550-pound battery pack, but the instant acceleration and handling benefits of electric AWD — with no connection between the axles — could provide the final edge over the other three. As such, it makes sense that there'd be a whole lot of debate about a flagship 911 hybrid. On the other hand, such a monster seems like an eventuality in view of Porsche's electrified aspirations, the lessons gained from the 918 Hybrid and the 919 Hybrid Le Mans racer, and the fact that CEO Blume has already spoken. The Stuttgart carmaker expects a sales mix of 25 percent electric, 25 percent hybrid, and 50 percent conventional powertrains by 2025.
Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
Sun, Nov 28 2021John DeLorean began his career working on Packard's Ultramatic Twin transmission, but he made his greatest mark on the automotive industry during his 1956-1969 tenure at GM's Pontiac Division. There, he helped develop the first production car engine with a quiet timing belt instead of a noisy chain, among other engineering feats, but his real fame came from the development of two money-printing models based more on marketing than machinery: the GTO and the Grand Prix. While the GTO gets all the attention now, the Grand Prix set the standard for the big-selling personal luxury coupes that sold like mad for decades to come. Today's Junkyard Gem is an example of the most powerful Grand Prix available at the turn of the century, found in a Denver-area self-service yard during the summer. The Grand Prix got front-wheel-drive for 1988 and a sedan version for 1990, but then something very beneficial happened in the 1997 model year: supercharging! Various flavors of the venerable 3.8-liter Buick V6 engine (itself based on the early-1960s Buick 215 V8 and thus cousin to the Rover V8) received Eaton blowers, starting in the 1992 model year. The Grand Prix didn't get its introduction to forced induction until the 1997 model year, but it kept the boosted option until the final Grand Prix rolled off the line in 2008 (the final Pontiac followed within a couple of years). This one made 240 horsepower, making it King of Grand Prix engines until the 2005 model year (when the GXP and its 303-horse V8 engine showed up). The very last year for a Grand Prix with a manual transmission was 1993 (there had been a three-pedal Grand Prix drought from 1973 through 1988, just to put things in perspective), so this car has the mandatory four-speed automatic. The Grand Prix lived on GM's W platform for its last two decades, making it sibling to the Impala, Regal, and Intrigue in 2001. Until the 2004 model year, every W-Body Grand Prix was built at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City (no, the other Kansas City). Production of the final generation of Grand Prix took place in Ontario. It seems fitting that this car's final pre-crusher parking spot would be between two other GM products of the same era: a Monte Carlo and a Vibe. GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
