up for sale is a 1966 pontiac bonneville sport coupe. i don`t know a whole lot about it i`m afraid. it has been sitting for two years and it used to run GREAT and sounded awesome, very powerful sounding. when my hubby just tried the engine it wouldn`t start, it just coughed and bucked if you know what i mean (i`m not a very technical girl, LOL) and he said the gas smells really bad. my hubby said that it needs to have the gas tank and so on flushed out and fresh gas put in, new spark plugs and so on. heres some very technical stuff he said i had to mention. the engine is a YF code which is 325 horse power according to what he found online. everything under the hood is original apart from an EDELBROCK manifold with a HOLLEY carburetor and HEADERS whatever they are!? and it has ELECTRONIC IGNITION. the car it has power steering. it used to have factory installed a/c but the compressor? is missing now and it has power brakes. apparently the bucket seats are very rare. we think the mileage of 97,000 miles is original but do not know for certain and have no way of telling. the floors are rusted in a few spots but they are still mostly very solid, the passenger front is the worst and will need to be fixed pretty soon. and there is rust in the trunk floor that was fixed years ago. there are some areas in the lower parts of the car that have been fixed years ago as well, my hubby said the rear window aperture will need some repair pretty much right away in his opinion, check out the pictures. there is a correct 66 steering wheel and column with the car to replace the wood steering wheel, which i think is kinda cool and racy looking. the ignition keys are long gone and the switch is out of the dash. my hubby said he had to 'hotwire it' which sounds very criminal to me, LOL. i have a clear title in hand but the car is LOCATED in GREENVILLE SOUTH CAROLINA at our other house. my ebay is address is listed as virginia and i can`t seem to change it, why is that mr ebay??? the car is going to need some work to be drivable on the highway again but it looks great and is worth putting a little time and effort into. they just don`t make cars this cool anymore!. the front bumper is bad and will need to be replaced. none of the power windows want to work, just some sort of buzzy noise when you press some of the buttons. the tires are cracking on the sides. all the carpets are out so a buyer can see all the floor pans, the carpets were no count anyway. we can take any pictures of any part of the car you like, just ask. we encourage buyers to come and check this car out in person, just call to make an appointment. we will help you to ship this car anywhere it needs to go and have already sent old cars to sweden, england and australia. to sum this one up its a very cool looking car but its still a project that you could get running and restore as you go so to speak. you will NOT be driving this car home, it will need to be trailered or whatever. my dad had LOTS of old cars mainly from the 1930`s and 40`s but he had many others of different years, he really loved old cars. right now we are clearing everything out but please remember we are NOT experts on this stuff so please ask questions before you buy and we will do our best to answer, if you need more pictures just ask. we have lots of other old car items listed right now for cadillac, lincoln, packard et cetera and will be listing more cars soon so please check our other old car auctions out. shipping overseas is no problem but please email for a shipping quote. if you want to phone you can call my hubby on 864 616 6860 up until 10 o`clock at night eastern time. PAYMENT IN FULL IN 7 DAYS. full payment by bank wire transfer or cash in person at pick up. buyer is responsible for shipping but we MAY be able to help with delivery, please ask. thanks, beverly. |

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
Junkyard Gem: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible
Sun, Jan 8 2023GM's Pontiac Division sold its first convertibles during the 1927 model year (just a year after the division's creation), then proceeded to offer memorable drop-tops for most of the following 83 years. The best-selling convertible to bear Pontiac badges during our current century was the retractable-hardtop-equipped G6, available from the G6's introduction in 2006 through the second-to-last model year of 2009 (the Sunfire convertible was available just through 2000, while the Firebird convertible vanished with the demise of the slow-selling Firebird itself after 2002). Here's one of those G6 GT convertibles, found in a Denver-region boneyard after a crash ended its driving career. Mashed right front, popped airbags. This sort of damage might have been worth repairing in 2009, but not today. The 2007 G6 was available as a coupe, sedan, or convertible. All the convertibles had the GT trim level and the 3.5-liter V6 and its 224 horsepower. The MSRP on this car was $28,750 (about $42,325 in 2022 dollars), making it the most expensive G6. The power hardtop roof folded up into the trunk, leaving 1.8 cubic feet of trunk storage space with the top down. This Karmann-designed roof system made the interior much quieter than that of a traditional soft-top convertible. All G6s were built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, where Chevy Bolts are born today. The G6 was built through the 2010 model year, making it one of the very last Pontiac models (the Vibe also made it to 2010, though it was really a Toyota Matrix). In hindsight, 2007 turned out to be an ominous year for GM.Â
World's only 1964 Pontiac XP-833 Banshee coupe for sale by Kia dealer
Mon, Apr 20 2020It seems like there has been a spate of especially odd car sales in the first part of this especially odd year, from the numerous barn finds and homebrew specials to the time capsule cars — like the BMW wrapped in a protective bubble for 23 years. Napoli Kia in Milford, Connecticut, brings us another, via Motor1. Len Napoli is the dealership principal and die-hard Pontiac maven; his father opened Napoli Pontiac in 1958, and Len held onto the franchise until the early 2000s, just before GM shuttered the brand that built excitement. Napoli got hold of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee XP-833 coupe concept, and put the car up for sale through his Kia dealership for $750,000. The exceptional price comes from the fact that Pontiac built two Banshee concepts in 1964, one this silver coupe with a red interior, the other a white roadster, making each concept a one-of-one collector car.   Motor Trend wrote a detailed piece on this one in 2013, the editorial tour hosted by Bill Collins, the Banshee's lead engineer. The short story is that GM exec John Z. DeLorean — yes, him — gave approval to a small crew at Pontiac to create a two-seater sports car to compete with the Mustang, because GM had nothing to fend off the four-seat coupe that would sell one million units in just 18 months on the market. Collins and his team took inspiration from the 1963 Corvair Monza GT concept, working up a fiberglass body over a steel frame, with a 230-cubic-inch overhead-cam straight-six producing 165 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque, a four-speed manual transmission, and 9.5-inch drum brakes at all corners. The idea was that the XP-833 would be "an affordable and fun two-seat sports car," the concept demonstrating the base-model price leader offering a lengthy list of options for those who wanted more. The white roadster, in fact, fitted a 326 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. Rumor says that Chevrolet execs didn't like having another two-seater sports car in the GM fold, especially one with a fiberglass body that held weight down to 2,200 pounds. GM execs took one look at the two concepts in 1965 and shut the project down. The two XP-833s lived in a garage for years, Collins and his colleague Bill Killen getting permission to buy the cars from GM in 1973 before Collins left to help engineer the DeLorean DMC-12. It wasn't until just before Collins departed that the XP-333 got the name Banshee.
