1970 Plymouth Road Runner 440 6 Pack. This is an original V code 440 6 Pack car. The car has the correct 440 6 pack in it but Im not sure how to tell if it is the original block or not so please assume it is a replacement block because after looking at a lot of these for sale it looks like most of them are replacement blocks. The car has an older restoration on it and it looks to be in excellent condition I would call it a #2 quality car. The paint is in excellent condition it is shiny and smooth and the only marking I saw was one small chip on the drivers rocker below the door. This has the original color it came from the factory with and that is yellow with a black vinyl top and the vinyl top is in excellent condition with no damage and it looks like it is newer.

I took the car out for a drive and it runs and goes down the road very nicely. It looks like the tires are fairly new Goodyear polyglas tires and the spare tire has never been used and it matches the other four. The previous owner put on some extra cooling fans behind the radiator because he lived in Texas and it gets really hot in the summer and he wanted extra cooling and they can be removed if you like to make it back to concours correct.

The interior of the car looks to be all original. The front seats are in excellent condition and the dash has no cracks and is in excellent condition. The original steering wheel has a crack in it and so does the road runner emblem in the center of the steering wheel. The back seat has a few spots where the threads have come apart. The carpet is in excellent condition and it has new matching floor mats which look very nice. The door panels are very nice but they could use new interior door handles or the original ones rechromed because they have minor pitting in them. For an original interior the car looks extremely nice.

The trunk is in excellent condition with a new Goodyear polyglas tire in the trunk with no signs of any issues in the trunk area it is clean and looks to be in excellent condition. The underside of the car looks to have the original undercoating on it. It has new exhaust, gas tank and the rear axel looks like it was also reconditioned when it was restored and it has markings on it and an axel tag.

The engine compartment is in excellent condition. It has the correct air cleaner and most of the concours correct original 440 6 pack parts under the hood. If there are any items you would like for me to look at under the hood please let me know I am happy to look at them for you. The mileage I would say is not correct and I have no way to verify it one way or another. There is a trim tag that was in the glove box that says special handling car and I don't know what that means but I took a picture of it.

So to sum everything up this is an older restoration that is in excellent #2 quality of an original 440 6 pack car that comes in its original yellow exterior with a black vinyl top. The interior is a very nice original interior. I don't have a lift but I am happy to take pictures of anything you like or look the car over and give you any numbers that I can find.

I will be a the Barrett-Jackson car auction most of this coming week and if you are going to be over there I can drive the car over to show it to you. Or I live about a 1/2 hour away and I can bring you over to look at the car at my house. I would consider a partial trade on the car but you would have to pay to have your trade in sent to Phoenix and also pay to have this car brought over to you. I can be reached on my cell phone at 612-275-8722. Thanks Kevin Manley.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
