Up for auction is a 1971 Plymouth Road Runner, that was originally a 383, with a 4 Speed Transmission. The car had a lot of nice options, like the vinyl stripes on the roof, the rear spoiler, and she was originally a Gold Metallic. This was 1 of about 3700 cars that were built with a 383/ 4 speed combination in 1971. The car is a rolling shell as she sits right now. The engine and trans are gone, but she is pretty complete after that. The car is a PROJECT but, these cars are pretty hard to find and getting one with the 4 speed, and the original fender tag is pretty hard to find. The bottom of the car looks pretty good overall, the frame rails are straight and no rust issues with them. The trunk has some holes in it, basically in the middle portion of the trunk, it could be patched up, but I would suggest a middle trunk pan. The glass is all pretty good overall, and the windshield is new. The windows roll up and down correctly, and the doors open and close ok. The body has some rust in the lower quarters, and the rear wheel lips. It's not horrible but, you can see it in the pictures. The drivers floor had a small patch put in, but the rear pans and the passenger side pans look good! In the past, someone removed the 4 speed and put in a automatic trans. They took out the 4 speed floor hump, and put in a piece of aluminum for the automatic shifter. So, if you want to put the 4 speed back in the car you will need the shifter hump, which they sell on Ebay. The bottom of the doors look great, and the rockers look great too, and overall it's pretty nice project.

I have a clean title in hand for the car!

The Fender Tag info: N41- Dual Exhaust, R11- AM Radio, E65- 383 4-Barrel Engine, D21- 4 Speed, GY8- Gold Metallic, V8X- Roof Vinyl (White), 22- 22" Radiator, and few others.

The car is a nice project type car! The winning bidder is required to pay a $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of winning the car! The car is being sold " As Is" due to it's age. The deposit must be paid through Paypal. The remaining balance is due within 3 days of the auction closing, and the final payment may be made with a Cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing, and my zip code is 89131 for shipping purposes. Please email me with any questions, and good luck!! choice!!

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
