For sale on ebay is my 1970 Plymouth GTX.  It has recently been completely gone through and is back on the road after over 25 years off the road.  It has 97k miles on the car currently.  I will go through everything that has been done to the car below.  This is the best and most sought after year GTX that was made.  The engine and transmission match the VIN and body numbers.  Car has original fender tag still attached.  This ad is going to be very lengthy so please read  through everything.  Rare opportunity to own a numbers match GTX as they don't pop up for sale very often.  Here is what has been done.

Body/Paint- Car recently was completely stripped to a shell only leaving the dash in.  All glass, suspension and rear end were removed from the car and was the car was completely painted.  The paint is now 3 months old and has been garaged kept and put on a lift to assemble the car back.  Paint looks fantastic (see pics below).  The body is very straight and the car has no rust.  The center trunk was replaced which is typical of these cars.  The underside is a factory undercoat car and is extremely clean.  I will provide some underside pics as well to show how clean everything is.  The car was built with reliability in mind and tons of new parts were put on.

Exterior- The exterior has new rechromed front and rear bumpers, wheel lip mouldings, front marker lights, black reflective side stripes, go wing spoiler with correct under decklid brackets, windshield, front rubber bumper guards, rear back up lights/lenses, black hood stripe, driver side mirror, all GTX emblems around the car, along with the front grille being replaced with a beautiful original one.

Under the Hood- The car has its original low mileage 440 HP engine.  The motor was broke down and all gaskets including head gaskets were replaced.  Motor was freshened up and all new engine accessories were replaced.  Has new high volume oil pump that puts out 65-70lbs of oil pressure.  New waterpump, starter, belts, hoses, carburetor, distributor, plugs, wires, waterpump, all sending units along with everything on the firewall.  New washer bottle, pump and squirters.  They work great.  New battery tray with hold down.  New 3 core radiator.  Motor has factory HP manifolds and 4bbl intake.   Motor is completely stock and does not have any aftermarket mods.  Motor runs great and is very smooth.

Transmission- Original numbers match 727.  Low miles on rebuild and shifts as it should with correct kickdown linkage.

Driveshaft- Speed balanced with new u joints on both ends.

Rear end- New fluid in the stock 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23 gears.  New leaf spring u bolts.  Rear leafs are the stock heavy duty superstock leaf springs.  They are original to the car.

Interior- All new seat covers, carpet, headliner, dash cap, package tray, dome light lens and trunk mat.  The dash, console, and upper doors all have new woodgrain installed.  Dash looks great.  The dash gauges have been refaced and has a tic toc tach dash.  Has a tuff wheel installed.  Door panels are in very nice shape.  Radio is in excellent condition and does work.  Needs speakers hooked up.  All interior trim is in nice shape. New sill plates holding the carpet down.

Wheels/Tires- Stock 15x7  steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps on Goodyear white letter tires.

Suspension-  All new front suspension that has been bead blasted and painted.  All new ball joints, upper and lower bushings, sway bar bushings and links along with new front and rear shocks.  Inner and outer tie rods along with the adjusting sleeves and the idler arm have also been replaced.  Car will need aligned as I haven't done that yet and the ride height needs raised a little.  Its low in the front as I was just going to let the alignment guy adjust everything at the shop.  If its a big deal I can try to get done but my time is limited right now.  Being so low in the front puts pressure on the suspension and steering.

Brakes- All new brakes.  This includes, new shoes all the way around, new wheel cylinders, hardware, master cylinder, master cylinder lines, front to rear brake line, new rubber hoses in front and rear and park brake adjusted correctly.

Electrical- New rear tail lamp harness and engine harness.  Stock dash wiring. Has lots of new electrical components, including starter relay, headlight dimmer, light bulbs throughout, headlights, new wiper motor installed as well. Lights, turn signals, stop lights all work.

Fuel system- Gas tank is like new, has new sending unit, ground strap, fuel filler, fuel filler grommet, fuel line from gas tank to fuel pump, new fuel pump, new hose and filter along with a new carburetor.

As you can see a lot has been done to the car.  The car runs/drives good and everything has about 20 miles on it as of now.  Needs someone to drive the car and put some miles on the car.  The car sat since 1987 and so its been a long time since the car has been driven any significant miles.  The car looks amazing and turns heads.  I've always wanted a 1970 GTX but life changes has got me out of the hobby.  Ive owned the car since about 2002.  All the work has been done to the car in the past 6 months so everything is fresh.  Look around and try to find another with this much done to it, that is also obtainable to purchase.  NADA guides list this car at 40k+ in average retail condition.  The car will sell for much less than that and is much better than "average".  Most of the GTX's Ive followed are either non numbers cars or incomplete or have had a lot of mods done to the drivetrain.  This is a mostly stock , original type car.  Thanks for reading through everything.  Now for Terms of the auction:

Overseas bidders are welcome to bid on the car.

Buyer to pay $500 deposit within 48 hours of auctions end.  No exceptions.  Buyer to pay balance within 5 business days of end of auction unless otherwise agreed PRIOR to auctions end.  5 days is ample time even for overseas buyers where it can take up to 3 days for a transfer to complete. Balance to be paid with bank wire transfer , bank cashiers check, or cash in person.  Keep in mind, my bank will HOLD any check, so I will not release car until check is cleared.  Prefer bank wire transfer as it is quickest/safest for both of us.  Buyer to pay for all shipping and transport costs involved.  I will help obtain quotes if you need it or you can check for yourself.  My zip is 95829.   Car comes with a clear California title, in my name and in my possession ready for transfer.  Car is sold as is, where is, no exceptions.  There are no warranties expressed or written for this car.  No money will be set aside should any problems arise.  This is a private party sell.  Please make sure this is the car you want prior to bidding on my car.  This is a real auction, which means the car will sell.  Please make sure you have all approvals and inspections done PRIOR to bidding on my car.  Inspections by 3rd parties are also ok.  They must be done PRIOR to auctions end, no exceptions.  I want an easy transaction for both of us, so please make sure you ask lots of questions.  I will answer all questions promptly and as accurately as I know.  I was a hobbyist and by no means an expert or professional.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason.  The car could sell at any time.  Many times in the past I have sold things before the auction has ended.  Ive sold a few cars on ebay and as you will see in my feedback the people have really liked the cars. Thanks for viewing my car and happy new year!!

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
