Up for auction with NO RESERVE is my 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme. The car spent it's entire life with one family in Tombstone , AZ before coming to Mass about 5 yrs ago. The car was manufactured in Fremont,CA.

Extremely solid body. Original panels all line up nicely. Doors/hood/trunk lid close smoothly. The car maintains 85% of it's original paint. (Sunfire Yellow). I ran a magnet over the car before I bought it and found that there was an extremely minimal amount of bondo used on a repair of the driver's side quarter just behind the door. The door and quarter were repainted of course and this is the only area with evidence of past repair. Black vinyl stripes were added many years ago and are in rough shape but still add to the survivor aspect of the car. Black vinyl top is very good overall with minor imperfections. White interior with black rug and dash. One of the rear windows needs work in order to roll up and down properly. It opens and closes but you need to use 2 hands, one to crank and one to pull the window along. I believe it just needs a new guide roller. There is some water getting into the trunk by way of the lower left corner of the back window which would need to be addressed. I do not drive it in the rain but I would still be getting it fixed if I were keeping the car. Bumpers are original with nice chrome but are not perfectly straight. Back is almost perfectly straight and front shows area where attempt to straighten was made. Original lenses etc.. All trim is present and in very good shape. Olds Super Stock rims are nice and tires are good. I've had the car garaged since I've owned it and I believe it was garaged most of it's life in Arizona as well.

The frame is perfect as well as all floor boards , trunk floor etc.. You get the idea.

The car has the original matching # 350 motor with a 4 barrel carb and a replacement 350 turbo auto transmission. It has bucket seats with original floor shift. The A/C unit is still in place but is not working. It will need the compressor replaced. The car has factory power disc brakes up front and power steering as well.

I have a binder that I started when I purchased the vehicle that is complete with receipts for the work that I did or had done and will be include in the sale.

Some of the work that I did includes replacing all coil springs. New KYB shocks. New upper control arm bushings. New ball joints. New stabilizer links. Added anti-sway bar in rear. New trailing arm bushings. New windshield washer pump. New washer bottle. New power steering pump. New power steering return hose. New radiator hoses. New belts. Had carb (4 barrel Rochester) professionally rebuilt.

Car needs interior work. Someone recovered the bucket seats in leather but did not re-foam them. Original interior is vinyl. The rear seat needs recovering. The headliner is shot. The rug should be replaced. I just changed the lower carpet on the door panels over the winter and they turned out nice. It was faded and had speaker holes in them. I installed speaker kick panels but haven't purchased speakers for them yet. There is an Alpine am/fm CD stereo that is installed below the original radio. It was working when I got the car. Just add new speakers and you should be good. 6 1/2 inch speakers are what the panels are designed to accommodate.   The dash is excellent. No cracks. It has a dash mat on it for additional protection. The cluster panel and center console look great. I replaced the trunk cylinder and both door cylinders recently and had them keyed alike to match the center console compartment and the glove box lock so one key works everything as it should. The ignition key is it's own key.

The transmission shifts smoothly but there is a small leak coming from the front seal. The power steering works well but there is a leak coming from the front of the steering box. Both repairable of course and that was going to be my next step if I were to keep the car. I purchased new motor mounts and the transmission mount and will include in the purchase along with a brand new electronic ignition distributor to be installed. One of the original motor mounts is worn so you will want to replace sooner than later. I replaced the rear pinion seal but it is still leaking a small amount. The yoke assembly may need replacing but is an inexpensive fix.

The motor runs well. No problems there and original to the car. I run 92 octane in it.

Because of all the suspension repairs that I've done the car really drives down the road nicely and the anti-sway bar in the rear makes a big difference. The brakes work perfectly as well.

In summary this is a solid driver quality car with the original matching motor. It still has needs like any other partially unrestored 42 yr old vehicle does but it is a true survivor car. Drive now and continue to restore as you see fit.

The odometer reads 64,675 but I can not confirm if this is true actual mileage or 164,675. Some indicators lean towards original yet others indicate that it may be the higher mileage.

NO RESERVE and a fair starting point so the highest bidder or the only bidder will end up owning this classic Cutlass Supreme.

I have described the car to the best of my ability to disclose the good and the bad.

I reserve the right to end this auction early if no bid has been made.

The buyer pays for shipping but I will work with you or your shipper to expedite shipping.

This classic car is being sold as is where is and without warranty.

Thanks for looking.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
