Started life as a rust free 70,000 mile 6 cylinder T-Top diesel. non-landau top car, manual windows and locks, no cruise control but has A/C. Air will need a recharge, had all new o-rings installed but  the flex line is leaking. No time to keep going on the car, it is 90% done. All parts on the car are either new or rebuilt. I was building this car for Auto-cross events but haven't been able to enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. Now that I have children it's getting harder to devote time to finalizing it. It is quick, fun and handles and stops unbelievably well. Tons of time and money spent on it. You can't duplicate it for what I'm asking and it isn't a Monte Carlo. The car only has maybe 500 miles on it since the tear down. The car looks and functions great but it is 30 years old, if you're looking for perfection keep looking.

Specs are below.

 Drivetrain

- 1991 L98 Corvette 350 TPI engine, less than 30,000 mi on rebuild. Bored .40 over, Ramjet350 cam, aluminum heads, Custom EFI harness with heated O2 and custom computer tune with no emissions (Not a problem in PA since it is Classic tagged but also because diesel vin cars are exempt).  Uses Grand National upgraded Bosch fuel pump and reproduction GN EFI tank.

- 91 F-body serpentine system

- Lokar cables, new 91 F-body aluminum radiator with dual electric fans.

- Longtube headers with 2 1/2" mandrel bent true dual exhaust and G-Force crossmember

- Freshly rebuilt TH350 trans built by Wayne Myers Transmissions in Dover, has shift kit(not too hard) and 2400 stall converter.

- Rebuilt Auburn posi rear with 3:42 gears in stock 7.5 rear. New universal joints on driveshaft.

 Suspension and Brakes

- All new hardened suspension bushings and ball joints. All new steering parts and fast ratio Iroc Z steering box. 36mm front swaybar and 1" UMI rear swaybar with boxed lower control arms. New KYB shocks and 1.5" lowering springs.

- Front spindles swapped with 2002 S-Blazer unitized wheel bearing units with 11" drilled/slotted front rotors, twin piston calipers and braided hoses.

- Upgraded new Caprice 1" bore master cylinder.

- 18x8 Boss wheels, with new front and 1/2 tread rear tires.

 Body and Interior

- Fairly fresh repaint in dark grey metallic single stage. Average repaint looks very good but needs the front bumper cover and trunk wet sanded and buffed to be very nice. No rust ever but does have a few minor dings in the doors and a small dent in the hood, barely noticeable but it's there.

- New weatherstrips, carpet, visors and headliner.

- Has original AM/FM cassette plus numerous spare 86 dash parts to convert to a modern radio. Converted to 442 rally gauge cluster w/tach. Has original burgundy bench seat interior, seats are nice but have minor sun fading. I will include a nice set of 442 bucket seats(front and  rear) with power driver’s seat that should be reupholstered. I would rate the interior an 8/10. The dash is uncracked but should be pulled and dyed to match the interior(it is black and should be Burgundy- 2 cans of SEM spray dye included).

As long as it's paid for I can keep stored in my garage for 30 days. I will help work with a shipper if need be, but I would prefer the new owner see it in person. Car won't leave until funds have cleared. Clear title in hand, current pa inspection and PA Classic tag.

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
