THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING.

This is my 1972 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Tribute.  I bought this car from my friend Ted Vernon of the TV show "South Beach Classics" in Miami, FL.

This is a clean, straight, reliable, great-driving car in excellent condition.  I'd trust this car to drive anywhere.

This has been a Southern car since it was new.  This car has never been exposed to salt or snow since it was made.

This car came from the huge collection of the specialty car guy in Miami, FL, my friend Ted Vernon of South Beach Classics. I've included a photo of Ted with the car in this listing.  I purchased this car there and drove it around everywhere during my vacation.  I got more attention on Ocean Drive in this 442 than the $200,000 Ferraris and Lamborghinis.  Everyone loved this car, and they gathered around it whenever I stopped!

I have brought this car up to OH, and put some finishing touches on it.  This is a really fun, great-driving, eye-catching classic American muscle car.

This car started life as a Cutlass.  It was built in Fremont, CA and has always been in warm climates.  The car was built with a 350 V8, factory A/C and automatic transmission and it was recently done as a 442 W-30 clone.  This car has the correct W-25 style fiberglass ram-air hood, the correct striping, the 455 big-block engine, bucket seats, color-matched 14" Rallye wheels with raised white letters, etc.  To most anyone who doesn't read and decode the serial number, this is a 442 W-30.

The W-30 was a potent performance machine- and this car is every bit of that.  The 455 V8 has gobs of horsepower and torque and it sounds lean and mean.  It turns heads at stoplights and nobody fails to notice this car.

I have had the car repainted- down both sides of the car and roof, and it looks superb.  This is an all-metal car, not a bondoed-up car. The hood and rear decklid were last painted a few years ago and look plenty presentable- there are some small dust specs, etc in the paint on the hood and decklid- they don't look quite as excellent as the sides and roof but still very nice. This car has clean straight lines and it is a totally solid car from top to bottom with no body rust.

This is not what I'd call a competition concours car, but rather an extremely nice car you can drive and enjoy.  This is far from a 20-foot beater- this is a clean, nice, well-done car that you will be proud to own and drive, just like I have been.

The interior of the car is mostly original- the dash, carpet, and rear seat are original and still in nice condition.  The front bucket seats are newly rebuilt and reupholstered period-correct GM seats that look outstanding.  In addition to the factory gauges there is also a voltmeter, coolant temp gauge, oil pressure gauge and tachometer. The interior shows normal and expected wear and tear for the age- it isn't perfect, but it looks nice for 41 years old.

The engine is a 455 cubic inch big block, casting number 39602F which is correct for 1970-1972 442 applications.  The cylinder heads casting numbers are G A 409100, if I understand correctly, these are correct 1972 "big valve" W-30 heads, which are rare and valuable. The intake manifold is an aluminum Edelbrock Performer 455.  The carburetor is a Rochester Quadrajet 850cfm which has just been rebuilt.

This car has power steering and power brakes, and factory A/C.  The air conditioning is all complete and intact, and although it isn't working currently, I'm quite sure it could be made to work if someone wanted.

The underside of this car is super clean and nice- totally solid and very neat & clean.  Again, this car has never been exposed to road salt or winter weather.

This is a clean, excellent and very collectible classic muscle car.  There's no reason you couldn't buy this car now, enjoy it for a few years, then sell it for more than you paid.  These GM A-body big block cars are getting more and more collectible and valuable.

You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home.  Alternatively and more recommended for long distances, you can have the car shipped.  Please call Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for a shipping quote.

This car is kept in my secure warehouse in Willoughby, OH.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
