Bison in Yellowstone get their 15 minutes of fame in viral video

Fri, Mar 6 2015

Weighing in at anywhere from 700 to 2,000 pounds, American bison are essentially nothing more than fuzzy, horned tanks. You can imagine, then, the damage that one can do when it gets up a head of speed. A couple touring Yellowstone National Park found that out the hard way, when one particularly angry bison took exception to the millions of American motorists that turn untold numbers of his furry friends into road kill each year (we may be guessing at the bison's motives). The couple had stopped to watch Yellowstone's well-known herd when the incident occurred, causing nearly $2,800 in damage to the couple's Nissan Xterra. Check out the video of the actual incident up top, and then scroll down for a second video showing damage to the Xterra. This content is hosted by a third party. Prince Charles tours Nissan Leaf plant in Sunderland, UK

Sat, Jan 24 2015

Environmental sustainability and job training. Those are two of the issues the UK's Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, has long supported. And that's why the king-to-be paid a visit to Nissan's Sunderland plant earlier this week. As shows in a two-minute video from Broadcast Exchange, Prince Charles took a tour of the plant, checking out the production line while conferring with the young (and slightly star-struck) students there who were learning a thing or two about building a car, electric Nissan style. The Sunderland plant is located about 285 miles north of London. The factory runs an apprenticeship program for budding car-builders and employs about 6,700 people. The Nissan Leaf electric vehicles built there are sold in Europe, where Leaf sales jumped 33 percent last year. Opened in 1986, the Sunderland factory broke ground on its battery-production facilities in 2010 and began producing the Leaf in the spring of 2013 after Nissan invested about $635 million upgrading the plant to handle electric-vehicle and lithium-ion battery production. Even before the EV battery production activity the Sunderland plant burnished its green credentials by installing wind turbines to help with the power supply. Prince Charles already has his credentials (sort of), thanks to a biofuel Jaguar and a wine-powered Aston Martin. Check out the video with Prince Charles below. 2014 Rogue kicks off production as 10,000,000th Nissan built in Tennessee

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

News comes across our desks all the time of one manufacturer marking some milestone or another. But Nissan has just announced a double-whammy: Not only has Nissan's assembly plant in Smyrna, TN, just built its ten-millionth vehicle, but that ten-millionth vehicle just so happened to be the first Nissan Rogue to be built in the United States.
The milestone arrives after over three decades of production that has included such nameplates as the Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Leaf, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60, Xterra, Frontier, and now the Rogue. The latter crossover has swelled into Nissan's second best-selling vehicle, with demand growing by nearly 50 percent from 2010 to 2012. Now redesigned for 2014 and built locally, Nissan is evidently banking on demand continuing to rise.
