Pioneer 7" double din touch screen
19"x9.5", 19"x8.5" Ruff Racing wheels
New brake pads
New rotors

The car runs and drives like a champ.  The last recorded RHWP/RWTQ readings from the previous owner were ~ 495/418 on 92 octane pump fuel.

The car does need a bit of TLC. Specifically:

  1. Headlights were incorrectly wired: they only work when set to bright.
  2. Headlights are not properly sealed (typical chinese MFG).
  3. Front bumper was damaged when previous owner attempted to pass over a speedbump. I have a replacement bumper that I will give to the buyer.
  4. Body and interior could use some TLC.  There are a few sunspots (very hard to see, but still present), seats need new leather, a few interior trim pieces are missing, headliner is a little dirty.
  5. Car needs to be re-tuned at buyer's location.  Car currently has a CEL on due to lower octane fuel at my location (91 vs. 92).
  6. Horn does not work.
  7. Oil is leaking from re-routed oil pipes (see pics). The repair is simple. The oil is NOT leaking from any other system
  8. Airbag light is flashing due to car being driven over-limit: system needs to be reset by a Nissan tech.
  9. A/C system is not working: The A/C unit is not on the drive belt system.  I am not sure if the unit is still operable. Assume that it is not.

Given the condition of the interior and the RWHP/RWTQ ratings, this car could easily be converted to a track car. I have a set of cheapo racing seats that I purchased for this vehicle (for just such a purpose) that I will give to the buyer if he/she is interested.

Also, you should take note that this car has straight exhaust pipes, and WILL NOT pass an emissions inspection.

The amount of modifications that this car has undergone is substantial.  KBB for an excellent condition 350z with similar mileage is ~$9k. I have placed the BIN about $2k above that given the value of parts. I am willing to negotiate with any serious buyer.

Note: the vehicle has a lien-holder. The amount remaining on the loan is ~$7,500.  I will work closely with the buyer and the lien-holder (my local credit union) to ensure a smooth transition.

If you have any questions, I am more than happy to answer them. Contact me.

Tesla leads and Infiniti bleeds in Consumer Reports' satisfaction survey

Mon, Feb 8 2021

According to Consumer Reports, Tesla owners are more likely to rave about their vehicles than any other brand. And we're not surprised — Tesla has performed very well in past customer satisfaction surveys, despite the fact that the electric cars themselves tend to have more problems than most other automobiles. Second place went to Lincoln, which interestingly had a higher cumulative score than Tesla in individual category measurements like comfort and storage space. Ram, a truck-only brand, rounded out the top three. The consumer-focused magazine bases its owner satisfaction score on responses to a very simple question: Would you buy this exact car again? The higher percentage of owners who answer "definitely yes" to that question, the higher the satisfaction score. Further breakdowns are scored for other parts of the ownership experience, which is why brands that rank poorly in Consumer Reports' own reliability charts — like Tesla and Lincoln, for example — can still earn top marks for satisfaction. The lowest-ranked brands for satisfaction are Cadillac, Nissan and Infiniti. Interestingly, Cadillac performed better than average in Driving and Comfort and middle-of-the-road in the In-Car Electronics and Cabin Storage, but like most other brands, scored poorly in Value. In fact, only Subaru, Mazda and Volkswagen scored better than average in Value. Nissan and especially Infiniti earned comparatively low marks across the board to go along with the bottom-of-the-barrel satisfaction score. Here's the full list of automakers from Consumer Reports' satisfaction survey, ranked in order from best to worst: Tesla Lincoln Ram Chrysler Subaru Hyundai Porsche Dodge Mazda Toyota Kia Mini BMW Ford Audi Honda Volvo Volkswagen Lexus Jeep GMC Chevrolet Mercedes-Benz Buick Cadillac Nissan Infiniti It's worth diving into the individual category scores in addition to the official finishing order for a full look at the results. For instance, despite the fact that automakers like Lincoln and Ford use similar infotainment systems, their In-Car Electronics scores don't quite match up. Also, some automakers have full lineups with multiple cars, trucks and SUVs while others offer just a couple of nameplates. Head on over to Consumer Reports for all the details. Nissan takes over naming rights for Tennessee Titans stadium [UPDATE]

Thu, Jun 25 2015

UPDATE: Nissan has released a pair of renderings showing how the stadium could look when the transformation is complete. Check them out in the gallery above. Nissan looms large in Nashville. That's where its North American headquarters are based, and just 25 miles down the road in Smyrna is its massive assembly plant. But it's about to become an even bigger part of the Tennessee metropolis as the Japanese automaker has acquired the naming rights to the stadium where the Tennessee Titans play. The deal, confirmed by Nissan in correspondence with Autoblog this morning, will see the sports complex switch names from LP Field (currently named for building materials firm Lousiana-Pacific Corp.) to Nissan Stadium. The arrangement will be valid for the next 20 years. What's more, the deal will be in place in time for Nissan to introduce its new Titan pickup that shares its name with the football team, despite being built in Mississippi. The contract will also see Nissan become the official automotive partner of the Titans. Aside serving as the NFL team's home, the Nashville stadium also plays host to Tennessee State University football, the Music City Bowl, and numerous other events. Country music fans may be more familiar with the CMA Music Festival, held every year at the stadium and nearby Riverside Park, but we're most looking forward to a Rams-Titans showdown to determine who plays the best ball and makes the best truck. Of course, Nissan isn't the only automaker to have its name on a major sports complex in America. In fact Nissan Stadium won't even be the only NFL stadium named after a car company: Mercedes has the naming rights for the Louisiana Superdome that the New Orleans Saints call home, and the Detroit Lions play at Ford Field. (Sorry to break it to you, but Tiger Stadium had nothing more to do with Sunbeams than New York's Polo Grounds did with little Volkswagens or Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field has to do with leasing Town Cars.)

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions

Thu, Aug 27 2015

Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
