2003 Nissan 350Z (Performance Edition) 71,3xx miles Silverstone grey/black cloth
Why does this car have a rebuilt title? This car was in an accident back in January 2007 in which the insurance company totaled out the car. A friend of the person who owned the car bought it from the insurance company, fixed it, had Washington State Patrol inspect it (see photo) and issue the rebuilt title. He then drove it until October of 2008 when I purchased it. I have owned it ever since. The accident was fairly cut and dry, long story short, in the snow/ice the driver was going around clover style freeway on-ramp with the VDC turned off, he gassed it into a slide of which it did a 180 and headed backwards into a chain-link fence. The car went under the chain-link fence and was scratched like a 1000 cat claw marks from the back forward. The damage was all cosmetic (I personally would never have bought the car if the damage had been mechanical in any way). So a door needed to be replaced and the car needed to be repainted. It was repainted the same stock Silverstone grey, the rims were also done at the same time. I have all the pictures to prove the damage was only cosmetic. I wanted them when I bought the car. I would have posted them but Ebay only lets you post 24 pictures. If you are interested in seeing photos of the damage I can forward them to you. Also if you want to have verification of the story above, check the AutoCheck section of this auction and you will see it was in a collision with a fence on January 7th, 2007. Case #2680321 Why am I selling the car? I am selling it because I don't have garage space to keep it anymore and I have too many vehicles. I originally purchased it to drive to Portland and back 2-3 times a month. I did that for a few solid years. I wanted something fun to drive for that commute. So most of the miles I have put on it while I have owned it are freeway miles. This car deserves to be driven and I just don't drive it much anymore. Is there anything wrong with the car? The car drives great, all gauges, lights, electronics, cruise control, etc. work flawlessly. Mechanically its in excellent shape too. I have never had a problem with it. It starts up and goes. There are no dents on the exterior panels and the interior is in excellent shape. The driver seat has some normal wear (see photo), there is a cigarette burn up top in the headliner near the driver window (from a previous owner). Some of the repainting is chipping in smaller and in hidden areas (see photos - there are a few more areas I don't have pictures for but all areas are pretty small), when it chips off it chips down to the same color so its not very noticeable. The repainting is very good overall but on the roof seals and windshield seals there is some slight over-spray on the rubber seals, like 1mm running down them. You can't really see it unless your looking for it, from 1-2 feet back its not noticeable. There are some birdshit stains on the top of the roof area (see photo), those should come out with some rubbing compound. The headlights are a bit hazy from age. The rear hatch needs a new hydraulic, it stays open on flat ground but on an incline it sometimes shuts by itself. The hatch button only works part of the time, however the keyless entry hatch opener button works all the time, I always use that to open the back hatch. This car is 11 years old so its not perfect like it just came off the showroom floor, but its very clean and in great shape. If I had a 5 car garage I would keep it without a doubt. To my knowledge none of the previous owners modded this car, with the low miles there is plenty of life left for someone to drive as a daily driver or modify into what they want to create with it. This car is very dependable and a blast to drive. Hoping it goes to someone that really enjoys it as its been a great car for me. |

Toyota raises Japanese base wages for first time since 2008
Fri, 14 Mar 2014Toyota is on track for record profits, and in return, its Japanese workers are receiving their first increase in base wages since 2008, plus higher pay based on seniority and a larger bonus for 2014. The Japanese automaker predicts the average laborer will net a 2.9 percent income gain.
The average Toyota employee will earn 2,700 yen ($26.28) more each month, a 0.8 percent increase from last year. Workers will also receive about 7,300 yen ($71.09) more monthly based on seniority and promotions. Finally, the company's union pushed through a median bonus of 2.44 million yen ($23,768) for 2014, the highest in 6 years.
The pay boost comes as Toyota forecasts a record 1.9-trillion yen ($18.5 billion) profit for the fiscal year ending on March 31, according to Bloomberg. It has been helped by the Japanese government's efforts to weaken the yen on international markets and expand inflation. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been asking businesses to increase compensation to end years of deflation and offset upcoming higher sales taxes. Honda and Nissan have also raised their wages there in recent months.
Nissan Shows Self-Cleaning Car Coated In Nano Paint
Fri, Apr 25 2014Washing the car is an activity like mowing the lawn that some people love and others find to be an absolute chore. For the latter group, Nissan may have an answer. Nissan is testing a nano-paint coating that could make the car wash a very infrequent place to visit. Shown on a European Note hatchback, the key is a special layer of super- hydrophobic and oleophobic material called Ultra-Ever Dry that is sprayed over the paint. It creates a protective layer between the body and environment, and it means that when dirt or water come into contact with the car, the gunk just sheets away. Nissan admits that the coating is still early in testing. The key will be if the stuff can actually last for the long term, and the company will be analyzing it over the coming months to see how it will react in different conditions. At the moment, the automaker has no plans to offer Ultra-Ever Dry as a standard feature, but it may make it available as an aftermarket addition in the future. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi pool $200 million to invest in tech startups
Fri, Jan 5 2018PARIS — The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance is setting up a $200 million mobility tech fund, three sources said, in the latest move by major carmakers to adapt to rapid industry change by investing in startups through their own venture capital arms. The fund, due to be unveiled by Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn at the CES tech industry show in Las Vegas next Tuesday, will be 40 percent financed by Renault, 40 percent by Nissan and 20 percent by Mitsubishi. "It will allow us to move faster on acquisitions ahead of our competition," one of the alliance sources told Reuters. Frederique Le Greves, a spokeswoman for the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, declined to comment. The traditional auto industry model based on individual ownership is threatened by pay-per-use services such as Uber, as well as ride- and car-sharing platforms, a challenge heightened by parallel shifts towards electrified and self-driving cars. Wary carmakers are struggling to embrace changes and technologies that some of their executives are only beginning to grasp. To accelerate the process, many are investing directly in the new services — and gaining access to intellectual property — via their own corporate venture capital (CVC) funds. BMW has purchased stakes in a plethora of ride-sharing, smart-charging and autonomous vehicle software firms through its 500 million euro ($600 million) iVentures fund, the biggest such in-house facility belonging to a carmaker. Among others that have been increasingly active are General Motors' GM Ventures, with $240 million, and Peugeot-maker PSA Group's 100 million-euro investment arm. CVC funds, a familiar feature of innovative sectors such as tech and pharmaceuticals, have become more commonplace among carmakers since the 2008-9 financial crisis. They let companies skip some of the formalities otherwise required for new investments, and pounce more swiftly on promising startups. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi venture will also obviate the current need to thrash out the ownership split for each new alliance acquisition. It represents a further step in the integration of the carmakers as they pursue 10 billion euros in annual synergies by 2022. France's Renault holds a 43.4 percent stake in Nissan, which in turn controls Mitsubishi. Ghosn heads Renault and chairs all three.
