For sale is a nice 1993 300ZX 2+2

I am the third owner, although you can think of me as the second owner, as the previous owner was my father. The car has been in my family and well cared for since 1999.  The car has low miles for its age (equivalent to only 7,290 miles / year) and is reliable.  It has automatic transmission, T-tops, and is the 2+2 model (it has back seats).  The 2+2 model is a few inches longer than the regular and that additional length really makes the car a lot better looking.  This has been my daily driver for the past few years.

The exterior is in good condition, with a few spots where the paint needs to be touched up, but otherwise the car is clean.  The bumpers are not marked up and the car has only one minor door ding.  You can tell the car was well cared for and that it was parked carefully.

The engine runs reliably although it can use a tune up - specifically one fuel injector needs replacement.  The interior is in good shape although the driver's seat has some tears in the leather from age.  With the exception of one rust spot by the front drivers side wheelwell, there is no rust on the exterior or on the underbody.  The car has never been smoked in - the car smells clean and natural.  There is a driver's side airbag.  Air conditioning works great.  The car has never been in an accident - and has a clean Carfax report.

Tires are a matched set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires - these are really high performance tires and you'd be hard pressed to find a better performing set.  The tires are fairly new and look to have 75-80% of their life left.

The suspension was overhauled in 2011 with with Eibach springs and KYB AGX adjustable stiffness struts.  These springs lowered the car about one inch.  Various bushings were also replaced at that time, with high performance urethane bushings.  In total, the car grips the road and handles very well.

The stereo was recently upgraded to a modern Kenwood model, which has CD, a USB connection for the iPhone or Android phones, or you can connect a thumbdrive and it will read MP3s off of it.  It also has a line-in jack and can run Pandora on iPhones.

The car comes with an original 300ZX key (special looking key) and a handful of spare keys, the owners manual and the factory service manual.

The car is located in Freeport, NY (Long Island).  The car was high and dry during the hurricane if you were wondering.  Feel free to contact me to come see and test drive the car.

Good luck bidding!

'Nothing is blocking' Nissan alliance talks, says Renault chairman

Tue, Nov 15 2022

TOKYO — Nothing is blocking discussions between Nissan and Renault over the future of their alliance and the two companies will have "important talks" on Tuesday and Wednesday, the French automaker's chairman said in Tokyo. Speaking at an event on Tuesday, Renault SA chairman Jean-Dominique Senard touted the Franco-Japanese alliance, which has been discussing ways to revamp the relationship. The companies had initially set Tuesday as a deadline to hammer out a deal. However, the discussions have taken longer than originally expected due to Nissan's concerns about how its intellectual property rights can be protected as Renault forges new ties with China's Geely, sources have told Reuters. Renault last week unveiled a sweeping overhaul of its businesses, saying it would set up a joint venture with Geely for gasoline engines and hybrid technology and spin off its electric vehicles unit next year. It wants Nissan to invest in the new electric unit. The companies are also renegotiating their equity ties, which currently see Renault owning a controlling 43% of Nissan and the Japanese company holding only a 15% non-voting stake in Renault. "Nothing is blocking" the discussions, he told reporters after the event, declining to say when the alliance members would reach a deal and adding "you will be informed on time." "As the chairman of this alliance, I've never lived such a warm atmosphere within the alliance and this bodes well for the future."   Green Mitsubishi Nissan Renault

Half of Chinese car buyers won't shop Japanese over hard feelings

Mon, May 26 2014

The hard feelings between China and Japan is no real secret. Besides modern-day disputes, the two countries have had a long-running enmity that dates back to well before the atrocities of World War II. All things considered, then, it shouldn't be a shock that half of Chinese car buyers wouldn't consider a Japanese car. This survey, conducted by Bernstein Research, found that 51 percent of 40,000 Chinese consumers wouldn't even consider a Japanese car – which, again, isn't really surprising, when you consider stories like this. According to Bernstein, the most troubling thing is the location of these sentiments – smaller, growing cities where the population is going to need sets of wheels. We imagine it wouldn't be as big of an issue in traffic-clogged Shanghai or Beijing, but these small cities are going to become a major focus for automakers. "Nationalistic feelings are an impediment. [Japanese] premium brands will struggle," analyst Max Warburton wrote in a research note, according to The Wall Street Journal. Things will improve for Japanese makes, although China will remain a challenge, with Warburton writing, "the one thing that comes out most clearly is that most Chinese really want a German car. While we expect Japanese brands to continue to recover market share this year, ultimately the market will belong to the Germans." There are a few other insights from the study. According to WSJ, Japanese brands are viewed better than Korean brands, and they're seen as more comfortable than the offerings from Germany or the US, despite the fact that everyone in China apparently wants a German car. This is a tough position for the Japanese makes to be in, as there's really not a lot they can do to win favor with Chinese buyers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, particularly as the importance of the PRC continues to increase year after year.
