1993 Nissan 300ZX 2+2

For sale is a nice 1993 Nissan 300ZX.

The car is overall in good physical and good running condition.  I drove this car to work every day up until a few months ago when I needed something bigger.  I've been holding onto it, but sadly it has to go.

The car runs reliably and handles very well.  It has not been abused or driven hard.  I am the third owner, and the previous owner was my father.  Between the two of us we've owned the car for most of its life.  So this is not a car that has passed through many different owners who beat it up.  The car was cared for, maintained and kept up with repairs as needed over the years. It should pass inspection without a problem.

The exterior is in good shape overall.  There is one area that shows rust - which is behind the front drivers side wheelwell.  Otherwise, the car does not have rust issues.  It pretty much only has one door dent - it is not dinged up.  I always parked away from other cars.  The car has never been smoked in and I do not use scented sprays or magic tree type things either - it smells clean and natural.

The car has a T-top roof and the car comes with the removable sun shades.  The roof is good and watertight - no leaks.

The suspension has recently been overhauled with high end Eibach springs and KYB adjustable struts.  It has excellent tires - Continental ExtremeContact tires, with about 80% tread life left.  The handling is excellent.

The engine is reliable and has a nice sound to it.  Oil has always been changed regularly with Synthetic.  One of the injectors needs replacement, but still the engine runs well.

The car has automatic transmission, which works perfectly.

The interior is black leather.  The leather on the driver's seat has a tear in it from age, but not in a way that looks bad or abused.  Otherwise, the interior looks very good.  This is the 2+2 model, meaning that it has back seats.  The 2+2 model is a few inches longer than the regular Z, and that stretch makes it a much better looking car.

The stereo has been recently upgraded to a Kenwood stereo with CD, a USB port and line-in jack.

Overall, this is a great car, low miles, looks great and lots of fun to drive.

The car is located in Freeport, NY.  Feel free to contact me for a test drive.  You can reach me via ebay or at 917-304-1439.  Please don't contact me about trades for another car or to make offers below the auction price.

This is a NO RESERVE auction, so this will go to the high bidder without any reserve price.  Good luck bidding!

Nissan recalling 841k vehicles overseas for steering wheel trouble

Sat, 25 May 2013

A possible issue with a steering wheel bolt in the Nissan Micra (shown) and Cube from the 2002 to 2006 model years has Nissan recalling roughly 841,000 units on four continents, as well as Oceania and the Middle East. On the affected cars, the bolt may not have been tightened properly, which could lead to a loss of steering in a worst-case scenario. According to Reuters, there haven't been any reports of accidents or injuries due to the fault, however.
The Micras affected were built in the UK and Japan, the Cubes in Japan. Nissan has yet to say when the recall will begin, but when it does, owners can take their cars to dealers for repairs; the bolt with either be tightened or, if necessary, a new steering wheel installed.

Infiniti installs Taisuke Nakamura as new design chief

Mon, Aug 26 2019

The cubicles and corner offices at Infiniti HQ in Japan continue to change hands. Infiniti Global Design Chief Karim Habib, only in that position for about two years since leaving BMW in 2017, has left the Japanese luxury brand "to pursue other opportunities." In his place, Nissan has elevated Taisuke Nakamura, a 26-year company veteran who is currently Nissan's program design director responsible for global design strategy, and concept car and production vehicle design. Nakamura has a stout design resume in service to both Nissan and Infiniti, having worked on the Qs Inspiration sedan concept (above) shown at the Shanghai Motor Show in April, the QX Inspiration crossover concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show this year (below), and the Prototype 10 speedster concept revealed at Pebble Beach last year (bottom). All of those were electric concepts, making Nakamura the point man for Infiniti's push into electric vehicles and hybrids, and the carmaker's introduction of a new design language. Last year, Infiniti said it would have a new EV on the market in 2021, as well as "e-Power" series hybrids with small battery packs charged by gas-powered generators.   Those EVs should fully embody the brand's new design DNA, seen initially in the recent concepts. The automaker said around the Qs reveal that the new "aesthetics are underpinned by Infiniti's desire to challenge convention and design cars which are engaging, enriching, enabling and enchanting – what the company calls its ‘4ENÂ’ approach to design." At the QX reveal in January, Habib said that as engineers made a "shift towards smarter, more compact and less intrusive powertrains, we were able to create an alternative form with flowing gestures, more engaging in character and more enriching in experience. With its long cabin, balanced proportions and muscular stance, the concept heralds in a new era for Infiniti models.” Infiniti said Nakamura takes up his post next week, Sept. 1, and will report to the same boss he has now, Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan's global design head. Aside from Habib, other top non-Japanese Nissan executives such as Daniele Schillaci, Jose Munoz and Trevor Mann have left the Japanese automaker in the recent past, since the arrest of Carlos Ghosn. The former chairman, who faces charges of fraud and misconduct, is awaiting trial in Japan over charges including enriching himself at a cost of $5 million to Nissan, Japan's No. 2 automaker.

Nissan's 'No Charge to Charge' is what incentives look like in the EV age [UPDATE]

Wed, Jul 9 2014

Nissan knows that offering free charging can increase Leaf sales, so it only makes sense for them to expand the "No Charge to Charge" program. And that's exactly what happened yesterday. As previewed during the New York Auto Show, No Charge To Charge gives new Leaf buyers free charging at participating public charging stations – which is pretty much any public station – for two years. That's the kind of thing that simplifies the EV buying process, which can move units, Brendan Jones, director of Nissan EV sales and infrastructure, told AutoblogGreen. "There is an expectation that we'll get a sales increase out of this," Jones said. "All the dealer has to say is that we have one card that accesses all chargers and we have a promotion where you can get free charging. The more complexity we reduce, the more sales we get." "The more complexity we reduce, the more sales we get." – Nissan's Brendan Jones That all-access angle is important for the broader EV market, Jones said, calling the program, "The first valid step towards interoperability." Jones said there will be more surprise announcements soon. "The infrastructure companies really came together to support Nissan on this," he said, but added that, "What's good for the industry and EVs in general is good for Nissan." "Leaf customers are not shy about their ability to provide constructive criticism," Jones said, " and interoperability has always been a big concern." Now that many of the early adopters drive an EV, the next target audience are the people who are telling EV companies to "Make this easy for me and I will adopt," Jones said. "[Interoperability] is a necessity for the industry now. We know the experience is great once they drive it. This just takes away a barrier, that confusion at the dealership." And, in some areas in the US, No Charge To Charge is now live. There are 2,600 public stations (200 of them fast chargers) in the initial 10 markets, Nissan says. Those include: San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Portland (OR), Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Washington, DC. Nissan hasn't announced where the next 15 markets will be, but we know that they will likely be wherever the Leaf is selling well and there are a fair number of DC fast chargers. As we reported in April, each charging session in the No Charge To Charge program is limited to 30 minutes if you're plugged into a CHAdeMO fast charge station and to an hour at a Level 2 station.
