I have ran out of room to store all my vehicles and toys so I must let this antique 1987 300ZX 2+2 go to a new home. It has 97025 miles at the time of this listing. The pictures tell a pretty accurate story. The body is pretty darn straight with only a couple of minor dings that will not show on the pictures. The paint is original and has lots of color left but it does show fading in sun prone areas such as the top and deck. There are some scratches here and there mostly around the ground effects but again I doubt you would even see them in the pictures. The wheels are straight and true but do have some flakes here and there along with some oxidation. The center caps look brand new. The front tires are about 65% but the backs are about 10% and will need replacement soon. The interior is good with some fading in sun prone areas. The leather seats are in really good shape with  exception of a couple of scrapes on the drivers side bolster from getting in and out. The dashboard has no cracks. The glass is all in good shape. The tops seal nicely and have the factory sun shades installed. There is some sun drying/fading of the T-top headliner carpet on the driver side. The actual headliner does not sag. I have a new shift boot to replace the worn one but it is not installed. All features work but maybe the power window buttons should be removed and cleaned as you have to press harder on them and the steering wheel radio controls. The factory radio is replaced with a Sony aftermarket and the factory harness and amplifier were removed before I bought it. The rear deck seals good and does not leak. Before I got the car, the tail lights were leaking (common problem) and the floor under the rear carpet was staying damp. There was some surface rust under the driver side rear cargo mat but I removed it with a wire wheel brush and primered it with rust kill. I removed the entire tail light assembly and had it professionally sealed with the factory windshield adhesive cord that was used in that location from the factory. There is still a slight mildew odor from it being damp but I am confident that coffee grounds or baking soda would remove it. The power antenna does work but makes some clicking noises after the cycling. The engine and transmission run very smooth. The previous owner had replaced the timing belt, tensionor, cam seal, crank seal, thermostat, all radiator hoses and water pump at 92760 miles at a Nissan dealership (receipt shows $1433of maintenance ). I have also rebuilt the front struts with new cartridges only about 500 miles ago. This car is offered as pick up only. If you would prefer to arrange for shipping I will be available to make sure it gets onto the truck. I offer no warranties on this antique auto. I will require a non-refundable $500 deposit via PayPal at the end of the auction. The balance of the winning bid will be due within (7) days of the auction end. I will accept Cashiers Check and cash only for final payment. I encourage all potential buyers to come look at the car in person and also look the value up on NADA.

Bret Michaels Poisons Nissan's commercial trucking ops

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

Mötley Crüe isn't the only 1980s hair-metal band getting into the world of auto promotion. Poison frontman and reality show star Bret Michaels is following their lead and doing some advertising of his own. Where the Crüe have been all over the airwaves in recent years with a Super Bowl ad for Kia and music licensing with Dodge, Michaels has taken a very different route by becoming the pitchman for Nissan Commercial Vehicles.
The videos run the gamut to advertise predominantly the NV line of full-size vans, but the NV200 shows up a few times too. The star of this new campaign is Michaels' full-length music video (above) for the song Tough Love. It's basically a parody of all of those '80s rock ballads where the bands would slow the tempo down a little and reveal their softer side. Michaels rocks out at the Nissan proving grounds in Stanfield, AZ, while showing off the evaluation process and strutting around like a proper rock frontman. There are also a bunch of shorter videos (below) with the singer highlighting each part of the vans' torture testing. Although, the dialogue in these come off a bit more stilted. With these '80s metal bands getting into advertising, can it be long before Warrant is shilling for Fiat or Ratt for Mazda?

Carlos Ghosn freed from jail after four months

Wed, Mar 6 2019

TOKYO — Wearing a mask, cap and what looked like a construction worker's outfit, the former chairman of Nissan Motor Co., Carlos Ghosn, left a Tokyo detention center Wednesday after posting 1 billion yen ($8.9 million) bail. Although his face was obscured as he left the facility, Ghosn's identity was apparent as he smiled after arriving at a building in downtown Tokyo, having removed his jacket, mask and hat. There was a scramble by media to follow Ghosn after he boarded a small Suzuki van, topped with a ladder, and traveled from the Tokyo Detention Center toward downtown. Motorcycles trailed the van in formation as it passed through city streets to one of the defense lawyer's offices. Ghosn later left in another car, which was mobbed by media. Ghosn, the former head of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Motors alliance was arrested on Nov. 19. He is charged with falsifying financial reports and with breach of trust. The Tokyo District Court confirmed the 1 billion yen ($8.9 million) bail was posted earlier in the day, after a judge rejected an appeal from prosecutors requesting his continued detention. That cleared the way for Ghosn to leave the facility after spending nearly four months since his arrest. Before his release, Ghosn, who turns 65 on Saturday, issued a statement reasserting his innocence. "I am innocent and totally committed to vigorously defending myself in a fair trial against these meritless and unsubstantiated accusations," he said. A date for his trial has not yet been set. Suspects in Japan often are detained for months, especially those who insist on their innocence, like Ghosn. Some legal experts, including Junichiro Hironaka, one of his lawyers, have criticized the system as "hostage justice," saying the long detentions tend to encourage false confessions. Ghosn's lawyer in France, Jean-Yves Le Borgne, said the lawyers in Japan will be leading the defense but he was in touch with them. "He is catching his breath and settling in," Le Borgne said of Ghosn. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said a presumption of innocence for Ghosn was crucial, while noting the importance to France of the alliance between Nissan and French automaker Renault SA. "It is a good thing that Carlos Ghosn can defend himself freely and serenely, and his release will permit Carlos Ghosn to defend himself freely and serenely," he said. The French government owns about 15 percent of Renault SA, making it an influential voice in the future of the alliance.

Federal prosecutor fights bail for men accused of helping Carlos Ghosn escape

Tue, Jun 23 2020

BOSTON — A U.S. prosecutor on Monday urged a judge to keep a former Green Beret and his son locked up as Japan prepares to formally seek their extradition on charges that they helped former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn flee the East Asian country. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Hassink argued during a virtual hearing that Michael Taylor and his son, Peter Taylor, have a "clear and present reason to flee" after being accused of helping Ghosn, who faces financial misconduct charges in Japan. "They're actually some of the best defendants that IÂ’m sure this court has seen positioned to actually succeed in that flight," Hassink said. He argued the men, who have been held without bail since being arrested in Massachusetts last month, helped smuggle Ghosn out of Japan in a box on Dec. 29, 2019. Ghosn then allegedly fled to Lebanon, his childhood home, which has no extradition treaty with Japan. Ghosn, Nissan's former chief executive, was charged with engaging in financial wrongdoing by understating his compensation in Nissan's financial statements. He denies wrongdoing. The Taylors' lawyers countered that had they wished to avoid prosecution they could have remained in Lebanon, where they were in January when Japan said it would seek their arrest, rather than return to Massachusetts. "If he's an expert of escape, he would not have returned to the United States," Robert Sheketoff, a lawyer for Michael Taylor, argued. He and other defense lawyers argued the case against their clients was flawed and that Michael Taylor, a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran and private security specialist, is at heightened risk of complications from COVID-19, which could spread in the jail. The hearing itself was held through a Zoom videoconference because of the coronavirus pandemic. U.S. Magistrate Judge Donald Cabell said he hoped to rule "as quickly as I can." Related Video:
