White 2002 used Mitsubishi Lancer ES 4 door sedan with 19,671 miles.  One owner since Sept. 2003, purchased from CarMax on that date.  No accidents but there is some minor rust and small dings.  Last oil change 1/16/13.  New struts & tie rod Dec. 2010.  Tune up April 2009.  New front brakes May 2008.  New tires April 2007.  Basic oil changes & maintenance done regularly, last taken in for oil change 1/16/13.  Runs just fine but the steering wheel has a shimmy, even at low speed.  Shocks can be squeaky and wheels can make a metallic sound on slow sharp turning.  I have not had the wheels analyzed.  Selling as is.  Otherwise it's a good car.  A small dent in driver's side door above handle from shopping cart bump years ago w/ a bit of rust visible on close inspection.   A/C and heat work fine.  There is no radio.  The factory installed radio had broken and we removed it and didn't replace it.  The wiring looks intact, though.  We just had a CD stuck and had to get it out.  Needs a solid cleaning but is generally free of debris.  Needs to be vacuumed out or detailed.  It seems there's a stain on the rear seat, but I hadn't even noticed it until looking at the picture, so it's not terribly obvious.  Has all four floor mats and the spare donut tire.  I have an extra wheel cover you can have, too.  Includes the manual.  Passed Illinois emissions test 4/14/12; I have the compliance certificate.  Clear title.  It's a nice car; I just got a new one and it's time to move on.  Please email with any questions.  I've tried to list everything I can think of here, but if more information becomes relevant I will certainly post it.  Buyer to pay cash in person on pickup.  Car can be picked up either in Broadview at our place of business right off of 290 or can be at our Oak Park residence, depending on the circumstances of the day of pickup.  No reserve.  Thanks for looking!

FCA withdraws its offer to merge with Renault

Thu, Jun 6 2019

UPDATE: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles released a statement confirming that it has withdrawn its merger offer, saying "it has become clear that the political conditions in France do not currently exist for such a combination to proceed successfully." The full statement can be read below our original story, which continues below. Fiat Chrysler has withdrawn its $35 billion merger offer for Renault, the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday. A source said that FCA had informed Renault it had withdrawn the offer after Renault's board of directors failed to reach a decision on the merger during a meeting that ran late into the night Wednesday. Instead, the board granted the French government's request to postpone its vote. The government wanted time to persuade Renault's reticent alliance partner Nissan. Renault's board issued a press release that said simply that it was "unable to take a decision due to the request expressed by the representatives of the French State to postpone the vote to a later Council." WSJ reported that Nissan's two members on Renault's board were balking, while the rest of the board favored the merger. The French government wouldn't it back the deal unless Nissan agreed to maintain its role in the Renault-Nissan alliance, sources said. Nissan had received little advance warning of the merger proposal and was balking. Apparently the French government thought Nissan could be brought around if given more time. "We should take our time to make sure that things are done well," French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told French television on Wednesday. When the French requested a delay and Renault's board granted it, FCA withdrew. The French state, which owns 15% of Renault, had also been seeking more influence over the merged company, firmer job guarantees and improved terms for Renault shareholders in return for blessing the $35 billion tie-up. The merger would have created the world's third-biggest automaker with combined sales of 8.7 million vehicles per year, and was intended to cut costs as the parties develop electric and autonomous vehicles. Read Fiat Chrysler Automobile's full statement below: FCA withdraws merger proposal to Groupe Renault June 5, 2019 , London - IMPORTANT NOTICE The Board of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. ("FCA") (NYSE: FCAU / MTA: FCA), meeting this evening under the Chairmanship of John Elkann, has resolved to withdraw with immediate effect its merger proposal made to Groupe Renault.

2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR

Quick Corners And Long Goodbyes
Editor's Note: While driving the Mitsubishi Evolution in the slush and snow of a Michigan winter is a fine enterprise, photographing it in such conditions is usually not fruitful. That's why you'll notice a slight disparity between our wintry text and sunny, California-based photographs of the subject car. Rest assured, both the review vehicle and the photo car are of the same basic Evo GSR flavor.
It was a dreary, gray, barely sufferable winter morning in Ann Arbor, MI. Temperatures hovering just over 30 degrees allowed for snow or rain or some combination thereof at a moment's notice, and the thickly clouded sky hinted at dark secrets while promising nothing. I've never been a rally driver but I couldn't help but feel that this murky, imprecise day was good winter rally weather. I'll admit: I don't usually wake up and look out the window to judge which kind of racing would be best just then, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR delivered to my house the day before was coloring the mood of the hour; most of my thoughts ran to where I was going to drive it, when, and how fast.

Mitsubishi admits it lied about MPG ratings for all vehicles in Japan

Wed, May 11 2016

Like the Volkswagen diesel emission scandal, news about Mitsubishi's lies over fuel-economy ratings for its Japanese market vehicles is going from bad to worse. First, it was just a few kei cars. Then it was vehicles made as far back as 1991. Now Mitsubishi has admitted deceptive mileage test data could affect every vehicle it has sold in Japan, but not vehicles sold elsewhere. We suspect that this will not cause the EPA to relax its request for more information from the Japanese automaker to see if any vehicles sold in the US are affected. Mitsubishi Motors North America has said its US numbers are legit. In a letter to the Japanese government, Mitsubishi said that even though its managers knew getting good fuel economy ratings was a difficult task, they didn't ask too many questions of the engineers actually doing the tests. That allowed those employees to fake some of the numbers. Exactly what the repercussions will be in Japan is not known, CBS News says, both in terms of fines or penalties and how to compensate people who bought these vehicles. Reports are also just coming in that the fuel scandal might lead to Nissan taking control of Mitsubishi. More on this as it develops.
