I am not a dealership, nor am I trying to sell you a burned street racing car. This is my personal car and baby, always garaged. This is a 22 year old classic car with less than 29,000 original and unaltered miles (verified by CARMAX report). Do not expect a perfect off the dealership car. I drive this car and as such you should expect some minor wear and tear (and I have point them out in the video to the best of my abilities). However, for a 22 year old car, it is in impressive condition and lots of fun to drive. You climb into the driver’s seat not knowing what you are about to experience, but once inside the cockpit seems more like that of a fighter jet than that of a sports car. With the engine idling, there is little more than a soft, baritone rumble coming from the tuned exhaust pipes. Revving the engine gives you the feeling of untamed power. Ease the shifter into first gear and the transmission responds with reassuring precision. Press down on the accelerator and experience total exhilaration. Both intercooled turbochargers emit a noticeable shrill hiss, and 300 plus horsepower pours into the full-time all-wheel-drive system. The alloy wheels and 255/45 Z-rated tires dig into the pavement, the suspension tenses, and the 3OOOGT VR-4 launches off the line. Sweep into the first turn, and the same-phase four-wheel steering generates breathtaking stability. The steering wheel is alive with information about the road.

Your confidence soars. Your heart pounds. You can feel the intense power of which you are in control. Accelerate out of the turn and all-wheel drive with two limited-slip differentials creates unyielding traction. You power out of the corner with riveting control. The car appears to be riding on rails. On the open highway, the Active Aero system automatically adjusts the front air dam and rear spoiler, leveraging the wind for even more stability – without increasing aerodynamic drag. Electronically controlled shock absorbers immediately adapt to changing conditions.

At cruising speed, you pull the shifter back into fifth gear. Before you know it, you’re flying thru the atmosphere! The engine settles down into an easy rhythm, the suspension relaxes, and the 3OOOGT VR-4 seems to become a form of transportation that NASA has overlooked… and I am fortunate enough to experience this thrill every time a drive.

Some specs:

  • Twin turbochargers and twin intercoolers

  • 181 cu in w/ 8.0:1 compression

  • Electronic controlled MFI (multi-point fuel injection) with twin spray injectors

  • Full time all-wheel drive with center differential and electronic traction control

  • 7 way adjustable driver’s seat with 5 way power adjustments

So if I like it so much, why am I selling? I want to buy another toy. This does not mean I am desperate to sell and serious buyers are welcomed. Do not ask me about the reserve price (this will be unfair to other bidding), but I will be more than glad to provide you with more car info. If you are the successful bidder a non- refundable $500 deposit is required within 24 hrs. via Pay Pal. Full payment must be made upon delivery to you or delegated shipping company. You are responsible for transportation or delivery. Do not miss this unique 3000 GT VR4.

Mitsubishi developing new standalone hybrid Evo successor

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

Mention the name Mitsubishi to different people and you'll likely get two startling different images. Environmentalists will focus on the company's strides in developing EVs, while performance enthusiasts will point you toward the Lancer Evolution. The prevailing wisdom was that Mitsubishi would cancel the latter to concentrate on the former, but the latest intel suggests that the two will be reconciled with a new Evo around the corner.
Although Mitsubishi is reportedly working to streamline its lineup from 23 models on 12 different platforms to 13 models on 7 by 2016, the next Evo will stand as an exception. Like Subaru did with the formerly Impreza-based WRX (or for that matter Nissan with the formerly Skyline-based GT-R), the new Evo won't have anything to do with the next Lancer, which itself will be based on a Renault-Nissan platform.
On that unique platform, Mitsubishi is likely to install a small direct-injection turbo engine (potentially a diesel) that could be based on the 1.1-liter, three-cylinder turbo engine in the XR-PHEV concept we saw in Tokyo, supplemented by small electric motors with lightweight batteries and driving all four wheels through an enhanced version of the company's Super All-Wheel Control system. As to whether the Evo name will carry over, that remains to be seen, but if these reports prove accurate, its spirit could very much live on.

Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more collaborating to increase fuel efficiency

Sun, 25 May 2014

Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Daihatsu have announced an alliance that will see a push to improve fuel economy from both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines by as much as 30 percent before the end of the decade.
The newly assembled Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines put the roughly $20-million project together, with the Japanese government committing to half the cost while the eight manufacturers will chip in the rest.
According to Automotive News, the automakers will team up and share basic research on internal-combustion engines in a bid to cut costs. Eventually, the results of the research will find its way into a production vehicle, although it's unclear just when we'll see the fruits of this partnership on the road.

Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.
