Dark Silver Metallic with Panther Black interior in a ultra clean, 3600 mile, John Cooper Works cabriolet. With 208hp, a weight of about 2600 lbs and a suspension designed by BMW this car is a recipe for fun. In addition to its spectacular performance this car also offers beautiful visual enhancements including the chrome line interior and exterior accents and chrome mirror caps. The Sport Package option adds 17" 5 spoke wheels, Dynamic Stability Control, Foglights and Xenon headlights. Add to that the center armrest, Harmon-Kardon Sound System and Cockpit Chrono. And I know of no other car that has so many well thought out features including a cab top that slides open part way to resemble a targa top. Who thinks of this stuff? Yes, it's great on gas, can be parked just about anywhere and generates loads of passerby compliments. But the real joy of owning a Mini is the fun of driving a super light car that begs to be tossed around. Unfortunately, with only 3600 miles, this car is still waiting for someone to put it through its paces. Beautiful condition, just given a clean bill of health by the Mini dealer and a clean Carfax of course. This Mini is offered for sale under our Weissach Autohaus' Broker Services Program allowing a privately owned car to be sold by Weissach Autohaus on behalf of its owner. As a requirement of participation in this program, this car has received an inspection to assess the general condition of the vehicle (note that this inspection is not a complete PPI). Inspection results and Carfax available upon request. Since this vehicle is privately owned no additional warranty is provided by Weissach Autohaus with vehicle purchase. BMW profit of $2.7B is down as automaker invests to keep luxury lead
Fri, 02 Aug 2013
Despite selling 6.6-percent more vehicles - a record by volume - and posting higher revenues in the second quarter of 2013, BMW Group's profit of 2.07 million euros ($2.75 billion) is down 8.8 percent from last year. Investments in new technology (e.g. the new i3) and personnel, in addition to a competitive market, are to blame, BMW states. But the automaker remains committed to its fiscal targets for 2013, which, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, says will be "on a similar scale to 2012."
The BMW brand's sales performance in the first half of the year, which increased by 7.7 percent to 804,258 vehicles delivered, was good enough for it to maintain its lead in the luxury market, narrowly beating Audi, which delivered 780,510 vehicles, Automotive News reports. Mercedes-Benz delivered 694,433 vehicles to cement third place.
Mini interns turn Paceman into Adventure pickup
Thu, 24 Apr 2014With coupes and convertibles, hatchbacks and crossovers, Mini has done just about every bodystyle we could think of, and then a few more as concepts. But it hasn't done a pickup. At least it hadn't until now.
What we have here is a Mini Paceman (that, of course, being the coupe version of the Countryman) which has been transformed into a pickup by a group of BMW interns. It's called the Mini Paceman Adventure, and it's currently on display at the Mini dealership in Munich. According to BimmerToday.de, the project involved not only chopping the roof and installing a makeshift pickup bed, but also reinforcing the body, reforming the underbody and B-pillar, fitting off-road tires (including a spare fitted to a roof rack) and a handful of other minor modifications.
The photos are a little sketchy (although the dealership tells us a better set will be available soon), but from what we can see, it looks like a pretty solid project - one that makes us wonder if the apprentices' bosses might be paying attention. Because next to the Mini Coupe with its oddball backwards-hat roof treatment, this one-off looks as sensible as you'd expect from a group of German interns.
Honda engines and giant killing in the classic Mini Cooper
Mon, 22 Jul 2013Electric Federal has taken a fresh look back at the enduring legacy of original Mini with a video interview with Heritage Garage's Graham Reid, one of the foremost experts on classic Minis. As Electric Federal points out, it's important to remember that the Mini did not start out as a performance car. It was built in response to the Suez Canal crisis of the mid-50s, which had a similar effect on British gas prices as OPEC did on American prices in the 1970s - rationing and rapid price jumps.
Through the years, Minis have grown from their budget roots to become seriously competent performance machines. As Reid says, a 150-horsepower Mini on the right track should have no problem outpacing a contemporary Porsche 911.
For some time now, classic Mini owners have been dropping Honda engines under the tiny hoods of their classics. With up to 250 horsepower pulling a car that tips the scales at barely 1,200 pounds, the upgraded Mini is "a real sleeper," Reid says. Interestingly, Reid doesn't mention another increasingly common swap in the Mini community - Suzuki Hayabusa-powered Coopers.
