2003 Mini Cooper S 1.6l Turbo - Electric Blue W/ White Top - Black Leather on 2040-cars
Matthews, North Carolina, United States
|
Great combination of the gorgeous and uncommon Electric Blue Metallic color with white roof, white mirror caps, and white X-Lite V-Spoke wheels (factory Mini wheels, not aftermarket). Even more uncommon are the front AND rear white racing stripes - almost all Mini Coopers with stripes only have them on the front. The windows are tinted and do not exceed the maximum legal tint in North Carolina. It is a 6-speed manual transmission with a 1.6L supercharged 4 cylinder engine. It gets great gas mileage, about 22 city and 31 highway. Because of the light weight and the supercharged engine, it can really get moving when you need it to. It has a surprising amount of power and torque in first gear and can easily start from a stand-still even in second gear. As far as manual transmissions go, this is a very easy one to drive and would be a great car for learning to drive stick. The car is in great condition for its age. As you can see from the pictures, the leather interior is generally in fantastic shape. The front seats do show some signs of wear on the sides, but are otherwise in great condition. The rear seats have rarely been used and are in like-new condition. The paint has been well cared-for and shows no signs of oxidation or fading. It really shines like a new penny, especially in the sun. There are some minor scrapes and rock-marks that are shown up-close in the pictures, but are not noticeable from a few feet away. There are three issues with the vehicle that you should know about before bidding. First, as you can see in the pictures, the car was in a low-speed (~5mph) parking lot collision about two months ago that damaged the front driver's side bumper area. The car is still fine mechanically, but there is a small dent in the bumper and a slightly larger dent in the sheet metal beside the headlight. Secondly, the heat does not work. We haven't bothered to get it fixed because we don't drive the car in cold weather. The A/C compressor was replaced about two years ago with a used compressor. Finally, the sunroof sometimes rattles. When it starts, we usually crack the sunroof and the noise vanishes completely. |

Mini John Cooper Works Paceman is a hot hatch crossover coupe
Thu, 13 Dec 2012The Mini John Cooper Works Paceman, the seventh in the JCW line and called "the first Sports Activity Coupe in its class," is here. It takes its place at the top of the Paceman food chain with a 1.6-liter, twin-scroll turbocharged engine putting out 218 horsepower, with 201 pound-feet of torque on tap and 221 lb-ft available with overboost. Those numbers get the JCW Paceman from zero to 62 miles per hour in 6.9 seconds with either the six-speed manual or automatic transmission, but top speed with the automatic is one mile per hour shy of the manual's 140 mph. Fuel economy has been rated at a combined 35.8 US mpg on the EU cycle.
It earns its JCW stripes with a suspension that's been lowered by 10 millimeters over 18-inch lightweight alloys, Mini's ALL4 all-wheel drive, an aero kit to beef up its profile, plus a sports exhaust with dual chrome pipes. Inside, a sport steering wheel and plenty of contrasting materials represent the lineage, further emboldened by Chili Red accents to match the exterior.
The Mini JCW Paceman will say "'Allo, guv'nor" to the world at the Detroit Auto Show next month, then hit showrooms in March. The press release just below can tell you all you want to know about it until then.
Mini John Cooper Works Paceman is a potent little hot hatch in a fat suit
Mon, 14 Jan 2013If there's one thing we're never going to complain about, it's that Mini has found it necessary to put the John Cooper Works treatment on every single one of its models. We love the JCW package across the board, and the final installment of the high-performance chapter (for now, anyway) comes in the form of the John Cooper Works Paceman, debuting here at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
The John Cooper Works formula hasn't been altered in any way here, and like the JCW Countryman on which the Paceman is based, it comes standard with Mini's All4 all-wheel-drive system. We're sure it'll be a total hoot, and with 218 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque on tap, how could it not?
Look for the Mini JCW Paceman to hit dealerships in March of this year. Need to know more? Scroll down.
60 Minis will race in the Silverstone Classic for Mini's 60th anniversary
Fri, Jun 28 2019It was just 60 short years ago when Mini established itself as a manufacturer of small cars as part of the British Motor Corporation. Over the years, the Mini became popular among the British people and beyond, not just as a car but as a cultural icon. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Mini is taking over Silverstone Circuit in England. The racetrack announced that 60 classic Minis will be racing in the Silverstone Classic outing, July 26-28. Back in May, Silverstone sought pre-1966 Mini Cooper S models to participate, and the APB received an overwhelming response but fell just short of the 60-car goal. But with the help of Motorsport UK, Britain's motorsport regulatory council, Silverstone was able to find two additional Mini Cooper S models to participate. "It only seems right and proper that we mark the Mini's 60th milestone with a 60-car grid, so we are really grateful to those at Motorsport UK and Masters Historic Racing, who are organizing these anniversary races, for securing this special permission," said Nick Wigley, Silverstone Classic's CEO. "As well as being a sixties fashion icon, the Mini's reputation was built on some wonderful motorsport successes, so there could neither be a better, nor more appropriate, way to celebrate its 60th anniversary than with an incredible 60-strong grid at the world's biggest classic motor racing festival." The Mini first received world recognition as champion of the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally with Paddy Hopkirk and co-driver Henry Liddon. This content is hosted by a third party. Hopkirk will be present for 60-year Mini tribute and will be reunited with his original winning car, Cooper S #37 with license plate 33 EJB. Hopkirk will lead the Silverstone Classic's Diamond Anniversary track parade with his Cooper S. "I'm really flattered to have been asked to front this fantastic parade," Hopkirk said. "It's great that I'll be back in my old car, and I'm going to be bringing the Monte trophy along, too. It was presented to me by Princess Grace. The Classic is such a brilliant event and, oh my goodness, it will be absolutely amazing to see 60 Minis altogether on the track at the same time." All of the Mini Cooper S models invited are powered by the same race-prepped 1.275-liter inline-four, so it'll be an adorable and exciting race and a pure test of driver skill.
