Original 1966 Austin Mark I Mini Cooper s on 2040-cars
Newbury Park, California, United States
Available for purchase an ORIGINAL left hand drive U.S. delivered 1966 Austin Mark I Mini Cooper S. I purchased this car in 1998. It has all its original body panels and there was no rust anywhere on this car. Since my purchase and subsequent restoration, the car has been driven less than 4,000 miles. These miles consist of driving to car shows and rallies in Southern California where it has won numerous first place trophies. I have a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate that shows this vehicle was built in September 1966 and exported to the United States as a personal delivery. I believe I am the 3rd owner and was told by the last owner this vehicle was originally sold in California. The car has been in a climate-controlled garage for the past 16 years and has never been in the rain or washed with a hose while in my possession. The car was restored over a 2-year period. It was completely disassembled and most of the original parts were painted, powder-coated or re-plated, and the body was sent out to be painted. The 1275 S motor was rebuilt to 1293cc by Graham/Heritage Garage (British Auto Specialists). Any original part removed from the car has been saved and these parts are included in the sale of this vehicle. Also included in the sale is a 2 notebook documenting the restoration with receipts along with repair reference material and various Mini Cooper related books. Please remember this is a 14 year old restoration and there are some cosmetic flaws. With this said, you wont find a more attractive, great handling, fast Cooper which has been very well cared for. My motivation to sell her is because I want to move on to other projects. The following is a summary of the condition of the car including items restored: Engine &

2025 Mini Countryman First Drive Review: Mini no more
Wed, Feb 21 2024CASCAIS, Portugal LetΒs cut straight to the issue of size. If the original Mini was a sporting beagle ready for the hunt, the reborn version that hit the world stage in 2001 may have been an English bulldog, albeit bred in Germany, its parents being the engineers and coffers of BMW. From there, the Mini brand has grown in size in regular increments, culminating with the 2025 Mini Countryman thatΒs the subject of this review. The first Countryman that we first tested in 2011 was comparatively large for the brand, but was suitably mini by SUV standards. Its stocky proportions moved it well into the working dog class. And then the second-generation Mini Countryman debuted for the 2017 model year, gaining 8 inches in length and more than 5 inches of width over its predecessor. We described it as Βstill in keeping with the brand's ethos from the very beginning when Alec Issigonis created a car that was microscopic on the outside but disproportionately spacious inside.Β Nevertheless, it was starting too look a little husky, if you catch our drift. Consider the 2025 Mini Countryman a mastiff, then. Compared to the second-gen Countryman it replaces (which, as we already pointed out was much larger than the first edition), the new version is 5.1 inches longer, 2.4 inches taller and 0.8 inch wider. This translates into additional interior space for passengers and cargo, but adds an awful lot of visual and physical girth to something wearing a badge that literally calls out a diminutive size. The proportions are well considered, but parked next to the old car, the new Countryman sticks out like a sore thumb. Literally, like one thatΒs swollen post-accidental-hammer strike. When the full Countryman model lineup is available Stateside, a base model may well be included, but at least for the start of 2025 production the lineup will start with an S edition for $39,895 that will have 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. WeΒre not driving that today. Instead, the subject of this review will be the only other gas-powered Countryman: the high-performance John Cooper Works edition or JCW. The new Countryman JCW starts at $47,895 and is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that spins out 312 ponies (up from 301) and 295 pound-feet of torque (unfortunately down from 331) to all four tires through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and MiniΒs ALL4 all-wheel-drive system.
2014 Mini Cooper S Paceman [w/video]
Mon, 12 Nov 2012Not Too Odd, Not Too Maxi. Is This Mini Just Right?
We recently got our first time behind the wheel of the latest iteration of the Mini Countryman, the 215-horsepower John Cooper Works model, and were left less than enthused despite the inherent fun factor that a JCW badge brings. Our time with the crossover suggests the Countryman is just too weighty and soft to properly wear the badge.
We have also spent loads of time in various Mini Clubman trims and, despite the oddity of its configuration, this model may be our overall favorite in the current Mini lineup. But it is decidedly not a volume seller, which Mini needs.
The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR goes mid-engine, purists be damned
Wed, Nov 16 2016Porsche unveiled its World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Championship competitor with the 2017 911 RSR. And this 911 is different from the rest, as the 4.0-liter flat-six engine powering this beast is in front of the rear axle, not behind it. That's right, this 24 Hours of Le Mans competitor ditches the iconic rear-engine layout. Porsche isn't talking specifics on how exactly things are arranged back there. The engine is new, now based on the 991 911's block instead of the previous Mezger motor that's been used for years. The transmission design is new as well it would have to be to accommodate the new location relative to the engine. The racecar has been engineered to meet the LM-GTE class, where it will go up against other mid-engine cars like the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 GTE. Moving the engine to the middle has given Porsche the ability to fit the 911 RSR with massive bits of aero, like the humongous rear diffuser that looks like it would be more at home on a machine of war. The only thing that can compete with the diffuser for size is the top-mounted rear wing, which shares a similar design to the one found on the 919 Hybrid. Going back to the engine, the direct-injected boxer motor, depending on the size of the restrictor, generates as much as 510 horsepower and sends all of its fury to the rear wheels. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which drivers can employ through paddles on the steering wheel. The new engine doesn't have a lot of weight to push around as the 911 RSR, as required by regulations, weighs 2,740 pounds. Speaking of weight, the engine layout isn't the only change for the 911 RSR. For 2017, the car ditches its steel body for one that's made out of carbon fiber. The body attaches to the chassis via quick-release fasteners, making the vehicle easier to service as exterior elements can be removed with minimal effort. The racecar also gets a radar-based collision system Β aptly named the "Collision Avoid System" Β which is meant to limit the 911 RSR's encounters with faster LMP prototypes. Only time will tell if the new layout and aerodynamic components help the 911 RSR beat its competition. But there will be plenty of opportunities to see the racecar in action as Porsche plans to run the 911 RSR in 19 races during the 2017 season, the first of which will take place at the IMSA opener on January 28th at Daytona, where the racecar will make its track day debut.
