This is it, this is the one you've been looking for!  Let me introduce you to Buckley.

First I should let you know that every car we have has a name.  Most Mini's have names and it's not too uncommon for their owners to treat them as family.  Buckley is no exception.  He is a 1976 Austin Cooper and a very fine one at that.

He was originally built for the Canadian market so he is a normal left hand drive car.  That makes it much easier to drive here in the US.  There are some extra safety features that were mandatory on the Canadian models too.  He is a classic black over red.

He has an amazing manual roll back sunroof that is manufactured by Weathershield of Birmingham, England.  It is my understanding that this was installed at the factory.  It is simply amazing!  It does not leak and when it is open it feels just like driving a convertible.

Buckley's paint job is absolutely spectacular.  He shines so nice.  The black over red gets everyone's attention.  (if you don't like attention don't drive a classic Mini)  There are some really nice details about the paint and body work that would only be noticed by enthusiasts.  On all Mini's they have seams that look like folded metal.  On Buckley these seams have been filled and are smooth.  All Mini's also were made with four holes for wipers so that they could easily switch between right hand drive and left hand drive wipers.  He does not have these extra holes which are normally filled with rubber plugs.

Enough about how he looks.  The pictures will tell you more than I can type.  Let's talk about driving!  First, I should mention that I have driven lots of Mini's.  This one is by far the best driving Mini ever!  It has the larger 1275cc engine with lightened fly wheel.  It also has an amazing short shifter.  The feel is amazing.  He sounds perfect too.

The front brakes have been upgraded to slotted discs.  The tires are Yokohama A008's with a great amount of tread.  They are mounted on beautiful Dunlop wheels.

Service has just been recently completed so he is ready to drive.  Please if you are considering buying this car, please buy it to drive it.  These don't do anyone any good just sitting in a collectors garage.  We have had so many good times and met so many great people in our Mini.  We are part of a club here in Seattle and have taken our Mini's all over the state, we've been to shows in Canada and Oregon.  Life is amazing when you own one of these classics.  Several times we have driven down streets with our other club members and had people on the streets waving and jumping with joy.  People get so excited when they finally see one these in person.

This is listed as a Mini Cooper S because it has all the features of a Cooper S.  The big 1275cc motor, disc brakes, dual tanks, etc.  They actually stopped making the "Cooper S" in 1971 but someone has taken the time to make it just like one.

It also has some hidden details like a stereo.  It is hidden in the passenger glove box and the rear speakers are hidden under the fabric under the rear window.  It's nothing special, just a tape deck, but for those that like to cruise with the radio on or listen to talk radio it does just fine.  I personally can't imagine listening to anything other than the sweet sound of this car.

I am going to post the limit of 24 pictures that eBay will allow.  I have many others and will be posting them to a photo site.

I am available almost any time day or night.  Pick up the phone and give me call or even better send me a text.  I even have an iPhone if you would like to do a FaceTime chat and meet me and Buckley "in person".  My name is Brian and my phone number is 310-714-2924.  If you don't reach me leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I have worked with several shipping companies moving cars from one place to another.  We can ship this car for you anywhere in the US.  If the companies that I have used are not available I have a broker that can get a company at a great deal super quick.

Thanks for taking the time to read my ad.  Please ask any questions prior to bidding.  A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at the end of the auction and final payment must be made within one week of sale.

2014 Mini Cooper interior spied uncovered in China

Wed, 14 Aug 2013

As we approach the November 18 debut of the new Mini Hardtop, the trickle of news is starting to increase. We've already shown you the exterior of the new hatchback, and now we can show you the interior. These images, captured by Car News China, show a cabin that maintains a few key Mini styling items, but is a fairly progressive evolution of the current R56 model.
Mini's most iconic interior treatment, its center-mounted speedometer, is now gone. The new speedo sits atop the steering column, flanked by a (too tiny, in our opinion) tachometer. In the speedometer's former position are the radio controls. Our friends in China put it best when they say, "The large dial is much uglier than before." There's a mass of buttons and unfriendly black plastic that, at first glance, look far cheaper than the rest of the cabin. Of course, we'll wait to see how this is all ironed out for the production-spec car.
The other parts of the interior, however, look quite good. There's a small bank of toggle buttons at the bottom of the center stack, and the checkerboard dash insert looks clean as well. The seats sport extensions for the bottom cushions, meaning there'll be the option of more support for drivers with longer legs. GTI fans might also notice the plaid bolsters on the seats. Mini's treatment is a bit more subtle than what you'd see on a Volkswagen, though.

Last chance to order an R56 Mini Hardtop

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Mini will be ending custom orders of the current R56 Cooper Hardtop ahead of the retooling process for the new F56 Mini. That means owners who aren't enamored with what they've seen of the model's new look but still want a personalized version of the tossable hot hatch had best get down to their local Mini dealership and submit their order post-haste.
According to Mini enthusiast site Motoringfile, all orders must be submitted by August 28 in order to get a custom build. Orders are also locked in after that, so if you do get one of the spots, make sure you're absolutely content with the car you order. This cutoff will affect all models of the Hardtop, including the John Cooper Works model.
After August 28, owners will need to wait for the new Hardtop to arrive, which Motoringfile estimates will be in March of 2014. If you miss out on this final allocation of hardtops, all is not lost, however. Mini will still accept personalized orders on other bodystyles, which won't be replaced by F56-based models for some time.

Sorting through the rat's nest that is Mini's model history

Sat, 13 Apr 2013

What do Austin, Morris, British Motor Corporation, British Motor Holdings, British Leyland, Rover Group, and BMW all have in common? Each company has had a hand in bringing the world a sprightly, fuel-efficient, front-wheel-drive fun box on wheels - the Mini.
The Sir Alec Issigonis-designed car has been sold under more brand names and with more model designations than most of us would guess. For seven generations of the classic Mini, from 1959 to 2000, the car carried a bewildering number of model names as well. (Note that's even before BMW took over the nameplate, and starting building cars styled as "MINI" rather than "Mini" in 2001.)
As is its want, Hemmings Daily has taken the time to break down the complex lineage of the car, with a kind of model etymology that makes for a pretty entertaining read. Click over to the site to give it a go; but check out our gallery of classic Mini pictures before you jump.
