1968 MINI COOPER TRAVELLER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT THE TERRY BENNETT COLLECTION AUCTION LAST FALL. IT HADNT BEEN DRIVEN FOR A COUPLE YEARS I HAD IT TRAILERED TO A LOCAL GARAGE HAD IT GONE THROUGH AND STATE INSPECTED AND DROVE IT ALL LAST FALL TILL ABOUT THANKSGIVING AND PUT IT AWAY FOR THE WINTER. I REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, THE FRONT WHEEL CYLINDERS, NEW SHOCKS, NEW BATTERY, A COUPLE BULBS, BELTS AND HOSES, SOME NEW RUBBER, I HAVE ORDERED REPRODUCTION HUB CAPS FROM MINI MANIA THEY JUST HAVENT COME YET. WHEN I REPLACED THE BATTERY I FOUND A COUPLE MORRIS MINOR BADGES UNDER THE SEATS THAT ARE INCLUDED THEY ARE NOT MOUNTED ON CAR. RIGHT HAND DRIVE, APPARENTLY WAS RESTORED A FEW YEARS AGO PRETTY NICE PAINT NO RUST PROBLEMS. I HAVE INCLUDED PICS OF THE UNDERSIDE AS BEST I CAN THE CAR ONLY HAS 5 INCHES OF GROUND CLEARANCE AND I DONT HAVE A LIFT SO I PUT THE CAR UP ON JACK STANDS. IF I WAS GOING TO KEEP THE CAR I WOULD POWER WASH UNDERSIDE AND PAINT WITH POR 15 RUST PAINT. IF I DO THAT NOW PROSPECTIVE BUYERS WILL THINK I AM TRYING TO HIDE SOMETHING. DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE BUT TOP SPEED IS ABOUT 55MPH. THOSE LITTLE 10 INCH RIMS ARE GOING LIKE THE DICKENS. THIS SILLY LITTLE CAR IS SUCH A KICK TO DRIVE AND IT TURNS MORE HEADS AND STARTS MORE CONVERSATIONS THAN MY TWO VINTAGE CORVETTES. WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY IT CANT WAIT TO START UP AND GET GOING. TOO MANY 4 WHEEL TOYS IS THE ONLY REASON I AM SELLING IT. LOW BUY IT NOW PRICE

New Mini Cooper only just now being delivered due to EPA certification
Mon, 06 Oct 2014The Mini brand and its products have typically been a runaway success for BMW, but sales of the retro hatchback dropped a drastic 20.5 percent last month, and have been doing such pretty much all year.
The reason, according to Jalopnik, is that the new model has been held up due to EPA certification. Mini told our compatriots, "Sales have dropped because our supply has been so limited. MY 2015 Mini Hardtops have also not been able to go on sale pending the final results of federal fuel economy certification."
Mini goes on to clarify that "as of October 1st, three out of the four 2015 Mini Hardtop 2 door models, the Cooper with manual transmission, the Cooper with automatic transmission, and the Cooper S with manual transmission, have been released for retail sales and deliveries."
Mini Clubman Concept throws open all six of its doors for Geneva
Tue, 25 Feb 2014Coming in just over 10 inches longer and 6.5 inches wider than the 2013 Mini Clubman, the new Mini Clubman Concept that you see above is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Let's get the maximum mini jokes out of the way right off the bat... Done? Okay, moving along.
Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, says that this Clubman Concept "shows how the Mini Clubman could be taken a step further: more interior space, a greater sense of high-end quality and yet still clever, bold and distinctive." And that extra interior space will be accessible through four real doors, eschewing the single-sided barn door approach of the current Clubman. Well, mostly - there's still the side-by-side barn door philosophy at the back instead of a more traditional upward-opening hatch. In fact, spy shots and early rumors pegged this more conventionally doored Mini as a new model selling under a new name, possibly Traveller. However, it appears that Mini will stick with the brand equity it has established with Clubman instead.
As you can see in the small image gallery above, the Clubman Concept is instantly recognizable as a Mini, though a somewhat more refined overall package than past efforts. The front headlamps still have a bit of a surprised look to them, but we think this concept's overall fascia, and its unique bright finishes, might be more successful than the latest Cooper's. At the rear, there are a set of rather large taillights dominating the view, and we note that the prevalence of air intakes and scoops at parent BMW have moved on down to the Mini line. We'll have to reserve final judgment until we see the Clubman Concept in person.
Mini exiting WRC after just one year
Fri, 12 Oct 2012There was a fair bit of hullabaloo two years ago when Mini announced a return to the World Rally Championship for this season, but the road to making that happen has been as rocky as a gravel stage. It spent 2011 developing its JCW Countryman WRC challenger, changing its mind about how it wanted to work with Prodrive, dumped a driver due to budget issues, then registering its entry after the deadline had passed in a ploy that might or might not have been a protest aimed at the WRC promoter.
Mini had stated that it wanted to win the whole championship in 2013, and spent 2011 doing six WRC rounds as development. As it stands for this year, the WRC Team Mini Portugal - paid for by Mini, run by ProDrive - scored 26 points in the first rally at Monte Carlo and has so far blanked the rest of the season. The relationship between Mini and ProDrive appeared to be an ever-contentious affair, at the end of this season, even the money will dry up along with what support there was.
Because it contested every race in the calendar, though, Mini says it has completed the FIA requirements for homologation of the JCW Countryman WRC; meaning that privateers can continue purchasing the car and run it in the WRC. BMW Motorsport is continuing development and parts supply of the 1.6-liter turbo engine, and a report in Autosport indicates that ProDrive will continue to run Minis in the series next year.
