1965 Mercury Park Lane Marauder With Hipo 390 on 2040-cars
Camano Island, Washington, United States
1965 Mercury Park Lane Marauder with a HIPo 390 and 3-speed Merc-o-Matic transmission. See video http://youtu.be/baMk45Dfj4I. Body work has been completed and primed. It has been in climate controlled storage since work was completed. The body is straight. This car has been in the family since 2001. The engine runs VERY strong! Custom tuned Edelbrock carburetor and 2 1/2 inch exhaust. The transmission slips somewhat in reverse. Interior is good: good floor panels, needs carpet, some chrome needs work, bucket seats (driver’s seat seams are coming apart,) rear bench, and door panels are in good repair. (A previous owner sprayed black vinyl paint over the cream colored vinyl.) Power windows, manual choke, no A/C, factory tachometer, etc. I have EVERY trim piece except passenger rear post interior light cover, one chrome lock knob cover, and rear speaker. This is incredible since body parts can prove to be near impossible to find. This is a very special car and I regret having to get rid of it but baby #1 on his way! Please feel free to ask any questions. DELIVERY NOT AVAILABLE. Vehicle located on Camano Island WA, 98282 |

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible
Wed, 31 Aug 2011Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
