Car drives beautifully--ride is very smooth and alignment perfect. Air is cold. Brakes are crisp and responsive--no mushiness. You will not be disappointed in the way it drives.

Giant trunk and roomy back seat--easily and comfortably carries five adults. Meticulously maintained throughout its life--all recommended services performed, and then some. Firestone FR380 tires have very few miles on them. Never wrecked.

This is a used car, so there are some issues. I believe in full disclosure, so here they are:

--There are some cosmetic defects--minor dings and scuffs here and there, including some very mild hail dings. None of these detract from the vehicle's overall appearance.
--The driver's side rearview mirror is slightly loose but fully functional. It is steady but jiggles slightly while driving. Doesn't make any noise or anything--just jiggles a little.
--One dashboard light is out but there is still enough light from the other lights so it does not materially affect visibility of the the gauges.
--The power window buttons on the passenger and rear doors can be a little finicky. The windows usually work, but you sometimes have to try the buttons two or three times before they engage. Occasionally, they will refuse to lower. I have never had a problem with them not raising once lowered. Also, I have never had any problems at all with the driver's window--it always raises and lowers without any issues.
--The center console has a cover with two hinges, one of which has come loose. It could easily be repaired with a screw.
--The windshield washer doesn't spray strongly enough to reach the windshield.
--The right rear door lock sometimes doesn't unlock fully when pressing the power lock button. It has to be manually raised. All other doors unlock just fine.
--Steering wheel shows some age, so it is covered with a nice black leather cover that goes perfectly with the interior.

The car is sold as-is, with no warranty. Winning bidder must deposit $250 within 24 hours of auction close, with the balance payable IN CASH ONLY within 4 days of auction close. No checks of any kind, including cashier's checks, are acceptable.

Please note that any test drives or inspections must be done PRIOR to placing a bid. Once you bid, you are effectively signing a contract to buy the car and are liable for the amount of your bid. Please do not win the auction and show up expecting a test drive before completing the transaction.

All transactions and test drives will be conducted at my bank in the presence of security.

Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday

Mon, 04 Oct 2010

Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.

Ford recalls 300,000 Crown Vics over lighting module

Wed, Dec 23 2015

The Basics: Ford is recalling 312,814 units of the Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis sedans from the 2003-2005 model years. They were built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant between Oct. 3, 2001, and Aug. 2, 2005. Ford says 296,004 of those units are located in the United States, with another 14,714 in Canada and 2,096 in Mexico. The Problem: The solder joints on the lighting control module could crack, depriving the headlamps of the power they need to light the way ahead. That could increase the risk of a crash, particularly at night and in other low-visibility situations. Injuries/Deaths: Ford reports that it is aware of 11 accidents that resulted from the problem, leading to one injury described as "minor." The Fix: The manufacturer is instructing dealers to replace the entire lighting control module. If You Own One: Make sure your headlights are working before getting under way. If they're not, avoid driving under low-light conditions, including at night, in heavy precipitation, or in fog. Tue, 04 Nov 2014

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
